10 Care and safety Guidelines Road safety comes îrst. W e strongly rec ommend not to use your device when driving or oper ating any type of vehicle. This device should only be used in en vironments with ambient t emperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F). T urn oî your device in restricted areas wher e the use of mobile devices is prohibited . Always obey rules and regulations when in restricted areas , such as, in aircraft, movie theater , in hospitals or near medical equipment, near gas or fuel, construction sites , blasting sites and other areas . Use only AC adapt ers and cables approv ed by ASUS for use with this device. Refer t o the rating label on the bottom of your device and ensur e that your power adapter complies with this r ating. Do not use damaged power cables, ac cessories, and other peripherals with your device. Keep your device dry . D o not use or expose your device near liquids , rain, or moisture. Y ou can put your device through x -ray machines (such as those used in convey or belts for airpor t security), but do not expose the device to magnetic detectors and wands. The device screen is made of glass . I f the glass gets broken, stop using the device and do not t ouch the broken glass parts. Immediately send device for r epair to ASUS-qualiîed ser vice personnel. Do not listen at high volume lev els for long periods to pr event possible hearing damage. Disconnect the AC pow er before cleaning y our device. Use only a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth when cleaning your device scr een. 16 Installing a micro-SIM card A micro-subscriber identity module (micro-SIM) card stores information, such as y our mobile phone number , contacts, messages, and other da ta that gives y ou access to a mobile network. Align and insert the micro-SIM card into the micro-SIM card slot with the gold-plated contacts facing upward . 5. Push the micr o-SIM card all the way into the slot until it is seated îrmly in place .

21 Installing a memory card Y our device supports a microSD⢠and microSDHC⢠memory card with up to 64GB of capacity . NO TE: S ome memor y cards may not be compatible with y our device. Ensure that you use only 100%- c ompatible memor y cards to pr event loss of data, damage t o your device , memor y card, or both. 26 Charging your device Y our device comes partially charged but you must charge it fully bef ore using it for the îrst time. Read the following important notices and cautions befor e charging your device . T ap to go to the All apps screen then tap Settings. 2. T ap ASUS customized settings > P adFone Settings > PadF one Charging P olic y

PadF one Charging Modes Intelligent Mode (Default/Recommended) â¢î î Whenîtheîphone â sîbatter yîisîgreaterîthanî90%,îtheîP adF oneîStationîwillînotîchargeîtheîphone. â¢î î Inîsuspendîmode,îtheîP adFoneîStationîwillîchar geîtheîphoneîwhenîtheîfollowingîconditionsîareîmet: 1. If the phoneâ s batt er y is less than 70%. 2. If the phoneâ s batt er y is less than 90% of the P adFone Station â s cur rent charge . â¢î î WhenîtheîphoneîisîinsertedîintoîtheîP adF oneîStationîandîreachesîaîchargeîlow erîthanî15%,îtheîPadF oneî Station will charge the phone until the ba ttery is at 20%. 28 T o charge y our device: 1. Connect the micro USB cable to the A C power adapter . 2. Plug the AC po wer adapter to a grounded po wer outlet. 3. Connect the micro USB cable to y our phone or your P adFone Station sepera tely , or to the P adFone Sta tion with the phone inser ted. IMPORT ANT! â¢î Chargeîyourîdeviceîf orîeightî(8)îhoursîbeforeîusingîitîinî battery mode for the îrst time. â¢î Theîstatusîofîbatteryîchargeîisîindicatedîbyîtheîf ollowingî icons: Low Not Charging Charging F ull î 4. When fully-charged, disconnect the USB cable from your devic e îrst before unplugging the A C power adapter from the po wer outlet. 29 Inserting/removing your phone into/from your tablet CA UTION! Do not add a protective îlm or cov er to your phone as it may be diîcult to insert/remove the phone to/from the tablet. NO TE: Always keep the tablet's phone ba y clean to prevent dust or dirt from scratching or damaging your phone . T o insert your phone into y our tablet: 1. Align your phone in to the phone bay sliding track with its microUSB port facing toward the phone bay . 2. Inser t your phone all the way into the ba y until it is securely connected to the tablet. Y our phone brieîy vibrates when the connection is secured. Once securely c onnected, appsâ screens automatically adjust to work in a tablet en vironment. T o remo ve your phone from y our tablet: Remove y our phone out from your tablet .
30 Turning your device on or off T urning your device on T o turn your device on, press and hold the po wer button until your device vibr ates and starts up. NO TE: Y our tablet automatically turns on once you insert your phone that is already active. W ARNING! If you forgot y our personal screen unlock pattern or no data connection is available, y ou will have to reset your devic e. Resetting your devic e will result in data loss .
