Powered by dual Intel ® Pentium ® III T ualatin ™ /Coppermine processors, the TRL-DLS ef ficiently complies with today ’ s demand for a high- integration server . 2.1.1 Specifications • Processor Support: Supports dual Socket 370-based Intel Pentium III Coppermine (256KB L2) and T ualatin (512KB L2) processors running up to 1.53 GHz with 133MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) frequency . • Host Bridge: Features the ServerW orks ® CNB20HE-SL North Bridge that supports a two-way Pentium III interface, 133MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), and 1.0 GB/s FSB bandwidth • I/O Bridge: Features ServerW orks ® CIOB20 to support dual 64-bit/66MHz PCI buses and PCI 2.2 protocol • South Bridge: Features ServerW orks ® CSB5 to support 32-bit/33MHz PCI following PCI 2.2 protocol, XIO-APIC for multiprocessor system, 4-port USB 1.1 interface, ACPI power management and event detection, dual-channel A T A-100 HDD controller , and legacy functions such as 8237DMA, 8259PIC, and 8254 T imer • LPC Super I/O: Features the NS 87417 low-pin count (LPC) to support UAR T compatible serial ports and one parallel port with EPP and ECP capabilities, floppy drive, and PS/2 keyboard and mouse. • Onboard Graphics: Features A TI RAGE-XL PCI VGA controller that supports up to 8MB display SDRAM for 1280x1024 and true color resolutions. • LAN Support: Features Intel 82550 Fast Ethernet LAN controller that fully supports 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX networking protocols, and two RJ-45 ports with status LEDs. • PC133 Memory Support: Equipped with six Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets that support up to 6GB of registered ECC SDRAMs (available in 128/256/512MB or 1GB densities). • Ultra160 SCSI Support: Equipped with Adaptec ® AIC7899W 64-bit/66MHz SCSI controller to support up to 30 SCSI devices through the onboard dual- channel Ultra160 SCSI connectors.

Supports A T A-100, Multi-W ord DMA Mode 2, PIO Modes 3 & 4 IDE devices, such as A T API IDE CD-ROM, CD-R/R W , ZIP , and LS-120 drives. • PCI Expansion Slots: Comes with four 64-bit/66MHz 3.3V PCI slots and two 32-bit/33MHz 5V PCI slots. One of the 64-bit 3.3V PCI slots supports the Adaptec EMRL (Embedded RAID Logic). • USB Ports: T wo stacked USB connectors to provide for additional peripherals • SMBus: Features the System Management Bus interface, which is used to physically transport commands and information between SMBus devices. • W ake-Up Support: Supports W ake-On-LAN and W ake-On-Ring, and BIOS W ake-Up. • Chassis Intrusion Detection: Chassis intrusion circuitry can log chassis open events into the system BIOS. The onboard battery supports detection even when normal power is removed and through a new design, battery drain is even lower than the R TC used for keeping time! • Server Health Monitoring: Provides an easy way to examine and manage system status information, such as CPU and systerm voltages, temperatures, and fan status through the onboard hardware ASUS ASIC. • Enhanced ACPI: Programmable BIOS (Flash EEPROM), of fering enhanced ACPI for W indows NT/2000/XP compatibility , and autodetection of most devices for virtually automatic setup. • Smart BIOS: 4Mbit firmware gives a new easy-to-use interface which provides more control and protection over the motherboard. Provides boot block write protection, and HD/SCSI/MO/ZIP/CD/Floppy boot selection. Y ear 2000 certified. • CPU Throttling: CPU throttling protects CPU from overheating. • Integrated IOAPIC: Supports full 32-APIC entries and removes the need for a separate IOAPIC chip. • ASUS Server Management Card: The optional ASMC-LE, ASMC-ME, and ASMC-HE cards support Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), system health monitor , and LAN security mode solutions to achieve server reliability , availability , and serviceability requirements.

