Slide the battery 1 into the battery bay until it is seated. The battery release latches 2 automatically lock the battery into place. 1â4 Getting Started

1â6 Getting Started F irs t - time setu p When the computer recei ves A C po wer , the battery begins to charge and the battery light (on the front of the computer) is turned on. When the battery is fully char ged, the battery light is turned of f. Lea v e the computer connected to e xternal po wer until the battery is fully charged and the battery light is turned of f. â A partially charged ne w battery can run the computer after software setup is complete, b ut battery char ge displays will not be accurate until the ne w battery has been fully charged.

1â8 Getting Started F irs t - time setu p 3. Press the power b utton 1 . The po wer light next to the po wer button 2 and the po wer light on the front of the computer 3 are turned on, and you are prompted to begin softw are setup.
F irs t -time setup Step 4 : Set up the so ft w ar e After the computer is turned on, it will go through a brief software setup. F ollo w the on-screen instructions to set up the software. Note the follo wing: â After you respond to the setup prompt, you must complete the entire setup process without interruption. Setup time va r i e s . â During software setup, the computer may pause periodically for se veral minutes. These normal pauses are indicated b y an hourglass icon. Ã CAUT ION: If yo u ar e prom pted to selec t an oper ating s ys tem language , choo se car efull y . On some models, the languages that y ou do not choo se ar e deleted f rom the s yst em and cannot be r estor ed during soft ware setup . â T o re gister the operating system and the computer , you must be connected to the Internet. For more information about connecting to the Internet, refer to Appendix B, â Connect to the Internet from your home â in this guide. If you do not register during softw are setup, you can do so at any time after softw are setup is complete. Getting Started 1â9
1â1 0 Getting Started F irs t - time setu p Step 5: Create reco v er y disc s (recommend ed) After setting up the computer for the f irst time, you can create a set of recov ery discs of your full factory image using HP Backup and Recov ery Manager . The reco very discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and restore the operating system and software programs to f actory settings in case of system failure or instability . Refer to Appendix C, â Backup and recov ery , â for detailed instructions.
Getting Started 2â1 2 Ne x t st ep s Install a ddition al h ard w are and soft w are Id entif y and ins tall hardw are T o see a list of hardware installed on the computer: 1. Select Start > Computer > System properties . 2. In the left pane, click Device Manager . â Windows includes the User Account Control feature to improve the security of your computer. You may be prompted for your permission or password for tasks such as installing applications, ru nning utilities, or changing Windows settings. Refer to Wi ndows online Help for more information. Y ou can also add hardware or modify your de vice configurations using De vice Manager . T o install additional hardware, such as an optional printer , follo w the instructions provided b y the hardware manuf acturer to install the de vice and any required dri vers.

T o see a list of the ready-to-use software preinstalled on the computer: 1. Select Start > All Pr ograms . 2. Double-click the program you want to open. â Pr ovided on a CD or D VD. T o install a software program from a disc: 1. Insert the disc into your optical dri ve. 2. When the installation wizard opens, follo w the on-screen instructions. 3. Restart the computer if prompted to do so. â Pr eloaded software. This is software pro vided on the hard dri ve, b ut not ready to use. T o locate or install preloaded software or dri v ers: 1. Select Start > All Pr ograms > Software Setup . 2. Follo w the on-screen instructions and select the check box ne xt to the software program or dri v er you want to install. â For details about using softw are included with the computer , refer to the software manuf acturerâ s instructions, which may be provided on disc, as online Help f iles, or on the manufacturerâ s W eb site.
Ne xt steps Protect t h e comp u ter The information in this section is designed to protect the computer from damage caused by a virus, a security breach, a po wer surge, or unsafe operation. Protect t he com pu ter from v iruses When you use the computer for e-mail, network, or Internet access, you expose it to computer viruses that can disable the operating system, programs, or utilities or cause them to function abnormally . Anti virus software can detect most viruses, destroy them, and in most cases, repair any damage the y ha ve caused. T o provide ongoing protection against ne wly disco vered viruses, anti virus software must be k ept up to date. Norton Internet Security is preinstalled on the computer . For information about using the Norton Internet Security software, select Start > All Pr ograms > Norton Intern et Security . For more information about computer viruses, type viruses in the Search f ield in Help and Support. Protect y our s y stem fil es The HP Backup and Recov ery Manager pro vides se veral w ays to back up the system and to recov er optimal system functionality . 2â4 Getting Started Ne xt steps Protect y our priv acy When you use the computer for e-mail, network, or Internet access, it is possible for unauthorized persons to obtain information about you or the computer . T o optimize the pri v acy protectio n features included with the computer: â K eep the operating system and software updated. Man y software programs contain security enhancements. â Use a f irew all. A fi rew all is software that monitors incoming traf fic on the computer . Some fire walls also monitor outgoing traf fi c. Protect t he com p uter from po wer sur ges T o protect the computer from the po wer surges that may be caused by an uncertain po wer supply or an electrical storm: â Plug the computer po wer cord into an optional, high-quality surge protector . Surge protectors are a v ailable from most computer or electronics retailers. â During an electrical storm, eith er run the computer on battery po wer or shut do wn the computer and unplug the po wer cord. â If applicable to your location, provide sur ge protection on the modem cable that connects the modem to a telephone line. T elephone line surge protectors are a v ailable from most computer or electronic retailers in some regions.

