Use r Guide 1â1 1 Pr oduc t F eatures The Flat Panel Display has an acti ve matrix, thin-f ilm transistor (TFT), liquid crystal display (LCD). The monitor features include: â HP L1755 model, 17-inch (43.2 cm) vie wable area display , with narro w bezels. â HP L1955 model, 19-inch (48.3 cm) vie wable area display , with narro w bezels. â 1280 Ã 1024 nati ve resolution, plus full-screen support for lo wer resolutions. â W ide viewing angle to allo w viewing from a sitting or standing position, or moving side-to-side. â T ilt, swiv el, and height adjustment capabilities. â Easily remov able base for flexible mounting solutions. â Multiple video inputs supported: â VGA Analog â D VI-I supports either Analog or Digital signal input (a v ailable on select models) â VGA analog, D V I-Digital, and VGA to D VI-I signal cables included. â USB 2.0 hub with one upstream (connects to the computer) and four do wnstream (connects to USB de vices) ports.

If another cord is used, use only a po wer source and connection appropriate for this monitor . F or information on the correct po wer cord set to use with your monitor , refer to the âPower Cord Set Requirementsâ section in Appendix C. Use a po we r str ip wh ose man ufactur er offer s a Damage R eplacement P oli cy so y ou can r eplace y our equipment if sur ge protec tion f ails. Main tenan ce G ui delin es T o enhance the performance and extend the life of your monitor: â Do not open your monitor cabinet or attempt to service this product yourself. Adjust only those controls that are cov ered in the operating instructions. If your monitor is not operating properly or has been dropped or damaged, contact your HP authorized dealer , reseller , or service pro vider . â Use only a po wer source and connection appropriate for this monitor , as indicated on the label/back plate of the monitor . â Be sure the total ampere rating of the products connected to the outlet does not exceed the current rating of the electrical outlet, and the total ampere rating of the products connected to the cord does not exceed the rating of the cord. Look on the po wer label to determine the ampere rating (AMPS or A) for each de vice. â Install your monitor near an outlet that you can easily reach. Disconnect the monitor by grasping the plug f irmly and pulling it from the outlet. Ne ver disconnect the monitor b y pulling the cord. â T urn your monitor of f when not in use. Y ou can substantially increase the life expectanc y of your monitor by using a screen sa ver program and turning of f the monitor when not in use.
Saf ety and Maintenance Guidelines Use r Guide 2â3 â Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for v entilation. These openings must not be blocked or co vered. Ne ver push objects of any kind into cabinet slots or other openings. â Do not drop your monitor or place it on an unstable surface. â Do not allo w anything to rest on the po wer cord. Do not walk on the cord. â K eep your monitor in a well-ventilated area, a way from excessi ve light, heat or moisture. â When removing the monitor base, you must lay the monitor face do wn on a soft area to prev ent it from getting scratched, defaced, or brok en. C l eaning t h e Monitor 1. T urn of f the monitor and the computer . 2. Unplug the monitor from the wall outlet. 3. Clean the monitor plastics with a clean cloth dampened with wate r . 4. Clean the monitor screen with an antistatic screen cleaner . Ã CA UTION: Do not use benz ene , thinne r , ammonia , or an y other vo latile substance s to clean y our monitor or the sc reen . These chemi cals may damage the ca binet f inish as w ell as the sc r een . Shipp ing t he Monitor K eep the original packing box in a storage area. Y ou may need it later if you mov e or ship your monitor .
Use r Guide 3â1 3 Set tin g U p t h e Monitor T o set up the monitor , ensure that the po wer is turned of f to the monitor , computer system, and other attached devices, then follo w the steps belo w . Installin g t h e Monitor B as e â Do not install the base if the monitor will be used on a wall, swing arm, or other mounting f ixture; instead refer to the section on âMounting the Monitorâ in this chapter . 1. Place the display on a soft cloth on your desktop or table.