FEA TURES 2.1.2 Performance • Ultra Performance: Onboard Ultra160 dual channel SCSI controller with two connectors that support 30 Ultra160 SCSI devices in two channels. • CPU Speed: CPU frequency operates at 133MHz • High-Speed Data T ransfer Interface: SCSI transfers using Ultra160 dual- channel SCSI controller can handle rates up to 160MB/s. Ultra160 is backward compatible with slower SCSI devices so that older SCSI devices are not wasted. (Ultra160 SCSI cables have twisted pairs compared to flat ribbon cables used in older SCSI standards.) • Advanced 64-bit PCI: Maximizes IO bandwidth for the next generation of 64-bit PCI cards, supports four full 64-bit 66/33MHz PCI busses, and two 32-bit 33MHz PCI busses. • Full Peer -to-Peer Support: Allows full peer-to-peer transactions between PCI busses and increases options for intelligent IO and Server Management cards. • SDRAM Optimized Performance: This motherboard supports interleaved PC133 “ registered” Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) that supports a data transfer rate o f u p to 2128 MB/s. • ACPI Ready: Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) is also implemented on all ASUS smart series motherboards. ACPI provides more Energy Saving Features for future operating systems (OS) supporting OS Direct Power Management (OSPM) functionality . W ith these features implemented in the OS, PCs can be ready around the clock, yet satisfy all the ener gy saving standards. T o fully utilize the benefits of ACPI, an ACPI-supported OS, such as W indows 2000, must be used. • New Compliancy: Both the BIOS and hardware levels of the motherboard meet the stringent requirements for SDG2.0 certification. The new SDG2.0 requirements for systems and components are based on the following high-level goals: support for Plug and Play compatibility and power management for configuring and managing all system components, and 32-bit device drivers and installation procedures for W indows NT/2000/XP . Color -coded connectors and descriptive icons make identification easy as required by PC ‘ 99.

FEA TURES Intelligence 2.1.3 Intelligence • Fan Status Monitoring and Alarm: T o prevent system overheat and system damage, the CPU, power supply , and system fan speeds are monitored. All the fans are set to normal RPM range and alarm thresholds. • T emperature Monitoring and Alert: T o prevent system overheat and system damage, this motherboard supports processor thermal sensing and auto-protection. • V oltage Monitoring and Aler t: System voltage levels are monitored to ensure stable current to critical motherboard components. V oltage specifications are more critical for future processors, so monitoring is necessary to ensure proper system configuration and management. • Dual Function Power Button: Through BIOS, the power button can be defined as the “Stand by ” (a.k.a. Suspend or Sleep) button or as the Soft-Of f button. Regardless of the setting, pushing the power button for more than 4 seconds will enter the Soft-Off mode. • Remote Ring In (requir es modem): This allows a computer to wake up remotely through an internal or external modem. W ith this benefit on-hand, users can access any information from their computers from anywhere in the world. • Server Management: The motherboard comes with an ASMC card connector (supports the optional ASMC-LE and ASMC-ME cards) that complies with server reliability , availability , and serviceability requirements. Remote management response via remote diagnostics and troubleshooting still works even when the operating system has frozen.

Six DIMM sockets are available for 3.3V olt (power level) registered Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) of 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, or 1GB densities with Serial Presence Detect (SPD) and Error Check and Correction (ECC). Locate the ZIF socket on the motherboard. 2. Unlock the socket by pressing the lever sideways then lifting it up to a 90 ° -100° angle. 3. Position the CPU above the socket such that its notched or marked corner matches the socket corner near the end of the lever , while making sure that the CPU is parallel to the socket. 4. Carefully insert the CPU into the socket until it fits in place. CAUTION! The CPU fits only in one orientation. Do not force the CPU into the socket to prevent bending the pins and damaging the CPU. If the CPU does not fit completely , check its orientation or check for bent pins. 5. When the CPU is in place, press it firmly on the socket while you push down the socket lever to secure the CPU. The lever clicks on the socket indicating that it is locked. 6. Install a CPU heatsink. Refer to the documentation that came with the heatsink. 7. Install the CPU terminator the same way as you would install a CPU. The figure on the right shows an installed CPU terminator . CAUTION! DO NOT install a heatsink on the terminator! It will damage the motherboard!

