iv Safety information • Before setting up the monitor , carefully read all the documentation that came with the package. • T o prevent re or shock hazard, never expose the monitor to rain or moisture. • Never try to open the monitor cabinet. The dangerous high voltages inside the monitor may result in serious physical injury . • If the power supply is broken, do not try to x it by yourself. Contact a qualied service technician or your retailer . • Before using the product, make sure all cables are correctly connected and the power cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately . • Slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet are provided for ventilation. Do not block these slots. Never place this product near or over a radiator or heat source unless proper ventilation is provided. • The monitor should be operated only from the type of power source indica ted on the la bel. If you a re not sure o f the type of pow er suppl y to your home, consult your dealer or local power company . • Use the appropriate power plug which complies with your local power standard. • Do not overload power strips and extention cords. Overloading can result in re or electric shock. • Avoid dust, humidity , and temperature extremes. Do not place the monitor i n a n y a r ea w h e re i t m a y b e c o m e w e t . P la ce t h e m o ni to r o n a s t a b l e surface. • Unplug the unit during a lightning storm or if it will not be used for a long period of time. This will protect the monitor from damage due to power surges. • Never push objects or spill liquid of any kind into the slots on the monitor cabinet. • T o ensure satisfactory operation, use the monitor only with UL listed c o m p u t e r s w h i c h h a v e a p p r o p r i a t e c o n f i g u r e d r e c e p t a c l e s m a r k e d between 100-240V AC. • If you encounter technical problems with the monitor , contact a qualied service technician or your retailer .
v Care & Cleaning • Before you lift or reposition your monitor , it is better to disconnect the c a b l e s a n d p o w e r c o r d . F o l l o w t h e c o r r e c t l i f t i n g t e c h n i q u e s w h e n po s i t i o n i n g t h e m o n i t o r . W h e n l i f t i ng o r c a r r y i ng t h e m o n i to r, g r a s p t h e edges of the monitor . Do not lift the display by the stand or the cord. • Cleaning. T urn your monitor off and unplug the power cord. Clean the moni tor s urfa ce wi th a li nt-f ree, non- abra siv e clot h. St ubbo rn st ains may be removed with a cloth dampened with mild cleaner . • Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended for use with the LCD. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen, as it may drip inside the monitor and cause an electric shock. The following symptoms are normal with the monitor: • The screen may icker during the initial use due to the nature of the uores cent lig ht. T ur n off the P ower Swi tch and tur n it on again to mak e sure that the icker disappears. • Y ou may nd slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on the desktop pattern you use. • When the same image is dis played for hours, an afterimage of the previous s c r e e n m a y r e m a i n a f t e r s w i t c h i n g t h e i m a g e . T h e s c r e e n w i l l r e c o v e r slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours. • When the screen becomes black or ashes, or cannot work anymore, contact your dealer or service center to x it. W e recommend that you cov er the table surf ace with soft cloth to pre vent damage to the monitor .

Button: • A utomatically adjust the image to its optimized position, cloc k, and phase by long pressing this b utton for 2-4 seconds (f or V GA mode only). • Use this hotke y to switch from fiv e video preset modes (Game Mode, Night View Mode , Scener y Mode, Standard Mode, Theater Mode) with SPLENDID™ Video Enhancement T echnology . • Exit the OSD menu or go bac k to the pre vious menu as the OSD menu is activ e. 2. Button: • Press this button to decrease the v alue of the function selected or mov e to the pre vious fuction. • This is also a hotke y for V olume adjustment.(F or Some Models) 3. MENU Button: • Press this button to enter/select the icon (function) highlighted while the OSD menu is activ ated. 4. Button: • Press this button to increase the v alue of the function selected or mov e to the next fuction. • This is also a hotke y for Brightness adjustment.

