IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contains chemicals known (to the State of California) to cause cancer , birth defects or other repr oductive harm. T o reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated ar ea, and work with approved safety equipment, always wear MSHA/NIOSH approved, properly fitting face mask or respirator when using such tools. When using air tools, basic safety precautions should always be followed to r educe the risk of of personal injury . 4- ENG D27446 IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Save these instructions Improper operation or maintenance of this pr oduct could result in serious injury and property damage. Read and understand all warnings and operation instructions before using this equipment. HAZARD WARNING: Risk of explosion or fir e How T o Prevent It What Could Happen It is normal for electrical contacts within the motor and pressur e switch to spark. If electrical sparks from compr essor come into contact with flammable vapors, they may ignite, causing fire or explosion. Restricting any of the compressor ventilation openings will cause serious overheating and could cause fire. Unattended operation of this product could result in personal injury or property damage. T o reduce the risk of fire, do not allow the compr essor to operate unattended. Always operate the compressor in a well ventilated area fr ee of combustible materials, gasoline, or solvent vapors. If spraying flammable materials, locate compressor at least 20 feet away fr om spray area. An additional length of hose may be requir ed. Store flammable materials in a secur e location away from compr essor . Never place objects against or on top of compressor . Operate compressor in an open area at least 12 inches away from any wall or obstruction that would restrict the flow of fr esh air to the ventilation openings. Operate compressor in a clean, dry well ventilated area. Do not operate unit indoors or in any confined area. Always remain in attendance with the product when it is operating. Always disconnect electrical power by moving pressur e switch lever to the off position and drain tank daily or after each use.
5- ENG D27446 WARNING: Risk of Bursting Air T ank: The following conditions could lead to a weakening of the tank, and result in a violent tank explosion and could cause property damage or serious injury . How T o Prevent It What Could Happen WARNING: Risk fr om Flying Objects HOW TO PREVENT IT WHA T CAN HAPPEN The compressed air str eam can cause soft tissue damage to exposed skin and can propel dirt, chips, loose particles , and small objects at high speed , resulting in pr operty damage or personal injury . Always wear ANSI Z87.1 approved safety glasses with side shields when using the compressor . Never point any nozzle or sprayer toward any part of the body or at other people or animals. Always turn the compressor off and bleed pressur e from the air hose and tank before attempting maintenance, attaching tools or accessories. HAZARD HAZARD Drain tank daily or after each use. If tank develops a leak, replace it immediately with a new tank or replace the entire compr essor . 1. Failure to pr operly drain condensed water from tank, causing rust and thinning of the steel tank. 2. Modifications or attempted repairs to the tank. 3. Unauthorized modifications to the unloader valve, safety valve, or any other components which control tank pressur e. Never drill into, weld, or make any modifications to the tank or its attachments. 4. Excessive vibration can weaken the air tank and cause rupture or explosion The tank is designed to withstand specific operating pressur es. Never make adjustments or parts substitutions to alter the factory set operating pressur es. For essential control of air pr essure, you must install a pressur e regulator and pressur e gauge to the air outlet (if not equipped) of your compressor . Follow the equipment manufacturers recommendation and never exceed the maximum allowable pressur e rating of attachments. Never use compressor to inflate small low pressur e objects such as children’ s toys, footballs, basketballs, etc. A TT ACHMENTS & ACCESSORIES: Exceeding the pressur e rating of air tools, spray guns, air operated accessories, tires, and other inflatables can cause them to explode or fly apart, and could result in serious injury .
6- ENG D27446 HOW TO PREVENT IT WHA T CAN HAPPEN WARNING: Risk to Br eathing WARNING: Risk of Electrical Shock HOW TO PREVENT IT WHA T CAN HAPPEN HAZARD HAZARD Y our air compressor is powered by electricity . Like any other electrically powered device, If it is not used pr operly it may cause electric shock. Repairs attempted by unqualified personnel can result in serious injury or death by electrocution. Electrical Grounding: Failur e to provide adequate grounding to this pr oduct could result in serious injury or death from electr ocution. See grounding instructions. Never operate the compressor outdoors when it is raining or in wet conditions. Never operate compressor with protective covers r emoved or damaged. Any electrical wiring or repairs r equired on this product s hould be performed by authorized service center personnel in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Make certain that the electrical circuit to which the compressor is connected provides pr oper electrical grounding, correct voltage and adequate fuse protection. The compressed air dir ectly from your compressor is not safe for breathing . The air stream may contain carbon monoxide, toxic vapors, or solid particles from the tank. Br eathing these contaminants can cause serious injury or death . Sprayed materials such as paint, paint solvents, paint remover , insecticides, weed killers, may contain harmful vapors and poisons. Air obtained directly fr om the compressor should never be used to supply air for human consumption. In order to use air produced by this compr essor for breathing, suitable filters and in-line safety equipment must be properly installed. In-line filters and safety equipment used in conjunction with the compressor must be capable of treating air to all applicable local and federal codes prior to human consumption. W ork in an area with good cross ventilation. Read and follow the safety instructions provided on the label or safety data sheets for the materials you are spraying. Use a NIOSH/ MSHA approved r espirator designed for use with your specific application.