Ne xt steps Conn ec t to a com pu ter net w ork The computer may ha ve the follo wing networking capabilities: â Local area network (LAN) â W ireless local area network (WLAN) â Bluetooth® If you plan to connect the computer to a home of fice LAN or WLAN, you must ha ve a router or wireless router . Refer to the documentation included with the router for additional information, or refer to Help and Support for information on netw orking. If you need assistance to connect to a company LAN or WLAN, contact your network administrator . If the computer has a Bluetooth de vice, you can create a personal area network (P AN) to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled de vices, such as computers, telephones, printers, headsets, speakers, and cameras. F or information on using a Bluetooth de vice, refer to the Bluetooth online Help. â For information on connecting th e computer to the Internet when you are not connected to a network, refer to Appendix B, â Connect to the Internet from your home .â Getting Started 2â7
2â8 Getting Started Ne xt steps Updat e y ou r s oftw ar e Most software, including the operating system, is updated frequently by the manuf acturer or provider . Important updates to the software included with the computer may ha ve been released since the computer left the factory . Some updates may af fect the way the computer responds to optional software or e xternal de vices. Many updates pro vide security enhancements. Update the operating system and other software pro vided on the computer as soon as the computer is connected to the Internet. T o access update links for th e operating system and other software pro vided on the computer: » Select Start > Help and Support . Locate t h e user guides User guides, regulatory and safety notices, and other resources that provide information about using the computer are a vailable through Help and Support (select Start > Help and Support > User Guides ), or on a User Guides disc included with some models. Ne xt steps T urn of f t h e com pu ter correctly Whene ver possible, turn of f the computer by using the standard shutdo wn procedure: 1. Save your w ork and close all open programs. 2. Shut down the computer through the operating system b y clicking Start , clicking the arro w next to the Lock button, and then clicking Shut Down . If you are unable to turn of f the computer with these procedures, try the follo wing emergenc y procedures in the sequence provided: Ã CAUT ION: Emer gency shut do wn pr ocedures r esult in the loss o f unsav ed info rmation . â Press ctrl alt delete . Then, in the lo wer-right corner of the screen, click the Pow e r button. â Press and hold the po wer button for at least 5 seconds. â Disconnect the computer from external po wer and remove the battery . 3 T roubleshooting T r ou bl eshooting resour ces If you experience computer problems, follo w the troubleshooting steps belo w: 1. Refer to â Quick troubleshooting , â next in this chapter . 2. Access additional information about the computer and W eb site links through Help and Support. Select Start > Help and Support . â Although many checkup and repair tools require an Internet connection, other tools can help you fix a problem when the computer is offline. 3. T roubleshooting Q uic k troub leshootin g T h e comp uter is un ab l e to star t up T o turn on the computer , press the power b utton. When the computer is turned on, the po wer light is turned on. If the computer and the po wer light are not turned on when you press the po wer b utton, adequate po wer may not be a vailable to the computer . The suggestions belo w may help you determine why the computer will not start up: â If the computer is plugged into an A C outlet, verify that the A C outlet is providing adequate po wer by plugging another electrical de vice into the outlet. â If the po wer light on the front of the computer is blinking rapidly , replace the A C adapter with one ha ving a higher po wer rating, and then plug the adapter into an A C outlet. â Use only the included AC adapter or one approved for this computer. â If the computer is running on batte ry po wer or is plugged into an external po wer source other than an A C outlet, plug the computer into an A C outlet using the A C adapter . Be sure the po wer cord and A C adapter connections are secure. â If the computer is running on battery po wer: â Remov e the battery and optional accessory battery (if applicable) and plug the computer into an A C outlet using the A C adapter . If you can turn the computer on, one of the batteries may need to be replaced. â If the battery light on the front of the computer is blinking, the battery has reached a lo w battery le v el, which may not allo w the computer to start up. Plug the computer to an A C outlet using the A C adapter to start the computer and allo w the battery to charge. 3â2 Getting Started