Chapter 3 : Genera l In str uction 3-1 3.1 OSD (On-Screen Display) menu 3.1.1 How to reconfigure 1. Press the MENU button to activate the OSD menu 2. Press and to navigate through the func - tions. Highlight and activate the desired function by pressing the MENU button. If the function selected has a sub-menu, press and again to navigate through the sub-menu functions. Highlight and activate the desired sub-menu function by pressing the MENU button. 3. Press and to change the settings of the selected function. 4. T o exit the OSD menu, press the button. Repeat step 2 and step 3 to adjust any other function. 3.1.2 OSD Function Intr oduction 1. Splendid This function contains six sub-functions that you can select for your preference. Each mode has the Reset selection, allowing you to maintain your setting or return to the preset mode. • Scenery Mode: This is the best choice for scenery photo displaying with SPLENDID™ Video Enhancement. • Standard Mode: This is the best choice for document editing with SPLEN DID™ Video Enhancement. • Theater Mode: This is the best choice for movie watching with SPLENDID™ Video Enhancement. • Game Mode: This is the best choice for game playing with SPLENDID™ Video Enhancement. • Night View Mode: This is the best choice for playing dark-scene game or watching movie with SPLENDID™ Video Enhancement. • sRGB In the Standard Mode, the ASCR function is not user-configurable. A SU S LED Monitor ML228H Series 3-2 2. Color Select the image color you like from this function. • Brightness: The adjust ing range is from 0 to 100. The button is also a hotkey to activate this function. • Contrast: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Color T emp.: contains ve color modes including Cool, Normal, W arm, sRGB, and User mode. • Smart View: The versatile viewing positions with Smart View T echnology . In the User mode, colors of R (Red), G (Green), and B (Bluee) are user- congurable; the adjusting range is from 0-100. 3. Image Y ou can adjust the image Sharpness, T race Free, Aspect Control, Position (VGA only), and Focus (VGA only) from this main function. • Sharpness: Asjusts the picture sharpness. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • T race Free: Speeds up the response time by Over Drive technology . The adjusting range is from lower 0 to faster 100. • Aspect Control: Adjusts the aspect ratio to “Full”, “4:3”, “1:1”, or “Over Scan” (Only available for HDMI input). • Position: Adjusts the horizontal postition (H-Position) and the vertical position (V -Position) of the image. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Focus: Reduces Horizonal-line noise and V ertical-line noise of the image by ad justing (Phase) and (Clock) separately . The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Phase adjusts the phase of the pixel clock signal. With a wrong phase adjustment, the screen shows horizontal disturbances. • Clock (pixel frequency) controls the number of pixels scanned by one horizontal sweep. If the frequency is not correct, the screen shows vertical stripes and the image is not proportional. System Setup Allow y ou to adjust the system. • Splendid Demo Mode: Activate the demo mode for the Splendid function. • ECO Mode: Power-saving mode. • OSD Setup: Adjusts the horizontal postition (H-Position), vertical position (V - Position), OSD T imeout, DDD/CI, and T ransparency of the OSD screen. • Language: Selects OSD language. The selections are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian, T raditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. • Information: shows the monitor information. • All Reset: Set to “Y es” to revert all settings to the factory default mode. Chapter 3 : Genera l In str uction 3- 5 3.3 Troubleshooting (FAQ) Prob lem P ossible Solution P ower LED is not ON • Press the button to chec k if the monitor is in the ON mode. • Check if the po wer cord is properly connected to the monitor and the pow er outlet. The pow er LED lights amber and there is no screen image • Check if the monitor and the computer are in the ON mode. • Make sure the signal cab le is properly connected the monitor and the computer . • Inspect the signal cable and mak e sure none of the pins are bent. • Connect the computer with another av ailable monitor to check if the computer is properly working. Screen image is too light or dark • Adjust the Contrast and Brightness settings via OSD . Screen image is not centered or sized properly • Press the button f or two seconds to automatically adjust the image. • Adjust the H-P osition or V -P osition settings via OSD . Screen image bounces or a wa ve pattern is present in the image • Make sure the signal cab le is properly connected to the monitor and the computer . • Mov e electrical devices that ma y cause electr ical interf erence. Screen image has color def ects (white does not look white) • Inspect the signal cabl e and make sure that none of the pins are bent. • P erform Reset via OSD . • Adjust the R/G/B color settings or select the Color T emperature via OSD . Screen image is blurry or fuzzy • Press the button f or two seconds to automatically adjust the image (f or V GA mode only). • Adjust the Phase and Clock settings via OSD . No sound or sound is low • Ensure that the audio cable is properly connected to the monitor and the computer • Adjust the v olume settings of both your monitor and computer . • Ensure that the computer sound card driver is properly installed and activated.