7- ENG D27446 HOW TO PREVENT IT WHA T CAN HAPPEN WARNING: Risk of Burns T ouching exposed metal such as the compressor head or outlet tubes, can result in serious burns. Never touch any exposed metal parts on compressor during or immediately after operation. Compressor will r emain hot for several minutes after operation. Do not reach ar ound protective shrouds or attempt maintenance until unit has been allowed to cool. HOW TO PREVENT IT WHA T CAN HAPPEN WARNING: Risk fr om Moving Parts Never operate the compressor with guards or covers which are damaged or removed. Moving parts such as the pulley , flywheel, and belt can cause serious injury if they com into contact with you or your clothing. HAZARD HAZARD Any repairs requir ed on this product should be performed by authorized service center personnel. Attempting to operate compressor with damaged or missing parts or attempting to repair compr essor with protective shrouds r emoved can expose you to moving parts and can result in serious injury . HOW TO PREVENT IT WHA T CAN HAPPEN WARNING: Risk or Serious Injury or Pr operty Damage When T ransporting Compressor Oil can leak or spill and could result in fire or br eathing hazard; serious injury or death can result. Oil leaks will damage carpet, paint or other surfaces in vehicles or trailers. Always place compressor on a protective mat when transporting to protect against damage to vehicle fr om leaks. Remove compressor fr om vehicle immediately upon arrival at your destination. (Fire, Inhalation, Damage to Vehicle Surfaces) HAZARD

Become familiar with the operation and controls of the air compressor . Keep operating area clear of all persons, pets, and obstacles. Keep children away fr om the air compressor at all times . Do not operate the product when fatigued or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Stay alert at all times. Never defeat the safety features of this product. Equip area of operation with a fir e extinguisher . Do not operate machine with missing, broken, or unauthorized parts. Unsafe operation of your air compressor could lead to serious injury or death to you or others. HAZARD
9- ENG D27446 GLOSSAR Y DUTY CYCLE Air compressors should be operated on not more than a 50% duty cycle. This means an air compressor that pumps air more than 50% of one hour is considered misuse, because ACCESSORIES Become familiar with these terms before operating the unit. CFM : Cubic feet per minute. SCFM: Standard cubic feet per minute; a unit of measure of air delivery . PSIG: Pounds per square inch gauge; a unit of measure of pr essure. Code Certification: Products that bear one or more of the following marks: UL, CUL, ETL, CETL, have been evaluated by OSHA certified independent safety laboratories and meet the applicable Underwriters Laboratories Standards for Safety . Cut-In Pressur e: While the motor is off, air tank pr essure dr ops as you continue to use your accessory . Accessories • In Line Filter • Tire Air Chuck • Quick Connector Sets (various sizes) • Air Pressur e Regulators • Oil Fog Lubricators • Air Hose:1/4", 3/8" OR 1/2" I.D. in various lengths This unit is capable of powering the following Accessories. The accessories are available through the curr ent Power and Hand T ool Catalog or full-line Sears stores. the air compressor is undersized for the requir ed air demand. Maximum compressor pumping time per hour is 30 minutes. When the tank pressur e drops to a certain low level the motor will restart automatically . The low pressur e at which the motor automatically restarts is called "cut-in" pr essure. Cut-Out Pressur e: When an air compressor is turned on and begins to run, air pressur e in the air tank begins to build. It builds to a certain high pressur e before the motor automatically shuts off, pr otecting your air tank from pr essure higher than its capacity . The high pressur e at which the motor shuts off is called “cut-out” pressur e. Branch Circuit: Cir cuit carrying electricity from electrical panel to outlet. Refer to the selection chart located on the unit to select the tools this unit is capable of powering.
10- ENG D27446 IMPORT ANT : The outlet being used must be installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. 2. Make sur e the outlet being used has the same configuration as the grounded plug. DO NOT USE AN ADAPTER. See illustration. 3. Inspect the plug and cor d before each use. Do not use if there ar e signs of damage. 4. If these gr ounding instructions are not completely understood, or if in doubt as to whether the compressor is pr operly grounded, have the installation checked by a qualified electrician. IMPROPER GROUNDING CAN RESUL T IN ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Do not modify the plug provided. If it does not fit the available outlet, a correct outlet should be installed by a qualified electrician. Repairs to the cord set or plug MUST be made by a qualified electrician. INST ALLA TION GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. In the event of a short circuit, gr ounding reduces the risk of shock by providing an escape wire for the electric curr ent. This air compressor must be pr operly grounded. The portable air compressor is equipped with a cord having a grounding wir e with an appropriate grounding plug (see following illustrations). The plug must be used with an outlet that has been installed and grounded in accor dance with all local codes and ordinances. 1. The cor d set and plug with this unit contains a grounding pin. This plug MUST be used with a grounded outlet. HOW TO SET UP YOUR UNIT Location of the Air Compressor Locate the air compressor in a clean, dry and well ventilated area. The air compressor should be located at least 12" away from the wall or other obstructions that will interfere with the flow of air . The air compressor pump and shroud ar e designed to allow for proper cooling. The ventilation openings on the compressor ar e necessary to maintain proper operating temperature. Do not place rags or other containers on or near these openings. Grounding Pin Grounded Outlets Plug
11- ENG D27446 Extension Cords Using extension cords is not recommended. The use of extension cords will cause voltage to dr op resulting in power loss to the motor and overheating. Attach extra air hoses at the air outlet instead of using extension cords. If an extension cord must be used, be sure it is: • a 3-wire extension cor d that has a 3-blade grounding plug, and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the product • in good condition • no longer than 50 feet • 12 gauge (A WG) or lar ger . (Wire size increases as gauge number decreases. 10 A WG and 8 AWG may also be used. DO NOT USE 14 OR 16 A WG.) V oltage and Circuit Pr otection Refer to the Specification Chart for the voltage and minimum branch circuit r equirements. Certain air compressors can be operated on a 15 amp circuit if the following conditions are met. 1. V oltage supply through branch circuit is 15 amps. 2. Cir cuit is not used to supply any other electrical needs (lights, appliances, etc.). 3. Extension cor ds comply with specifications. 4. Cir cuit is equipped with a 15 amp circuit br eaker or 15 amp time delay fuse. NOTE: If compressor is connected to a circuit pr otected by fuses, use only time delay fuses. Time delay fuses should be marked "D" in Canada and "T" in the US. If any of the above conditions cannot be met, or if operation of the compressor r epeatedly causes interruption of the power , it may be necessary to operate it from a 20 amp circuit. It is not necessary to change the cord set.