Failure to do so may cause severe damage to both your motherboard and expansion cards. 3.7.1 Expansion Card Installation Procedure Follow these steps to install an expansion card. 1. Before installing the expansion card, read the documentation that came with it and make the necessary hardware settings for the card. 2. Remove the system unit cover (if your motherboard is already installed in a chassis). 3. Remove the bracket opposite the slot that you intend to use. Keep the screw for later use. 4. Align the card connector with the slot and press firmly until the card is completely seated on the slot. 5. Secure the card to the chassis with the screw you removed earlier . 6. Replace the system cover . Expansion Cards 3. H/W SETUP In the future, you may need to install expansion cards. The motherboard has four 3.3V 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots and two 5V 32-bit/33MHz PCI slots. The slots support PCI 2.2 protocol. 3.7.2 Configuring an Expansion Card After physically installing the expansion card, configure the card by adjusting the software settings. 1. Pushing the button once switches the system between ON and SLEEP or ON and SOFT OFF , depending on your BIOS or OS setting. Pushing the switch while in the ON mode for more than 4 seconds turns the system of f. The system power LED shows the status of the system power . • Reset Switch Lead (2-pin) This 2-pin connector connects to the case-mounted reset switch for rebooting your computer without having to turn of f your power switch. This is a preferred method of rebooting to prolong the life of the system power supply . • System Power LED Lead (3-1 pin) This 3-1 pin connector connects to the system power LED that lights up when the system is powered on and blinks when it is in sleep or soft-of f mode. Be sure that all switches are of f (in some systems, marked with ). 3. Connect the power cord to the power connector at the back of the system chassis. 4. Connect the power cord to a power outlet that is equipped with a sur ge protector . 5. T urn on the devices in the following order: a. Monitor b. External SCSI devices (starting with the last device on the chain) c. System power (For A TX power supplies, you need to switch on the power supply as well as press the A TX power switch on the front of the chassis.) 6. The power LED on the front panel of the system case lights up. For A TX power supplies, the system LED lights up when you press the A TX power switch. The system then runs the power-on tests. While the tests are running, the BIOS beeps or additional messages appear on the screen. If you do not see anything within 30 seconds from the time you turn on the power , the system may have failed a power -on test. Check the jumper settings and connections or call your retailer for assistance. BIOS SETUP Updating BIOS 4.1 Managing and Updating Y our BIOS 4.1.1 Upon First Use of the Computer System It is recommended that you save a copy of the original motherboard BIOS along with a Flash Memory W riter utility (AFLASH.EXE) to a bootable floppy disk in case you need to reinstall the BIOS later . AFLASH.EXE is a Flash Memory W riter utility that updates the BIOS by uploading a new BIOS file to the programmable flash ROM on the motherboard. This file works only in DOS mode. T o determine the BIOS version of your motherboard, check the last four numbers of the code displayed on the upper left-hand corner of your screen during bootup. This minimizes the possibilities of boot problems in case of update failures. When the programming is done, Flashed Successfully appears. 8. Follow the onscreen instructions to continue. W ARNING! If you encounter problems while updating the new BIOS, DO NOT turn off the system because this may cause boot problems. Just repeat the process, and if the problem still persists, load the original BIOS file you saved to the boot disk. BIOS SETUP NOTE: Because the BIOS software is constantly being updated, the following BIOS setup screens and descriptions are for reference purposes only , and may not exactly match what you see on your screen. 