3â4 User Gui de Setting Up the Monitor Selec tin g t he Si gn al Conn ec tors and C ab l es There are two signal input connectors: â VGA connector â D VI-I connector (av ailable on select models) The monitor will automatically determine which inputs ha ve v alid video signals. The inputs can be selected through the On-Screen Display (OSD) feature or by pressing the â b utton (to enable D VI signal input) or the b utton (to enable VGA signal input) on the monitor front bezel. The video mode supported by the D VI-I connector is determined by the video cable used. F or digital operation, use the D VI-D signal cable provided. F or analog operation, use the VGA signal cable or VGA to D V I-I signal cable provided. Conn ec tin g t he Monitor 1. Place the monitor in a con venient, well-v entilated location near your computer .

For analog operation, connect one end of the V GA signal cable or the VGA to D V I signal cable to the VGA connector on the monitor and the other end to the VGA connector on the computer . Setting Up the Monitor Use r Guide 3â13 â Y ou can change your monitorâ s vi e wing position to portrait. T o rotate your display to the portrait position, you will need to install the Pi v ot software, which is contained on the CD included with your monitor . P iv oting the Monitor à CA UTION: Burn-in image damage may occ ur on monitors that displa y the same stati c image on sc r een fo r a pr olonged per iod of time . 3â14 Use r Guide Setting Up the Monitor Rem o vin g t h e M o ni to r B a s e The monitor base can be remov ed to mount the monitor on a wall, a swing arm or other mounting f ixture. Read the caution and warning statements belo w before beginning the procedure. à CA UTION: Bef or e beginning to disas semble the monitor , be sure the monitor is tur ned off and the po w er and signal ca bles ar e both disconnected . R emo v ing the Monitor Ba se Mountin g t h e Monitor The monitor features a quick release latch for easy installation of the display panel to a wall mounting de vice. 1. Remov e the monitor base. Refer to âRemo ving the Monitor Baseâ steps in the pre vious section. 2. Remov e the scre ws and the quick release adapter plate from the monitor base.
3â16 Use r Guide Setting Up the Monitor 3. Install the adapter plate onto the swing arm or other mounting f ixture using the scre ws remov ed from the monitor base. Using the Quic k R elease A dapte r P late to Mount the Dis pla y to a Swi n g A r m â For standing mounting purposes, when the base is remo v ed, four threaded mounting holes are exposed on the display panel. These mounting holes are spaced 100 mm apart and are compliant with the V ideo Electronics Standards Association (VESA) standard for mounting flat panel displays. 4. Pull do wn the quick release latch on the back of the display panel and mount it to the adapter plate on the swing arm or other mounting f ixture until it latches into place.

Use r Guide 4â1 4 O peratin g t h e Monitor Soft w are and Utiliti es The monitor includes a CD that contains two f iles you can install on your computer: â an .INF (Information) f ile â an .ICM (Image Color Matching) f ile Adobe Acrobat Reader is supp lied on this CD and can be installed from the menu. â If the monitor does not include a CD, the .INF and .ICM f iles can be do wnloaded from the HP m onitors support W eb site. See âDo wnloading from the W orldwide W ebâ in this chapter . Th e I nfo r m a t i on Fi l e The .INF f ile enables the computer to communicate with the monitor and use all the monitor features. The .INF f ile defines monitor resources used by Microsoft W indo ws operating systems to ensure monitor compatibility with the computerâ s graphics adapter . This monitor is W indows Plug and Play compatible and the monitor will work correctly without installing the .INF f ile. Monitor Plug and Play compatibility requires that the computerâ s graphic card is VESA DDC2 compliant and that the monitor connects directly to the graphi cs card. Plug and Play does not
4â2 User Gui de Oper ating the Monitor work through separate BNC type connectors or through distrib ution buf fers/boxes. Y ou may need to install the .INF f ile if these conditions are not met. Th e I m a g e C o l o r M a t c h i n g Fi l e The .ICM f ile provides accurate color representation. The .ICM f iles are data files that are used in conjunction with graphics programs to provide consistent color matching from monitor screen to printer , or from scanner to monitor screen. The .ICM f ile contains a monitor color system profile. This f ile is activ ated from within graphics programs that support this feature. â The ICM color prof ile is written in accordance with the International Color Consortium (ICC) Prof ile Format specif ication. Installin g t h e .I NF an d .ICM Files After you determine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM f iles from the CD or do wnload them. Installin g from t he CD T o install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the computer CD-R OM driv e. The CD menu displays. 2. V iew the âINF and ICM Readmeâ f ile. 3. Select âInstall INF and ICM Files. â 4. Follo w the on-screen instructions. 5. After the INF software has been installed, restart W indo ws.