12- ENG D27446 T ank Pressur e Gauge: The tank pressur e gauge indicates the reserve air pressur e in the tank. Regulator: Contr ols the air pr essure shown on the outlet pressur e gauge. Pull the knob out and turn clockwise to increase pr essure and counterclockwise to decr ease pressur e. When the desired pr essure is reached push knob in to lock in place. Drain V alve: The drain valve is located at the base of the air tank and is used to drain condensation at the end of each use. Cooling System (not shown) : This compressor contains an advanced design cooling system. At the heart of this cooling system is an engineered fan. It is perfectly normal for this fan to blow air through the vent holes in lar ge amounts. Y ou know that the cooling system is working when air is being expelled. Description of Operation Become familiar with these controls before operating the unit. On/Auto/Off Switch : T urn this switch ON to provide automatic power to the pressur e switch and OFF to remove power at the end of each use. Pressur e Switch: The pressure switch automatically starts the motor when the air tank pressur e drops below the factory set "cut-in” pressur e. It stops the motor when the air tank pressur e reaches the factory set "cut-out” pressur e. Safety V alve: If the pressure switch does not shut off the air compr essor at its "cut-out” pressur e setting, the safety valve will protect against high pressur e by "popping out” at its factory set pressur e (slightly higher than the pressur e switch "cut-out” setting). Outlet Pressur e Gauge: The outlet pressur e gauge indicates the air pressur e available at the outlet side of the regulator . This pressur e is controlled by the r egulator and is always less than or equal to the tank pressur e. OPERA TION Know Y our Air Compressor READ THIS OWNER’S MANUAL AND SAFETY RULES BEFORE OPERA TING YOUR UNIT . Compare the illustrations with your unit to familiarize yourself with the location of various controls and adjustments. Save this manual for futur e refer ence. 13- ENG D27446 Air Compressor Pump (not shown): Compresses air into the air tank. W orking air is not available until the compressor has raised the air tank pressur e above that required at the air outlet. Check V alve: When the air compressor is operating, the check valve is "open”, allowing compressed air to enter the air tank. When the air compressor r eaches "cut-out” pressur e, the check valve "closes”, allowing air pressur e to remain inside the air tank. Before First Start-up Br eak-in Pr ocedur e Serious damage may result if the following break-in instructions ar e not closely followed. This procedur e is required befor e the air compressor is put into service and when the check valve or a complete compressor pump has been replaced. 1. Make sur e the On/Auto/Off lever is in the "OFF" position. NOTE: Pull coupler back until it clicks to prevent air fr om escaping through the quick connect. Regulator On/Auto/ Off Lever How to Use Y our Unit How to Stop: 1. Set the On/Auto/Of f lever to "OFF". 2. Plug the power cord into the correct branch circuit receptacle. (Refer to V oltage and Circuit Protection paragraph in the Installation section of this manual.) 3. Open the drain valve fully (counterclockwise) to permit air to escape and prevent air pressur e build up in the air tank during the break-in period. 4. Move the On/Auto/Of f lever to "ON/AUTO" position. The compressor will start. 5. Run the compr essor for 15 minutes. Make sure the drain valve is open and there is minimal air pressur e build-up in tank. 6. After 15 minutes, close the drain valve (clockwise). The air receiver will fill to "cut-out" pressur e and the motor will stop. The compressor is now r eady for use. Quick Connect Check V alve
14- ENG D27446 How to Start: 1. T ur n the On/Auto/Off lever to "AUTO" and allow tank pressur e to build. Motor will stop when tank pressur e reaches "cut-out" pressur e. 2. Pull the r egulator knob out and turn clockwise to increase pressur e. When the desired pressur e is reached push knob in to lock in place. The compressor is ready for use. NOTE: Always operate the air compressor in well-ventilated ar eas free of gasoline or other combustible vapors. If the compressor is being used to operate a sprayer DO NOT place near the spray area. Before Each Start-Up: 1. Place On/Auto/Of f lever to "OFF" and close air regulator . 2. Pull r egulator knob out, turn counterclockwise until it stops. Push knob in to lock in place. 3. Attach hose and accessories. NOTE: The hose or accessory will requir e a quick connect plug if the air outlet is equipped with a quick connect socket. T oo much air pressur e causes a hazardous risk of bursting. Check the manufacturer’ s maximum pressur e rating for air tools and accessories. The regulator outlet pressur e must never exceed the maximum pressur e rating.