4.2 BIOS Setup Program This motherboard supports a programmable EEPROM that you can update using the provided utility described in 4.1 Managing and Updating Y our BIOS . The utility is used if you are installing a motherboard, reconfiguring your system, or prompted to “ Run Setup ”. This section describes how to configure your system using this utility . Even if you are not prompted to use the Setup program, at some time in the future you may want to change the configuration of your computer . For example, you may want to enable the Security Password Feature or make changes to the power management settings. It will then be necessary to reconfigure your system using the BIOS Setup program so that the computer can recognize these changes and record them in the CMOS RAM of the EEPROM. The EEPROM on the motherboard stores the Setup utility . When you start up the computer , the system provides you with the opportunity to run this program. This appears during the Power -On Self T est (POST). Press <Delete> to call up the Setup utility . If you are a little bit late in pressing the mentioned key , POST will continue with its test routines, thus preventing you from calling up Setup. If you still need to call Setup, restart the system by pressing <Ctrl> <Alt> <Delete>, or by pressing the Reset button on the system chassis. Y ou can also restart by turning the system off and then back on again. But do so only if the first two methods fail. The Setup program has been designed to make it as easy to use as possible. It is a menu-driven program, which means you can scroll through the various sub-menus and make your selections among the predetermined choices. To access the BIOS Setup program, press the <Delete> key after the computer has run through its POST. Program Information

Y ou may launch this screen from any menu by simply pressing <F1> or the <Alt> <H> combination. The General Help screen lists the legend keys with their corresponding functions. Saving Changes and Exiting the Setup Program See 4.7 Exit Menu for detailed information on saving changes and exiting the setup program. Scroll Bar When a scroll bar appears to the right of a help window , it indicates that there is more information to be displayed that will not fit in the window . Use <PgUp> and <PgDn> or the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the entire help document. Press <Home> to display the first page, press <End> to go to the last page. T o exit the help window , press <Enter> or <Esc>. Sub-Menu Note that a right pointer symbol (as shown in the left view) appears to the left of certain fields. This pointer indicates that you can display a sub-menu from this field. A sub- menu contains additional options for a field parameter . T o display a sub-menu, move the highlight to the field and press <Enter>. The sub-menu appears. Use the legend keys to enter values and move from field to field within a sub-menu as you would within a menu. Use the <Esc> key to return to the main menu. T ake some time to familiarize yourself with the legend keys and their corresponding functions. Practice navigating through the various menus and sub-menus. If you accidentally make unwanted changes to any of the fields, use the set default hot key <F5> to load the Setup default values. While moving around through the Setup program, note that explanations appear in the Item Specific Help window located to the right of each menu. Supervisor Password [Disabled] / User Password [Disabled] These fields allow you to set passwords. T o set a password, highlight the appropriate field and press <Enter>. T ype in a password then press <Enter>. Y ou can type up to eight alphanumeric characters. Symbols and other characters are ignored. T o confirm the password, type the password again and press <Enter>. The password is now set to [Enabled]. This password allows full access to the BIOS Setup menus. T o clear the password, highlight this field and press <Enter>. The same dialog box as above appears. Press <Enter>. The password is set to [Disabled]. A note about passwords The BIOS Setup program allows you to specify passwords in the Main menu. The passwords control access to the BIOS during system startup. Passwords are not case sensitive, meaning, passwords typed in either uppercase or lowercase letters are accepted. The BIOS Setup program allows you to specify two different passwords: a Supervisor password and a User password. If you did not set a Supervisor password, anyone can access the BIOS Setup program. If you did, the Supervisor password is required to enter the BIOS Setup program and to gain full access to the configuration fields. Forgot the password? If you for get your password, you can clear it by erasing the CMOS Real Time Clock (R TC) RAM. The RAM data containing the password information is powered by the onboard button cell battery . T o clear the CMOS RAM, (1) turn of f the computer and unplug the power cable, (2) remove the cell battery , (3) short the solder points for about 5 seconds, (4) re-install the cell battery , (5) plug the power cable and turn on the computer , (6) hold down the <Del> key during the boot process to enter BIOS Setup and re-enter CMOS data. If