Ensure that the proper resolution and refresh rates appear in the W indows Display control panel. â Y ou may need to install the digitally signed monitor .INF and .ICM f iles manually from the CD in the e vent of an installation error . Oper ating the Monitor Use r Guide 4â5 Adjustin g Monitor Set tin g s Use the On-Screen Display (OSD) to adjust the screen image based on your vie wing preferences. T o access the OSD, do the follo wing: 1. If the monitor is not already on, press the Po wer switch to turn on the monitor . 2. Press the Menu b utton on the monitorâ s front panel to launch the OSD Main Menu. 3. T o navigate through the OSD Menu, press the (Plus) b utton on the monitorâ s front panel to scroll up, or the â (Minus) b utton to scroll in re verse.
4â6 User Gui de Oper ating the Monitor 4. T o select an item from the OSD Menu, use the or â buttons to scroll to and highlight your selection, then press the Menu b utton to select that function. 5. Adjust the item using the or â b uttons on the front panel to adjust the scale. 6. After adjusting the function, select Sa ve and Return, or Cancel if you donâ t want to sa ve the setting, then select Exit from the Main Menu. â If the b uttons remain untouched for 10 seconds while displaying a menu, ne w adjustments will be di scarded and the settings will re vert to the pre vious settings and exit the menu. Using t h e S ync -on -G reen F orm at If you require use of the sync-on-green video format, you must enable this format through the Main On-Screen Display Menu. 1. Press the Menu b utton on the front panel of the monitor to acti v ate the Main (Adv anced) OSD Menu. 2. Select Management. 3. Select Sync-on-Green. Then select On. 4. Select Sa ve and Return. Then Exit the OSD Menu.
Oper ating the Monitor Use r Guide 4â7 Using t h e On - Sc reen Disp l ay There are two On-Screen Display menus a v ailable; one for basic adjustments, and one for adv anced adjustments. T o access the Basic OSD Menu, press the menu button on the monitor's front panel. T o access the Advanced OSD Menu, press the menu b utton again, or select Adv anced Menu from the Basic OSD Menu. â After selecting the Adv anced Menu from the Basic Menu, the Adv anced Menu remains the default OSD on subsequent po wer -ups of the monitor until the Basic Menu is selected or Factory Reset is applied. The Adv anced OSD Menu has up to three suble vels and can be vie wed in one of se ven a vailable languages. 4â10 Use r Guide Oper ating the Monitor Adjus ting S c reen Qu alit y Allo w the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before performing the follo wing procedures. The Auto-adjustment feature automatically f ine-tunes the image quality each time a ne w video mode is utilized. If additional improv ement is desired, press the Auto adjust b utton on the front bezel. For more precise adjustments, use the adjustment pattern provided on the CD-R OM, and adjust the clock and phase settings (accessed from the OSD menu) as described in the follo wing section. Optimizin g A nal og Video This monitor contains adv anced circuitry that allo ws the flat panel screen to function like a standard monitor . T wo controls in the on-screen display can be adjusted to improv e image performance: Clock and Clock Ph ase. Use these controls only when the auto-adjust function does not provide a satisf actory image. â The Clock must f irst be set correctly since the Clock Phase settings are dependent on the main Clock setting. â ClockâIncrease/decrease the v alue to minimize an y vertical bars or stripes visible on the screen background. â Clock PhaseâIncrease/decrease the v alue to minimize video distortion or video jitter . â When using the controls, you will obtain the best results by using the adjustment pattern application provided on the CD-R OM.
Oper ating the Monitor Use r Guide 4â11 â When adjusting the Clock and Clock Phase v alues, if the monitor images become distorted, continue adjusting the v alues until the distortion disappears. T o restore the factory settings, select Y es from the Factory Reset menu in the on-screen display . Id entif ying Monitor Con ditions Special messages will appear on the monitor screen when identifying the follo wing monitor conditions: â Input Signal Out of Rangeâ Indicates the monitor does not support the input signal because the resolution and/or refresh rate are set higher than the monitor supports. Set the resolution and refresh rate for 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz. Restart your computer for the ne w settings to take ef fect. â Monitor Going to Sleepâ Indicates the screen display is entering a sleep mode. â Check V ideo Cableâ Indicates the video cable is not properly connected to the computer . â OSD LockâThe OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu b utton on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the w arning message âOSD Lockâ displays for ten seconds. â If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu b utton for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD. â If the OSD is unlocked, press and hold the Menu b utton for 10 seconds to lock the OSD.
4â12 Use r Guide Oper ating the Monitor Sleep Tim er Mode The Sleep T imer mode is an energy-sa ving feature that enables you to set a time for the monitor to po wer on and of f at the same time e very day . This also extends the life of the backlight b ulbs in the monitor . The Sleep T imer has fi ve settings: â Set Current T ime â Set Sleep T ime â Set On T ime â T imer: On/Off â Sleep No w T o set the timer: 1. Press the Menu b utton on the monitor front panel to display the Adv anced Menu. 2. Scroll do wn and highlight Management. 3. Press the Menu b utton to select Management. 4. Scroll do wn and highlight and select Sleep T imer > Set Current T ime. â Y ou must set the current local time before you reset the time for Sleep T ime or On T ime. Note that the time is displayed in a 24 hour clock format. For e xample, 1:15 p.m. displays as 13 hours 15 minutes. 5. Press the Menu b utton once to enter the adjustment mode for hours. 6. Press the - (Minus) or (Plu s) b uttons to adjust the hour . 7. Press the Menu b utton again to enter the time for minutes. 8. Press the - (Minus) or (Plus) b uttons to adjust the minutes.