15- ENG D27446 MAINTENANCE Customer Responsibilities Daily or after each use Before each use ● ● Check Safety V alve Drain T ank NOTE: See "Operation" section for the location of controls. Unit cycles automatically when power is on. When performing maintenance, you may be exposed to voltage sources, compr essed air , or moving parts. Personal injuries can occur . Before performing any maintenance or repair , disconnect power source from the compr essor and bleed off all air pressur e. T o Check Safety V alve If the safety valve does not work properly , over -pressurization may occur , causing air tank rupture or an explosion. 1. Befor e starting compressor , pull the ring on the safety valve to make sure that the safety valve operates freely . If the valve is stuck or does not operate smoothly , it must be replaced with the same type of valve. T o Drain T ank 1. Set the On/Auto/Of f lever to "OFF". 2. Pull the r egulator knob out and turn clockwise to set the outlet pressur e to zero. 3. Remove the air tool or accessory . 4. Pull ring on safety valve allowing air to bleed from the tank until tank pressur e is approximately 20 psi. Release safety valve ring. 5. Drain water fr om air tank by opening drain valve (counter - clockwise) on bottom of tank. W ater will condense in the air tank. If not drained, water will corrode and weaken the air tank causing a risk of air tank rupture. 6. After the water has been drained, close the drain valve (clockwise). The air compressor can now be stored. NOTE : If drain valve is plugged, release all air pr essure. The valve can then be removed, cleaned, the reinstalled.
16- ENG D27446 SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS Unit cycles automatically when power is on. When doing Maintenance, you may be exposed to voltage sources, compr essed air or moving parts. Personal injuries can occur . Before performing any Maintenance or repair , unplug the compressor and bleed of f all air pressur e. ALL MAINTENANCE AND REP AIR OPERA TIONS NOT LISTED MUST BE PERFORMED BY A TRAINED SERVICE TECHNICIAN. T o Replace or Clean Check V alve 1. Release all air pr essure fr om air tank. See “T o Drain T ank" in the Maintenance section. 2. Unplug unit. Check V alve Hose Clamp Before servicing: Unplug or disconnect electrical supply to the air compressor . Bleed tank of pressur e Allow the air compressor to cool. 3. Remove the hose by r emoving the hose clamp. NOTE: The hose clamp is not reusable. Y ou must purchase a new hose clamp, see the Parts List Manual or purchase a standar d hose clamp at a local hardwar e store. 4. Unscr ew the check valve (turn counter -clockwise) using a socket wrench. 5. Make sur e the valve disc moves freely inside the check valve and the spring holds the disc in the upper , closed position. The check valve may be cleaned with a solvent, such as paint and varnish remover . 6. Apply sealant to the check valve threads. Reinstall the check valve (turn clockwise). 7. Replace hose and new hose clamp. 8. Perform the Br eak-in Procedur e. See "Break-in Pr ocedure" in the Operation section.
17- ENG D27446 6. Assemble the r egulator and orient as shown. NOTE : Arrow indicates flow of air . Make sure it is pointing in the direction of air flow . 7. Reapply pipe sealant to outlet pressur e gauge and quick connect. 8. Reassemble outlet pr essure gauge and quick connect. Orient outlet pressur e gauge to read correctly . Tighten connect with wrench. T o Replace Regulator 1. Release all air pr essure fr om air tank. See "T o Drain T ank" in the Maintenance section. 2. Unplug unit. 3. Using an adjustable wr ench remove the outlet pr essure gauge and quick connect from the regulator . 4. Remove the r egulator . 5. Apply pipe sealant tape to the nipple on the standpipe. 18- ENG D27446 STORAGE Before you stor e the air compressor , make sure you do the following: 1. Review the "Maintenance" section on the preceding pages and perform scheduled maintenance as necessary . 2. Set the On/Auto/Of f lever to “OFF”. 3. T ur n the regulator counterclockwise and set the outlet pressur e to zero. 4. Remove the air tool or accessory . 5. Pull ring on safety valve allowing air to bleed from the tank until tank pressur e is approximately 20 psi. Release safety valve ring. 6. Drain water fr om air tank by opening drain valve on bottom of tank. W ater will condense in the air tank. If not drained, water will corrode and weaken the air tank causing a risk of air tank rupture. 7. After the water has been drained, close the drain or drain valve. NOTE: If drain valve is plugged, release all air pr essure. The valve can then be removed, cleaned, then reinstalled. 8. Pr otect the electrical cord and air hose from damage (such as being stepped on or run over). Wind them loosely around the compressor handle. (If so equipped) Store the air compr essor in a clean and dry location.