Tr o u b l e s h o o t i n g T h e comp uter s c reen is bl ank If the computer is on b ut the screen is blank, the computer may be in the Sleep state or in Hibernation or may not be set to display the image on the computer screen. T ry the suggestions below to resolv e the issue: â T o exit Sleep or Hibernation, briefly press the po wer button. Sleep and Hibernation are ener gy-sa ving features that can turn of f the display . Sleep and Hibernation can be initiated by the system while the computer is on b ut not in use, or when the computer has reached a lo w battery lev el. T o change these and other po wer settings, select Start > Contr ol Panel > System and Maintenance > P o wer Options . â T o transfer the image to the computer screen, press fn f4 . On most models, when an optional external display de vice, such as a monitor , is connected to the computer , the image can be displayed on the computer screen or the external display , or on both devices simultaneously . When you press fn f4 repeatedly , the image alternates among the computer display , one or more external display de vices, and simultaneous displays on all de vices. Getting Started 3â3
T roubleshooting Soft war e is fun c tioning a bnormally If the software becomes unresponsi ve or responds abnormally , restart the computer by clicking Start , clicking the arro w next to the Lock b utton, and then clicking Restart . If you cannot restart the computer using this procedure, refer to the next section, â The computer is turned on b ut not responding .â â Run a virus scan. T roubleshooting T h e comp ut er is unusua lly w arm It is normal for the computer to feel warm to the touch while it is in use. But if the computer feels unusually warm, it may be ov erheating because a ve nt is blocked. If you suspect that the computer is ov erheating, allo w the computer to cool to room temper ature. Then be sure to ke ep all vents free from obstructions while you are using the computer . Ã CAUT ION: T o pre v ent o ver heating , do not obstr uct v ents . Use the computer o nly on a har d , flat surface . Do not allo w another har d surface , suc h as such as an adj oining pr inte r , or a soft surf ace, such as pillo ws or thick r ugs or clothing , to block airflo w . â The fan in the computer starts up automatically to cool internal components and pre vent o verhea ting. It is normal for the internal fan to c ycle on and of f during routine operation. 3â6 Getting Started
Tr o u b l e s h o o t i n g A n e xtern a l d e vi ce is n ot worki n g If an external de vice does not function as expected: â T urn on the de vice as instructed in the device user guide. Some de vices may not be powered b y the computer , and must be turned on before the computer is turned on. â Be sure that â All de vice connections are secure. â The de vice is recei ving electrical po wer . â The de vice, especially if it is an older one, is compatible with your operating system. For compatibility information, refer to the de vice manufacturerâ s W eb site. â The correct dri v ers are installed and updated. Dri vers may be a v ailable on a CD included with the device or on the de vice manufacturerâ s W eb site. For more information about updating dri vers, select Start > Help and Support . T roubleshooting The ho m e wi rel es s n et w ork co nn e c t io n is not w orking If a home wireless network connection is not w orking as expected: â Be sure that the wireless light on the computer is on. If the light is of f, press the wire less b utton to turn it on. â Be sure that the computer wireless antennae are free from obstructions. â Be sure that the cable or DSL modem and its po wer cord are properly connected, and the lights are on. â Be sure that the wireless router (access point) is properly connected to its po wer adapter and the cable modem, and the lights are on. â Disconnect and then reconnect a ll cables, and turn the po wer of f and then back on. â For information on setting up a home wireless netw ork connection, visit http://www .hp.com/go/techcenter/wireless (English only). 3â8 Getting Started

