All HP notebook display panels adhere to strict quality and reliability specifications. A small percentage of display panels may ha ve minor cosmetic imperfections that appear as bright or dark dots (described below) in the view able area: ✎ This is consistent with industry st andards and common to all display panel types used by notebook PC vendors and is not specific to any HP model or product line. ■ A pixel consists of 1 red, 1 green, an d 1 blue subpix el, each of which is commonly referred to as a dot. 22 G e t t i ng S t a r te d Produc t infor mation ■ A pixel imperfection may manifest as either alw ays turned on (a bright spot on a dark background) or as always of f (a dark spot on a bright background). ■ A subpixel imperfection is less visible than a whole pix el imperfection, because it is small and may be visi ble only on a specif ic background. HP expects that, o ver time, the industry will continue to impro ve its ability to produce displays with fewer cosmetic imperf ections, and HP will adjust guidelines as improv ements are made. Products with HP Br oadband Wir eless Modules THIS DEVICE MEETS INTERN A TION A L GUIDELINES FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO FREQUENCY RADIA TION. The HP Broadband W ireless Module in your notebook is a radio transmitter and recei ver . The device is designed not to e xceed the limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) recommended b y internatio nal guidelines (ICNIRP). These limits are part of comprehensi ve guidelines that establish permitted le vels of RF radiation for the general population. The guide lines were dev eloped b y independent scientific or ganizations through periodic and thorough e v aluation of scientific studies. The de vice also meets the Euro pean R&TTE directiv es, including the protection of the health and the safety of the user and any other person. The exposure standard for mobile de vices employs a unit of measurement kno wn as the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR).* The SAR was obtained by testing the device at standard operating positions wi th the de vice transmitting at its highest certified po wer level in all tested frequenc y bands. The SAR information for your computer , including the recommended minimum distance from the body , is av ailable on the HP W eb site at http://www .hp.com/broadbandwireless . The actual SAR of the de vice while operating can be well below the maximum v alue, because the de vice operates at multiple power le ve ls and uses only the power required to reach the network. When installed in the notebook comp uter , this device meets RF exposure guidelines when the antennae are position ed at a minimum distance from the body . In order to transmit data or messages, th is de vice requires a quality connection to the network. In some cases, transmission of data or messages may be delayed until such a connection becomes av ailable. Be sure that the recommended distance is observed until the transmission is complete. *The non-FCC, international guidelines st ate that the SAR limit for mobile de vices used by the public is 2.0 w atts/kilogram (W/kg) av eraged ov er 10 grams of body tissue. The guidelines incorporate a substant ial margin of safety to gi ve additional protection for the public and to account fo r any v ariations in measurements. SAR v alues may vary depending on national reporting requirements and the netw ork band. 462939-001.book Page 28 Thur sday, March 20, 2008 9:03 AM