19- ENG D27446 TROUBLESHOOTING Performing repairs may expose voltage sour ces, moving parts or compressed air sour ces, moving parts or compressed air sour ces. Personal injury may occur . Prior to attempting any repairs, unplug the air compr essor and bleed off all air tank air pressur e. PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Pressur e switch does not shut off motor when compressor r eaches “cut- out” pressur e. Pressur e switch “cut-out” too high. If there is an excessive amount of pressur e drop when the accessory is used, adjust the regulator following the instructions in the "Description of Operation" paragraph in the “Operation Section. NOTE: Adjust the regulated pressur e under flow conditions (while accessory is being used). Possible defect in safety valve. Operate safety valve manually by pulling on ring. If valve still leaks, it should be replaced. Defective check valve. Remove and clean, or replace. Knocking Noise. Compressor is not supplying enough air to operate accessories. Prolonged excessive use of air . Compressor is not lar ge enough for air requir ement. Hole in hose. Check valve restricted. Air leaks. Restricted air intake filter . Decrease amount of air usage. Check the accessory air requir ement. If it is higher than the SCFM or pressur e supplied by your air compressor , you need a lar ger compr essor . Check and replace if requir ed. Remove and clean, or replace. Tighten fittings. Clean or replace air intake filter . Do not operate the air compressor with the filter removed. Refer to the "Air Filter" paragraph in the Maintenance" section. Damaged regulator . Replace. Regulator knob has continuous air leak. Check for proper fuse. Y ou should use a time delay fuse. 3. Check for low voltage conditions and/or proper extension cord. 4. Disconnect the other electrical appliances from circuit or operate the compressor on its own branch circuit. Motor overload protection switch has tripped. Este compresor de air e debe estar adecuadamente conectado a tierra. El compresor port á til de air e est á equipado con un cable que tiene un conductor destinado a tierra, con una espiga apropiada para su conexi ó n (ver las siguientes ilustraciones). El enchufe debe ser utilizado con un toma corriente que haya sido instalado y conectado a tierra de acuerdo a todos los c ó digos y ordenanzas locales. 1. El cable que acompa ñ a a esta unidad tiene una espiga para conexi ó n a tierra. Esta DEBE ser utilizada con un tomacorriente conectado a tierra. CÓMO PREP ARAR LA UNIDAD Ubicación del compresor de air e Ubique al compresor de air e en una zona limpia, seca y bien ventilada. La bomba del compresor de air e y su carcasa han sido dise ñ adas para permitir un enfriamiento adecuado. Las aberturas de ventilaci ó n del compresor r esultan - entonces - necesarias para el mantenimiento de una adecuada temperatura de funcionamiento. No coloque g éneros o contenedor es, encima, ni en las proximidades de dichas aberturas. 33 - FR D27446 Rallonges Utilisez un boyau d'air suppl émentaire au lieu d'une rallonge pour éviter une chute de tension, une perte de puissance et la surchauf fe du moteur . Si une rallonge doit être utilis é e, s'assur er : • d'utiliser une rallonge à trois fils, munie d'une fiche à trois lames avec mise à la terre et une prise de courant à tr ois fentes qui accepte la fiche de la rallonge; • qu'elle est en bon é tat; • qu'elle n'excè de pas 50 pi (15,5 m); • que les fils sont d'un calibre minimum de 14 AWG. (La gr osseur du fil augmente comme le num é ro de calibr e diminue. Les fils de calibre 10 A WG et 8 AWG peuvent é galement ê tre utilisé s. NE P AS UTILISER UN FIL DE CALIBRE 14 OU 16 AWG.) Protection contr e la surtension et protection du cir cuit Consulter le Guide des pi èces pour conna î tre les exigences minimums concernant la tension et le circuit de d é rivation. Certains mod è les de compresseur d'air peuvent fonctionner sur un circuit de 15 amp è res si les conditions suivantes sont satisfaites : 1. la tension d'alimentation au circuit de d é rivation est de 15 A; 2. le circuit n'est pas utilis é pour alimenter d'autres dispositifs é lectriques (lumiè res, appar eils é lectriques, etc.); 3. les rallonges sont conformes aux sp écifications; 4. le circuit est muni d'un coupe-cir cuit de 15 A ou d'un fusible retar d é de 15 A. REMARQUE : Si un compresseur est reli é à un circuit pr ot é gé par des fusibles, n'utilisez que des fusibles à retar dement. Les fusibles à retar dement portent un " D " au Canada et un " T " aux É tats-Unis. Si une des conditions ci-dessus ne peut ê tre satisfaite, ou si l'utilisation du compresseur entra îne continuellement une panne de courant, il sera peut ê tre n é cessaire de brancher le compr esseur sur un circuit de 20 amp è r es. Il n'est pas n é cessaire de r emplacer le cordon dans un tel cas.