Before you can access the Internet, you must â Choose an Internet service provider (ISP). â Choose the type of Internet connection you want, such as broadband, wireless, or dial-up, and connect the hardware. â Internet hardware and softwa re features v ary depending on the computer model and your location. C hoose an I SP Y ou must set up Internet service before you can connect to the Internet. Ba c k up m odifica tions ma de to t h e sy stem When you back up modif ications made to the system, you are creating system recov ery points. This allo ws you to sav e a snapshot of your hard dri ve at a specif ic point in time. Y ou can then recov er back to that point if you want to re verse subsequent changes made to your system. â The f irst system reco v ery point, a snapshot of the entire image, is automatically created the f irst time you perform a backup. Subsequent recov ery points make a copy of changes made after that time. HP recommends that you create recov ery points â Before you add or extensi vely modify software or hardw are. â Periodically , whenev er the system is performing optimally . â Recov ering to an earlier reco very point does not af fect data f iles or e-mails created since that recov ery point. After you create a recov ery point, you are prompted to schedule subsequent recov ery points. Y ou can schedule reco very points for a specif ic time or e vent in your system. Câ4 Getting Started

Back up and r eco very Rec ov e r t h e sys t em HP Backup and Recov ery Manager analyzes the hard dri ve and creates a dedicated hard dri v e rec ov ery partition on the hard dri v e large enough to store a cop y of the full factory image. Y ou choose whether you want to store that cop y on the recov ery partition, on another dri ve, or on e xternal recov ery discs. â Before using HP Backup and Recov ery Manager , try repairing the system by running W indo ws System Restore. For more information, select Start > Help and Support, and then search for âSystem Restore. â The HP Backup and Recov ery Manager allo ws you to â Cr eate r e cov ery discs (highly recommended). The recov ery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and to restore the full factory image (operating system and softw are) in case of system failure or instability . If you do not have a CD or DVD burner, a copy of the â entire hard drive image can be stored on another hard drive or on a network drive. â P erf orm a recov ery . Y ou can perform a full system reco v ery or recov er important f iles from a recov ery partition on the hard dri ve, from another dri ve, or from recov ery discs that you create. Câ6 Getting Started
Back up and reco very Create reco v er y disc s (hig hly r ecommen ded) After setting up the computer for the f irst time, you can create a set of recov ery discs of the full factory image, using Reco very Media Creator in the HP Backup and Recov ery Manager . The recov ery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and recov er the operating system and software to f actory settings in case of system failure or instability . à CAUT ION: After y ou c reate the r ecov ery discs, y ou can inc rea se the amount of s pace on the har d dri v e by de leting the r ecov ery partition . Ho w ev er , doing this is not r ecommend ed . If y ou delete this partition, y ou w ill lose an y infor mation that is on the partitio n. â Only one set of recov ery discs can be created for this computer . Before creating recov ery discs: â Obtain high quality CD-R, D VD-R, or D VD R media. Formatted DVD±RW and DVD±RW double-layer discs â are not compatible with HP Backup and Recovery Manager. â Number each disc before inserting it into the optical dri ve of the computer . â If necessary , you can cancel Recovery Media Creator before you ha ve f inished creating the recov ery discs. F irs t -time setup Step 4 : Set up the so ft w ar e After the computer is turned on, it will go through a brief software setup. F ollo w the on-screen instructions to set up the software. Note the follo wing: â After you respond to the setup prompt, you must complete the entire setup process without interruption. Setup time va r i e s . â During software setup, the computer may pause periodically for se veral minutes. These normal pauses are indicated b y an hourglass icon. Ã CAUT ION: If yo u ar e prom pted to selec t an oper ating s ys tem language , choo se car efull y . On some models, the languages that y ou do not choo se ar e deleted f rom the s yst em and cannot be r estor ed during soft ware setup . â T o re gister the operating system and the computer , you must be connected to the Internet. 1â1 0 Getting Started F irs t - time setu p Step 5: Create reco v er y disc s (recommend ed) After setting up the computer for the f irst time, you can create a set of recov ery discs of your full factory image using HP Backup and Recov ery Manager . The reco very discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and restore the operating system and software programs to f actory settings in case of system failure or instability . Refer to Appendix C, â Backup and recov ery , â for detailed instructions.

Select Start > Computer > System properties . 2. In the left pane, click Device Manager . â Windows includes the User Account Control feature to improve the security of your computer. You may be prompted for your permission or password for tasks such as installing applications, ru nning utilities, or changing Windows settings. Refer to Wi ndows online Help for more information. Y ou can also add hardware or modify your de vice configurations using De vice Manager . T o install additional hardware, such as an optional printer , follo w the instructions provided b y the hardware manuf acturer to install the de vice and any required dri vers.

