aî connect t he audio step 1: get ready dî pow er up Turn on all components in y our setup: â î your digital entertainment center â î your television â î your receiv er (with audio input tuned to the appropriate setting) â î any daisy-chained components (such as a VCR) Y ou'll see welcome to the hp digital entertainment center on your TV screen. bî connect t he video alternatives â î If you use an audio/v ideo recei ver , you can connect the video cable to the de100c's vi deo OUT jack and to a video IN jack on y our recei ver . Audio and video connections from the de100c m ust enter the recei ver within the same dev ice group (for e xample, thr ough an AUX grou p). â î If your TV does not have a compo site video IN jack available for use bu t another device in y our system (such as a VCR) does, y ou can connect the de100c to that device's v ideo IN jack. With this dais y-chained method, the devi ce the connection passes thr ough must be power ed on when you use the de100c . â î The de100c also has S-video and VG A connections. To use one o f these outputs, purc hase the appropriate cable separately . broadband: Ethernet If your rou ter or home network r equires an Etherne t connection: Connect one end of your Ethernet cable to the de100c's Ethernet port. Connect the other end to î your router (or to a network ed î RJ45 jack in your home). broadband: Home PNA If you hav e a home phoneline network (y our home is network ed to your rout er via telephone w ire within the walls): Connect one end of the phone cord (prov ided) to one of the de100c's phone jacks. Connect the other end of the phon e cord to a networked phone jack in your home. dial-up Connect one end of the phone cord to one of the de100c's phone jacks. Connect the other end to a î phone jack in your home. sharing a phone jack To share a household phone j ack between your digital entertainment cente r and a telephone, either : â î plug the phone splitter into y our household phone jack , then connect the de100c and the phone to the splitter , or â î plug your telepho ne´s cord into the de100c´s second phone jack. dial-up 56k modem is built in. Some connection methods are î not supported: Dial-up support ex cludes Interne t Service Prov iders that r ely on pr oprietary softwar e, such as A OL ® and CompuServe ® , and free ISPs that r equire a W eb br ow ser to display banner ads. Connect the other end to your TV's composite video IN jack. Connect the power cord to the de100c î and plug it into î a grounded wall outlet. Put the batteries into the remote control. Save your bo x and packing materials . They pro vide the safest w ay to transport the digital ent ertainment center . Place your digital entertainment center where you can easily connect it to: â î your television â î your stereo or audio/video recei ver â î an Internet connection (wall jack or router connection) â î a power outlet Caution: î Do not block the airflow v ents on top of î the device . The digital entertainment center's inf rared rece iver requires an unob structed signal fro m the remote.