34 - FR D27446 D27446 Régulateur : Le r é gulateur contr ôle la pression d'air indiqu é sur le manom è tr e de sortie. Tirez le bouton et tournez-le dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre pour augmenter la pression et dans le sens contraire pour r é duir e la pression. Une fois que la pression d é sir é e est atteinte, poussez le bouton pour le verrouiller . Robinet de vidange : Le robinet de vidange est situ é à la base du r é servoir d'air et est utilis é pour vidanger la condensation apr è s chaque utilisation. Système de refr oidissement (non illustré) : Ce compresseur d'air of fre un syst è me de refr oidissement de pointe. Le c œur de ce syst è me de refr oidissement et un ventilateur . Il est tout à fait normal que ce ventilateur souffle une grande quantit é d'air à travers les trous d'a ération. L'expulsion d'air indique que le syst è me de refr oidissement est en fonction. Description du fonctionnement Familiarisez-vous avec ces commandes avant d'utiliser l'appareil. Interrupteur marche/automatique/arrêt "On/Auto/Off": Placez cet interrupteur à la position "ON" pour alimenter le manostat et à la position "OFF" pour couper le courant apr ès chaque utilisation. Manostat : Le manostat d é marre automatiquement le moteur lorsque la pression dans le r é servoir d'air tombe à une valeur inf é rieure à la "pression d'amor ç age" r égl ée à l'usine. Il arr ê te le moteur lorsque la pression dans le r é servoir d'air atteint la "pression de rupture" r é gl ée à l'usine. Soupape de sûreté : Si le manostat n'arr ê te pas le compresseur d'air lorsque la "pression de ruptur e" est atteinte, la soupape de s û ret é prot è ge contr e toute surpression en "sautant" à la valeur de pression é tablie à l'usine (une pression l ég è rement sup é rieur e à la "pression de rupture" é tablie pour le manostat. Manomètre de sortie : Le manom è tr e de sortie indique la pression d'air disponible à la sortie du ré gulateur . Cette pr ession est contr ô lée par le r égulateur et est toujours inf é rieure à ou é gale à la pression du r é servoir . Manomètre du réservoir : Le manom è tr e du r é servoir indique la pression d'air en r é serve dans le r é servoir . Soupape de retenue : Lorsque le compresseur fonctionne, la soupape de retenue est "ouverte", permettant à l'air comprim é d'entrer dans le r é servoir d'air . Quand le compresseur d'air atteint la "pression de ruptur e", la soupape de retenue "se ferme", permettant à l'air pressuris é de demeur er à l'int érieur du r é servoir d'air . Utilisation de l'apparei l Arrêt de l'appareil : 1. R é glez le levier marche/automatique/ arr ê t "On/Auto/Off" à la position d'arr ê t "OFF". Avant le démarrage Procédur es de rodage Le compresseur d'air peut subir d'importants dommages si les procédur es de rodage ne sont pas suivies à la lettre. Cette proc édur e doit être ex é cut ée avant d'utiliser le compresseur d'air pour la premi è r e fois et apr ès le remplacement de la soupape de retenue ou de la pompe compl è te du compresseur . 1. Assurez-vous que le levier marche/automatique/arr ê t "On/Auto/Off" est en position d'arr ê t "OFF". REMARQUE: Tirez le raccor d vers l'arri è re jusqu' à ce qu'il s'enclenche afin d'emp ê cher la fuite d'air du raccord à connexion rapide. Soupape de retenue 2. Branchez le cordon d'alimentation dans la prise de courant du circuit de d é rivation appropri é . (Consultez le paragraphe sur la protection contr e la surtension et la protection du cir cuit de la section sur l'installation de ce guide.) 3. Ouvrez compl è tement le r obinet de vidange (en tournant dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montr e) afin de permettre à l'air de sortir et pour emp ê cher une accumulation de pression dans le r é servoir d'air lors de la p é riode de rodage. 4. Placez le levier "On/Auto/Off" à la position "ON/AUTO". Le compresseur se mettra en mar che. 5. Faire fonctionner le compr esseur pendant 15 minutes. Assurez-vous que le robinet de vidange est ouvert et que la pression d'air accumul é e dans le r é servoir est minimale. 6. Apr è s 15 minutes, fermez le robinet de vidange (en tournant dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre). Le r é servoir d'air se remplira jusqu' à ce que la "pression de ruptur e" soit atteinte et le moteur s'arr ê tera ensuite. Le compresseur d'air est maintenant pr ê t pour l'utilisation. 36 - FR D27446 D27446 Mise en marche : 1. Placez le levier "On/Auto/Off" à la position "AUTO" et attendez jusqu' à ce que la pression augmente. Le moteur s'arr ê tera lorsque la pression dans le r é servoir atteint la "pression de ruptur e". 2. Tirez le bouton du r égulateur et tournez-le dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre pour augmenter la pression. Une fois que la pr ession d é sir é e est atteinte, poussez le bouton pour le verrouiller . Le compresseur d'air est maintenant pr ê t pour l'utilisation. REMARQUE : Utilisez toujours le compresseur d'air dans une r é gion bien a ér é e, sans vapeurs d'essence ni autres vapeurs combustibles. Si le compresseur est utilis é avec un vaporisateur , NE P AS placer le compresseur pr è s de la r é gion de vaporisation. Avant chaque mise en mar che : 1. Placez le levier "On/Auto/Off" à la position "OFF". 2. Tirez le bouton du r égulateur et tournez-le dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montre jusqu' à ce qu'il s'arr ête. Poussez le bouton pour le verrouiller . 3. Raccordez le boyau et les accessoires. REMARQUE : Le boyau ou l'accessoire doit ê tr e muni d'une fiche à connexion rapide si la sortie d'air est é quipé e d'une douille à connexion rapide. Une pression d'air trop élevée conduit à un risque dangereux d'éclatement. Vérifiez la pression nominale maximum du fabricant pour tous les outils pneumatiques et accessoires utilisés. La pr ession de sortie du régulateur ne doit jamais excéder la pression nominale maximum.