Ne xt steps Protect t h e comp u ter The information in this section is designed to protect the computer from damage caused by a virus, a security breach, a po wer surge, or unsafe operation. Protect t he com pu ter from v iruses When you use the computer for e-mail, network, or Internet access, you expose it to computer viruses that can disable the operating system, programs, or utilities or cause them to function abnormally . Anti virus software can detect most viruses, destroy them, and in most cases, repair any damage the y ha ve caused. T o provide ongoing protection against ne wly disco vered viruses, anti virus software must be k ept up to date. Norton Internet Security is preinstalled on the computer . For information about using the Norton Internet Security software, select Start > All Pr ograms > Norton Intern et Security . T o optimize the pri v acy protectio n features included with the computer: â K eep the operating system and software updated. Man y software programs contain security enhancements. â Use a f irew all. A fi rew all is software that monitors incoming traf fic on the computer . Some fire walls also monitor outgoing traf fi c. Protect t he com p uter from po wer sur ges T o protect the computer from the po wer surges that may be caused by an uncertain po wer supply or an electrical storm: â Plug the computer po wer cord into an optional, high-quality surge protector . Surge protectors are a v ailable from most computer or electronics retailers. â During an electrical storm, eith er run the computer on battery po wer or shut do wn the computer and unplug the po wer cord. â If applicable to your location, provide sur ge protection on the modem cable that connects the modem to a telephone line. T elephone line surge protectors are a v ailable from most computer or electronic retailers in some regions.

T roubleshooting Q uic k troub leshootin g T h e comp uter is un ab l e to star t up T o turn on the computer , press the power b utton. When the computer is turned on, the po wer light is turned on. If the computer and the po wer light are not turned on when you press the po wer b utton, adequate po wer may not be a vailable to the computer . The suggestions belo w may help you determine why the computer will not start up: â If the computer is plugged into an A C outlet, verify that the A C outlet is providing adequate po wer by plugging another electrical de vice into the outlet. â If the po wer light on the front of the computer is blinking rapidly , replace the A C adapter with one ha ving a higher po wer rating, and then plug the adapter into an A C outlet. â Use only the included AC adapter or one approved for this computer. â If the computer is running on batte ry po wer or is plugged into an external po wer source other than an A C outlet, plug the computer into an A C outlet using the A C adapter . Be sure the po wer cord and A C adapter connections are secure. â If the computer is running on battery po wer: â Remov e the battery and optional accessory battery (if applicable) and plug the computer into an A C outlet using the A C adapter . If you can turn the computer on, one of the batteries may need to be replaced. â If the battery light on the front of the computer is blinking, the battery has reached a lo w battery le v el, which may not allo w the computer to start up. Tr o u b l e s h o o t i n g T h e comp uter s c reen is bl ank If the computer is on b ut the screen is blank, the computer may be in the Sleep state or in Hibernation or may not be set to display the image on the computer screen. T ry the suggestions below to resolv e the issue: â T o exit Sleep or Hibernation, briefly press the po wer button. Sleep and Hibernation are ener gy-sa ving features that can turn of f the display . Sleep and Hibernation can be initiated by the system while the computer is on b ut not in use, or when the computer has reached a lo w battery lev el. T o change these and other po wer settings, select Start > Contr ol Panel > System and Maintenance > P o wer Options . â T o transfer the image to the computer screen, press fn f4 . On most models, when an optional external display de vice, such as a monitor , is connected to the computer , the image can be displayed on the computer screen or the external display , or on both devices simultaneously . When you press fn f4 repeatedly , the image alternates among the computer display , one or more external display de vices, and simultaneous displays on all de vices. Getting Started 3â3