automatic detection is successful, Setup automatically fills in the correct values for the remaining fields on this sub-menu. If automatic detection fails, this may be because the hard disk drive is too old or too new . If the hard disk was already formatted on an older system, Setup may detect incorrect parameters. In these cases, select [User T ype HDD] to manually enter the IDE hard disk drive parameters. Refer to the next section for details. CAUTION! Before attempting to configure a hard disk drive, make sure you have the correct configuration information supplied by the drive manufacturer . This is necessary so that you can write or read data from the hard disk. Make sure to set the partition of the Primary IDE hard disk drives to active. If no drive is installed or if you are removing a drive and not replacing it, select [None]. This feature turns of f the video display and shuts down the hard disk after a period of inactivity . Power Management [User Defined] This option must be enabled to use any of the automatic power saving features. If this menu item is set to [Disabled], power management features will not function regardless of other field settings on this menu. The [User Define] option allows you to make your own selections in the Power menu. When set to [Max Saving], system power will be conserved to its greatest amount. The Suspend Mode field is then set to predefined value that ensures maximum power saving. This field acts as the master control for the power management modes. [Max Saving] puts the system into power saving mode after a brief period of system inactivity; [Min Saving] is almost the same as [Max Saving] except that the system inactivity period is longer; [Disabled] disables the power saving features; [User Define] allows you to set power saving options according to your preference. Configuration options: [User Define] [Disabled] [Min Saving] [Max Saving] IMPORT ANT : Advanced Power Management (APM) should be installed to keep the system time updated when the computer enters suspend mode activated by the BIOS Power Management. For DOS environments, you need to add the statement, DEVICE=C:\DOS\POWER.EXE, to your CONFIG.SYS file. For W indows 3.x and W indows 95, you need to install W indows with the APM feature. For W indows 98 and later , APM is automatically installed. If set up in your system, your screen saver will not display with [Blank Screen] selected). [V/H SYNC Blank] blanks the screen and turns of f vertical and horizontal scanning. BIOS SETUP Exit Menu Exit Saving Changes Once you are finished making your selections, choose this option from the Exit menu to ensure the values you selected are saved to the CMOS RAM. The CMOS RAM is sustained by an onboard backup battery and stays on even when the PC is turned off. Once this option is selected, a confirmation is asked. Select [Y es] to save changes and exit. NOTE: If you attempt to exit the Setup program without saving your changes, the program will prompt you with a message asking if you want to save your changes before exiting. Pressing <Enter> will then save changes while exiting. Exit Discarding Changes This option should only be used if you do not want to save the changes you have made to the Setup program. If you have made changes to fields other than system date, system time, and password, the system will ask for confirmation before exiting. 4.8 Exit Menu Once you have made all of your selections from the various menus in the Setup program, you should save your changes and exit Setup. New System Installation This procedure installs the ADPT160M.SYS driver onto a W indows NT system. Use this procedure when installing W indows NT onto an unused SCSI drive. W indows NT automatically adds the driver to the registry and copies the driver to the appropriate directory . There are two methods to install the W indows NT system. One is installed by booting from NT CD Disc; the other is by booting from NT three installation floppy diskettes. B1. CD-ROM Installation 1. Start the W indows NT installation by booting from the W indows NT CD-ROM. The system BIOS must support booting from a CD-ROM. Adaptec BIOS settings may need to be changed to allow CD-ROM booting when using SCSI-interface CD-ROM drive. 2. When the screen displays “ W indows NT Setup ” , immediately press the F6 key . This must be done or else the new driver installed from the Adaptec driver diskette will not be recognized. NOTE: If F6 is not pressed, the user is still given the opportunity to load additional drivers later in the installation process. However , any drivers loaded during W indows NT Setup are not immediately recognized and no devices controlled by that driver are available during W indows NT Setup. 