L'appareil fonctionne automatiquement en cycles lorsqu'il est sous tension. En effectuant l'entr etien, vous pouvez être exposé aux sour ces de tension, à l'air comprimé ou aux pièces mobiles et subir ainsi des blessures corpor elles. Avant d'entrepr endre tout entretien ou réparation, débranchez l'appareil et purgez tout l'air pressurisé du réservoir . Vidange du réservoir 1. R é glez le levier marche/automatique/arr ê t "On/Auto/Off" à la position d'arr ê t "OFF". 2. Tirez le bouton du r égulateur vers l'ext é rieur et tournez-le dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre pour r é gler la pression de sortie à z é ro . 3. Enlevez l'outil pneumatique ou l'accessoire. 4. Tirez l'anneau de la soupape de s û ret é pour permettre à l'air de pur ger du r é servoir jusqu' à ce que la pression dans le r é servoir se situe à environ 20 lb/po 2 . Rel âchez l'anneau de la soupape de s û ret é . 5. Vidangez l'eau du r é servoir en ouvrant le robinet de vidange. (T our nez dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montre) situ é en bas du r é servoir . L'eau dans le réservoir d'air peut condenser . Si l'eau n'est pas vidangée, cela risque de corroder et d'affaiblir le réservoir d'air , produisant ainsi un risque de rupture du réservoir d'air . 6. Une fois la vidange de l'eau termin é e, fermez le robinet de vidange (tournez dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre). Le compr esseur d'air peut maintenant ê tre rang é . REMARQUE : Si le robinet de vidange est engor g é , lib é rez tout l'air pr essuris é. Le robinet de vidange peut alors êtr e enlev é , nettoy é et r éinstall é . Vérification de la soupape de sûreté Si la soupape de sûreté ne fonctionne pas correctement, une surpression pourrait avoir lieu et causer une rupture ou une explosion du réservoir à air . 1. A vant de mettre en marche le compresseur , tirez sur l'anneau de la soupape de s û ret é pour vous assurer que la soupape fonctionne librement. Si la soupape est coinc é e ou qu'elle ne bouge pas librement, elle doit ê tr e remplac é e par une autre soupape du m ême type.
38 - FR D27446 D27446 ENTRETIEN ET RÉGLAGES Le compresseur d'air fonctionne automatiquement lorsqu'il est sous tension. En effectuant l'entretien, vous pourriez êtr e exposé aux sources de tension, à de l'air comprimé ou aux pièces en mouvement et subir ainsi des blessures corpor elles. Avant de procéder à tout entr etien ou réparation, débranchez le compresseur et purgez tout l'air pressurisé. TOUS LES SERVICES D'ENTRETIEN NE FIGURANT P AS ICI DOIVENT ÊTRE EXÉCUTÉS P AR UN TECHNICIEN QUALIFIÉ. Remplacement ou nettoyage de la soupape de retenue 1. D é char gez tout l'air pressuris é du r é servoir d'air . V oir la partie intitul é e "Vidange du r é servoir" de la section sur l'entretien. 2. D é branchez le compr esseur d'air . 3. Retir ez le collier du boyau et ensuite le boyau. REMARQUE : Le collier du boyau ne peut pas ê tre ré utilisé . Il faut se pr ocurer un collier de boyau neuf. V oir la Liste des pi è ces ou achetez un collier de boyau standard d'une quincaillerie locale. 4. À l'aide d'une cl é à douille, d é vissez la soupape de retenue (en tournant dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montre). 5. Assur ez-vous que le disque de soupape se d éplace librement à l'int érieur de la soupape de retenue et que la tension du ressort r etient le disque en position é levé e et fermé e. La soupape de retenue peut ê tre nettoy é e à l'aide d'un solvant, tel qu'un d é capant à peinture et vernis. 6. Appliquez un pr oduit d' é tanché ité sur les filets de la soupape. R éinstaller la soupape de retenue (en tournant dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre). 7. Replacez le boyau avec un collier de boyau neuf. 8. Ef fectuez la proc é dure de r odage. V oir la partie intitul ée "Proc é dur es de rodage" de la section sur l'utilisation. Soupape de retenue Collier du boyau Avant de procéder à l'entretien : • Débranchez le compresseur d'air de la source d'alimentation électrique. • Purgez l'air pressurisé du réservoir . • Attendez jusqu'à ce que le compresseur d'air soit r efroidi.