But if the computer feels unusually warm, it may be ov erheating because a ve nt is blocked. If you suspect that the computer is ov erheating, allo w the computer to cool to room temper ature. Then be sure to ke ep all vents free from obstructions while you are using the computer . Ã CAUT ION: T o pre v ent o ver heating , do not obstr uct v ents . Use the computer o nly on a har d , flat surface . Do not allo w another har d surface , suc h as such as an adj oining pr inte r , or a soft surf ace, such as pillo ws or thick r ugs or clothing , to block airflo w . â The fan in the computer starts up automatically to cool internal components and pre vent o verhea ting. C B ac k up an d reco v er y HP Backup and Recov ery Manager provides se veral ways to back up the system and to recov er optimal system functionality . â HP installed dri vers, utilities, and programs can be copied to a CD or to a D VD using the HP Backup and Recove ry Manager . â Formatted D VD±R W and D VD±R W double-layer discs are not compatible with HP Backup and Recov ery Manager . â The computer must be connected to external po wer before you perform backup and recov ery procedures. B ac k u p t he en tire hard driv e When you perform a complete backup of the hard dri ve, you are sa ving the full factory image, including the W indows operating system, software applications, and all personal f iles and folders. â A copy of the entire hard dri v e image can be stored on another hard dri ve, on a netw ork dri ve, or on reco very discs that you create. â This process may take o ver an hour , depending on your computer speed and the amount of data being stored. T o back up the entire hard dri ve: 1. Select Start > All Programs > HP Backup & Recov ery > HP Backup and Recov ery Manager . The HP Backup and Recov ery Manager opens. 2. Click Next. 3. Click Backup to pr otect system and important data f iles , and then click Next . 4. Click Back up entir e hard driv e , and then click Next . The âBack up entire hard diskâ page opens. 5. Select the Pr otect data access with password check box, and then type your password in the Pa ss wor d and Conf irm boxes. â This step is optional. If you do not want to password-protect your data access, clear the Protect data access with password check box. 8. Click Next. 9. Follo w the on-screen instructions. Ba c k up m odifica tions ma de to t h e sy stem When you back up modif ications made to the system, you are creating system recov ery points. This allo ws you to sav e a snapshot of your hard dri ve at a specif ic point in time. Y ou can then recov er back to that point if you want to re verse subsequent changes made to your system. â The f irst system reco v ery point, a snapshot of the entire image, is automatically created the f irst time you perform a backup. Subsequent recov ery points make a copy of changes made after that time. HP recommends that you create recov ery points â Before you add or extensi vely modify software or hardw are. â Periodically , whenev er the system is performing optimally . â Recov ering to an earlier reco very point does not af fect data f iles or e-mails created since that recov ery point. After you create a recov ery point, you are prompted to schedule subsequent recov ery points. Y ou can schedule reco very points for a specif ic time or e vent in your system. Câ4 Getting Started

Back up and r eco very Rec ov e r t h e sys t em HP Backup and Recov ery Manager analyzes the hard dri ve and creates a dedicated hard dri v e rec ov ery partition on the hard dri v e large enough to store a cop y of the full factory image. Y ou choose whether you want to store that cop y on the recov ery partition, on another dri ve, or on e xternal recov ery discs. â Before using HP Backup and Recov ery Manager , try repairing the system by running W indo ws System Restore. For more information, select Start > Help and Support, and then search for âSystem Restore. â The HP Backup and Recov ery Manager allo ws you to â Cr eate r e cov ery discs (highly recommended). The recov ery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and to restore the full factory image (operating system and softw are) in case of system failure or instability . If you do not have a CD or DVD burner, a copy of the â entire hard drive image can be stored on another hard drive or on a network drive. â P erf orm a recov ery . Y ou can perform a full system reco v ery or recov er important f iles from a recov ery partition on the hard dri ve, from another dri ve, or from recov ery discs that you create. Câ6 Getting Started
Back up and reco very Create reco v er y disc s (hig hly r ecommen ded) After setting up the computer for the f irst time, you can create a set of recov ery discs of the full factory image, using Reco very Media Creator in the HP Backup and Recov ery Manager . The recov ery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and recov er the operating system and software to f actory settings in case of system failure or instability . à CAUT ION: After y ou c reate the r ecov ery discs, y ou can inc rea se the amount of s pace on the har d dri v e by de leting the r ecov ery partition . Ho w ev er , doing this is not r ecommend ed . If y ou delete this partition, y ou w ill lose an y infor mation that is on the partitio n. â Only one set of recov ery discs can be created for this computer . Before creating recov ery discs: â Obtain high quality CD-R, D VD-R, or D VD R media. Formatted DVD±RW and DVD±RW double-layer discs â are not compatible with HP Backup and Recovery Manager. â Number each disc before inserting it into the optical dri ve of the computer . â If necessary , you can cancel Recovery Media Creator before you ha ve f inished creating the recov ery discs.