3. When prompted for the manufacturer -supplied hardware support disk, insert the appropriate Adaptec driver diskette containing the W indows NT driver required to support your Adaptec adapter(s) and press Enter . The driver files are distributed with ASUS Driver Support CD and are created from above “Preparing an Adaptec Driver Diskette” Section. 4. Depending on the driver being installed, “Adaptec Ultra160 PCI SCSI Controller (NT4.0)” is shown highlighted. Press Enter to proceed. 5. W indows NT should now recognize the miniport driver(s) and the SCSI hardware. Press Enter to continue. Make sure you have a 1.44 MB formatted, non-bootable diskette in the floppy drive when using this utility . Choose check bottom of W indows NT4.0 to create W indows NT diskette (two diskette) when appeared create window disk screen. B. New System Installation 1. Press Next when Installing W indows NT Networking screen appears. 2. Select W ired to the Network: Press Next . Y ou can select install IIS or not. 3. Press Select from list……. . Adaptec ® SCSI Driver Installation The Microsoft W indows 2000 Server can autodetect the onboard AIC7899W SCSI controller on the TRL-DLS motherboard. Y ou don ’t need to load or modify the SCSI driver . A. Existing System Installation 1. Boot W indows 2000 and log on as Administrator . 2. Right click on My Computer and click on Pr operties . 3. Click on the Hardwar e tab, and then click on the Device Manager button. 4. Click the “ ” to the left of the SCSI and RAID controllers line. Find the adapter desired for the driver upgrade and double click on the entry . Click on the Driver tab. 5. Information on the currently installed driver is displayed, and additional driver details can be viewed by clicking the Driver Details …. button. 6. T o update the existing driver , click the Update Driver button. The Upgrade Device Driver W izard begins. Click on the Next button. 7. Make sure Search for a suitable driver for my device is selected, then click on the Next button. 8. Make sure the Floppy disk drives location is checked. Insert the appropriate Adaptec driver diskette that contains the W indows 2000 driver required to support your Adaptec adapter(s) and press Enter . The Adaptec driver diskette was created earlier . 9. The system scans the existing driver database and the floppy diskette drive for drivers for the selected adapter . 10. A list of suitable drivers appears. The entry for the upgrade driver can be verified by scrolling the display to the right, and viewing the Location field. Highlight the driver for the upgrade installation disk and click on the Next button.

Due to the delay between the general customer release by Adaptec Logic of W indows drivers and the completion of WHQL testing, some drivers that are distributed with adapters or downloaded from the Adaptec Logic web site at www .adaptec.com may not be digitally signed. 12. Adaptec ® SCSI Driver Installation A single driver (*HAM) is provided for the Novell NetW are 4.XX, and 5.X environments. This document explains how to install and use Adaptec SCSI Host Adapter Module (HAM) driver for NetW are. The Adaptec solution that consists of the device drivers ADPT160M.DDI and ADPT160M are Host Adapter Modules (HAMs). HAM. T o support SCSI devices, load the HAM in conjunction with a SCSI Custom Device Module (CDM). Novell has developed generic CDMs to support SCSI-2 hard drives, SCSI CD-ROM devices, SCSI Magneto Optical devices, SCSI tape devices, and SCSI changer devices. In addition, third party vendors are developing CDMs to support their specific devices. Novell Netware does not include the drivers for the Adaptec SCSI controller . Y ou must create a driver disk prior to Novell Netware installation. NOTE: Prepare one blank formatted high density floppy disk. Label the disk “ Ultra160 FMS v1.1 1 for Novell Netwar e version 3.1x/4.xx Setup Disk ” or “Ultra160 FMS v1.1 1 for Novell Netwar e version 5.xx Setup Disk ” . A. Preparing an Adaptec Driver Disk 1. Insert the ASUS TRL-DLS support CD into your CD-ROM drive. 2. Run the Adaptec Disk Creation Utility from the following path: \Drivers\Adaptec\fmsutil.exe

Select Novell Netwar e 3.1x, 4.xx and 5.xx . Press Enter . 5. Select either “ Novell Netwar e V ersion 3.1x/4.xx ” or “Novell Netwar e V ersion 5.xx. ” Press Enter . 6. When prompted, insert the floppy disk that you labeled “ Ultra160 FMS v1.1 1 for Novell Netwar e version 3.1x/4.xx Setup Disk ” or “Ultra160 FMS v1.1 1 for Novell Netwar e version 5.xx Setup Disk ” 7. Press Enter and follow the succeeding screen instructions.