39 - FR D27446 6. Assemblez le r égulateur et orientez-le tel qu'illustr é . REMARQUE : La fl è che indique le sens du d é bit d'air . Assur ez-vous qu'elle est dirig é e dans la direction du d é bit d'air . 7. Appliquez un produit d' é tanché ité au manom è tre de sortie et au raccor d à connexion rapide. 8. Assemblez le manom è tre de sortie et le raccord à connexion rapide. Orientez le manom è tre de sortie de fa ç on à ce qu'il indique la pression correcte. Serr ez le raccord à l'aide d'une cl é . Remplacement du régulateur 1. D é char gez tout l'air pressuris é du r é servoir d'air . V oir la partie intitul é e "Vidange du r é servoir" de la section sur l'entretien. 2. D é branchez le compresseur d'air . 3. À l'aide d'une cl é r é glable, retir ez du r é gulateur le manom è tre de sortie et le raccord à connexion rapide. 4. Retirez le r é gulateur . 5. 40 - FR D27446 D27446 RANGEMENT Avant de ranger le compr esseur d'air , effectuez les é tapes suivantes : 1. Revoyez la section intitul é e "Entretien" des pages pr é cédentes et ex é cutez l'entretien r equis. 2. Placez le levier "On/Auto/Off" à la position "OFF". 3. T our nez le r égulateur dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montr e et r é glez la pression de sortie à z é ro . 4. D é branchez l'outil pneumatique ou l'accessoire. 5. Tirez l'anneau de la soupape de s û ret é pour purger l'air du r é servoir jusqu' à ce que la pression dans le r é servoir soit d'environ 20 lb/po2. Rel â chez l'anneau de la soupape de s û ret é. 6. Vidangez l'eau du r é servoir d'air en ouvrant le robinet de vidange situ é en bas du r é servoir . L'eau dans le réservoir d'air peut condenser . Si le réservoir n'est pas vidangé, l'eau corrodera et affaiblira les par ois du réservoir d'air , causant ainsi un risque d'éclatement du réservoir . 7. Une fois la vidange de l'eau termin é e, fermez le robinet de vidange. REMARQUE : Si le robinet de vidange est engor g é, lib érez tout l'air pr essuris é . Le robinet de vidange peut alors ê tr e enlev é , nettoy é et r éinstall é . 8. Prot é gez le cor don é lectrique et le boyau d'air contre tout dommage (de fa çon à ce qu'ils ne soient pas coinc é s ou écras é s). Enroulez-les, sans contrainte, autour de la poign é e du compresseur d'air (le cas é ché ant). Rangez le compresseur d'air dans un endroit pr opre et sec.
41 - FR D27446 DÉP ANNAGE En effectuant des réparations au compr esseur , il se peut que vous soyez exposé aux sources de tension, aux pièces mobiles ou aux sources d'air comprimé qui risquent de causer des blessures corpor elles. Débranchez le compresseur et purgez l'air pressurisé du réservoir avant d'entamer toute réparation. PROBLÈME CAUSE CORRECTION Le manostat n ’ arr ête pas le moteur lorsque le compresseur d'air atteint la "pression de ruptur e". La "pression de ruptur e" du manostat est trop é lev ée. D é placez le levier “ On/Auto/Off" à la position "OFF". Si l'appareil ne s'arr ê te pas, contactez un technicien qualifi é . Contactez un technicien qualifi é . Pression excessive - la soupape de s û ret é se soul è ve. Les raccords des tubes ne sont pas assez serr é s. Resserrez les raccor ds l à où on peut entendre l'air s' é chapper . V é rifiez les raccords à l'aide d'une solution d'eau savonneuse. Ne Pas T r op Serrer . Fuites d'air aux raccords. Fuites d'air au r é servoir d'air ou aux soudures du r é servoir . R é servoir d'air d é fectueux. Le r é servoir d'air doit ê tre r emplac é . Ne tentez pas de r é parer les fuites. Ne pas percer , souder ni modifier autrement le réservoir d'air . Le réservoir risque de s'affaiblir et peut éclater ou exploser . Fuites d'air entre la t ê te et la plaque de la soupape. Joint d' é tanch éit é accusant une fuite. Contactez un technicien qualifi é . Fuite d ’ air à la soupape de s û ret é . D é fectuosit é possible dans la soupape de s û ret é . Faites fonctionner la soupape manuellement en tirant sur l'anneau. Si les fuites ne sont pas é limin ées, la soupape devrait ê tre r emplac é e. Soupape de retenue d é fectueuse. Retirez et nettoyez ou r emplacez la soupape. Cognements.
42 - FR D27446 D27446 Le r égulateur ne ferme pas l'orifice de sortie d'air . R é gulateur endommag é Remplacez le r é gulateur . Une l é gè re chute de pr ession est consid é ré e normale. S'il y a une chute excessive de pression lorsqu'un accessoir e est utilis é , ajustez le r é gulateur en suivant les directives du paragraphe intitul é "Description du fonctionnement" de la section sur l'utilisation. REMARQUE : Ajustez la pression du r é gulateur lorsqu'il y a un d é bit d'air (c.- à -d., pendant l'utilisation d'un accessoire). Le compresseur d'air ne fournit pas suffisamment d'air pour faire fonctionner les accessoires. Utilisation prolong ée et excessive de l'air . Le compresseur n'est pas assez gr os pour la quantit é d'air requise. T r ou dans le boyau. Soupape de retenue obstru é e. Fuites d'air . Diminuez la quantit é d'air utilis é . V é rifiez les exigences en air de l'accessoire. Si elles sont plus é levé es que la valeur SCFM (pi 3 /min) ou la pression pr oduite par le compresseur , vous avez besoin d'un compresseur plus gr os. V é rifiez et remplacez le boyau au besoin. Retirez et nettoyez ou r emplacez la soupape de retenue. Serrez les raccor ds. R é gulateur endommag é . Remplacez le r é gulateur . Fuite d'air continue au bouton du r é gulateur .