Begin the file server installation according to the instructions in the file server installation chapter in the Novell NetW are Installation Manual. 2. When the NetW are installation procedure prompts you a Device type screen, press Modify to add a Storage adapters : (Default only IDEA T A available). Press INS for adding a new driver . Please put the Adaptec driver for NetW are diskette into drive A: Then use the INS key to select an unlisted driver . A dialog box appears. If the driver diskette is in the A: drive, press Enter to continue. The ADPT160.HAM drivers appear as a selection. 3. Highlight Disk and CD-ROM Drivers (e.g., IDEA T A). Press Enter and load an additional driver . Then press the INS key . The system always defaults to the A: path. Highlight the HAM driver and press Enter . Select Ye s to save and move the driver into the operating system. Press Enter , the system will copy the files. 4. Load a separate instance of the driver for every Adaptec controller SCSI channel or host adapter present in the system. 5. When prompted for a slot number , accept the slot numbers displayed. Make sure to write these slot numbers down for future reference. 6. When asked to edit the ST AR TUP .NCF file, make sure that the ADPT160M.HAM is loaded once for each Adaptec SCSI controller channel present in the system. Add the statement SLOT=<slot number> to each load line in the ST AR TUP .NCF , by specifying the slot numbers written down in step 5 above, with only one slot number per load instance. The HAM driver(s) are loaded for each Adaptec SCSI controller channel from the first LOAD statement to the last LOAD statement. C. NetWare 4.XX New Installations 1. Begin the file server installation according to the instructions in the file server installation chapter in the Novell NetW are Installation Manual. 2. When the NetW are installation procedure prompts you for a driver disk, insert the Adaptec driver for NetW are diskette into drive A: Then use the INS key to select an unlisted driver . A dialog box appears. If the driver diskette is in the A: drive, press Enter to continue. The ADPT160M.HAM driver appears as a selection.

Load the Adaptec SCSI driver twice with different slot number from ST ARTUP .NCF file as follows: load ADPT160M.HAM Slot=10012 load ADPT160M.HAM Slot=10013 5. When prompted for a slot number , accept the slot numbers displayed. Make sure to write these slot numbers down for future reference. 6. When asked to edit the ST AR TUP .NCF file, make sure that the ADPT160M.HAM is loaded once for each Adaptec controller SCSI channel present in the system. Add the statement SLOT=<slot number> to each load line in the ST AR TUP .NCF , by specifying the slot numbers written down in step 5 above, with only one slot number per load instance. II. Intel ® 82550 Network Driver Installation A. Preparing Intel 82550 LAN Driver Diskette 1. Use the self-extracting image files. For the Intel(R) PRO/100 Server Adapter driver , the executable file is located here: \Drivers\Lan\makedisk\makenw .bat 2. Use the manual to create driver diskette. If you need to use a floppy disk to install the on-board Intel 82550 network adapter drivers, use the MAKEDISK.BA T utility located in the \Drivers\LAN\MAKEDISK directory on ASUS Driver Support CD. MAKEDISK [operating system] [destination]

Driver Installation Novell Netware where [operating system] is the OS for which you are creating the diskette, and [destination] is the drive letter and path (such as A:). If no destination is specified, the A: drive will be used. The possible [operating system] options are: NT = Micr osoft W indows NT W2K = Micr osoft Windows* 2000 NW = Novell NetW are servers and clients Make sure you have a 1.44 MB formatted, non-bootable diskette in the floppy drive when using this utility . B. NetW are 4.XX and 5.X Installations 1. Prepare the Intel(R) PRO/100 Server Adapter driver from previous section. 2. Install NetW are 4.xx or 5.x according to the NetW are instructions. 3. When the NetW are installation procedure prompts you for a Network Driver , insert the Intel PRO/100 driver diskette into drive A: Then use the INS key to select an unlisted driver . A dialog box appears. The “ CE100B.LAN — Intel 8255X PCI Adapter (CHSM spec 1.1 1) “ driver appear as a selection. CAUTION: If the “ Loader could not find public symbol: <symbol name> ” error message prompted when system is loading Intel Pro/100 PCI network driver , it ’ s because the related network driver modules are too old. User must download the latest Netware Support Pack from Novell web site at: http://support.novell.com/pr oducts/nw41 1/patches.htm (For example: the support pack for NetW are 4.1 1) 4. Installation of the Intel 82550 Network Adapter for NetW are 5.x or 4.xx is complete. Add or check the load and bind statements you need to the server ’ s AUTOEXEC.NCF file so the PRO/100 adapter driver loads automatically load and bind the server driver as follows: LOAD CE100B SLOT=x FRAME=ETHERNET_802.2 BIND IPX T O CE100B NET=xxxxxxxx

Substitute x with the valid value for the adapter . Y ou will be prompted with the slot number(s) of installed PRO/100 adapters. The NBI numbers are different from the slot number indicated in the SETUP .EXE utility . NET=xxxxxxxx is the unique network address for that LAN segment. The default frame type is 802.2. If your workstation needs to use the 802.3 frame type, see the section later in this document about using multiple frame types on one adapter . III. A TI ® Rage XL Display Driver Installation User can select the “ Super VGA ” for the X Server on NetW are 5.x server system. The other NetW are system didn ’t support X Server and user didn ’ t need the VGA driver support.

Intel ® 82550 Network Driver Installation SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 system can correctly recognize Intel 82550 network controller during installation. Y ou don ’t need to load or modify the network driver for the onboard LAN device. Y ou can find the Intel 82550 Network driver from ASUS TRL-DLS support CD at \Drivers\Lan\UNIX\SCO5 Instructions for Installing the eeE Driver for SCO OpenServer 1. Copy the eee.vol file to any directory , say /tmp, on the SCO system, renaming the file as V OL.000.000. Also, make the file read-only by using ‘ chmod’ . For example, # cp eeE.vol /tmp/V OL.000.000 # chmod 444 /tmp/V OL.000.000 2. If there is an older version of the eeE driver on the system, you must first remove it. T o do this, run ‘ netconfig’. Remove all instances of the “Intel ... ” adapters. Exit netconfig without opting to relink the kernel. 3. Install the new driver using ‘ custom’. When asked for the installation media, choose ‘ media images ’ , and type the directory path to the VOL.000.000 file. (In step 1, if you copied it to /tmp, type ‘/tmp ’). After the installation of the driver is complete, exit ‘ custom’ . 4. Run ‘ netconfig’ and add the adapters. For each adapter that is present in the system, enter the appropriate TCP/IP parameters. By default, the driver automatically detects the line speed and duplex mode. If you want to force any of these settings, choose ‘Advanced Options ’ and set the speed and duplex modes. Exit ‘ netconfig’ and choose to relink the kernel. 5. Reboot the system.At the command prompt, type: # r eboot (or init 6) III. A TI ® Rage XL Display Driver Installation SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 system can correctly recognize A TI Rage XL graphic controller (A TI RAGE PRO/L T -PRO/XL/Mobility P/M/M1) during installation.