Repeat steps 6 through 9 to set Sleep T ime. 11. If you do not want to set Sleep T ime, press the Menu b utton twice, then select Sa ve and Return to e xit the menu. 12. After setting Sleep T ime, the highlight automatically skips to Set On T ime hours. Repeat step s 6 through 9 to set On T ime. 13. Set the T imer mode to On to activ ate the Sleep T imer settings. 14. When you are f inished, select Sav e and Return to exit the menu. The f ifth selection, Sleep No w , turns the monitor backlights off immediately and stays in sleep mode until the next On T ime acti v ates or a monitor b utton is pressed. sRGB Su p por t The monitor is designed to support sRGB for color management, which adapts to the color standards used in the image technology industry . T o take adv antage of the sRGB support, you will need to change your monitorâ s color temperature to sRGB and install the sRGB color prof ile (ICM) file. â The sRGB color temperature preset will improv e the color accuracy of sRGB images on the computer monitor , b ut some color v ariation may still occur .

Bâ6 User Gui de T echni cal Spec ific ations Energy Sav er Feature When the monitor is in its normal operating mode, the monitor uses less than 40 watts of po wer and the Power light is green. The monitor also supports a reduced po wer state. The reduced po wer state will be entered into if the monitor detects the absence of either the horizontal sync signal and/or the vertical sync signal. Upon detecting the absence of thes e signals, the monitor screen is blanked, the backlight is turned of f, and the Power light is turned amber . When the monitor is in the reduced po wer state, the monitor will utilize less than 2 watts of po wer . There is a brief warm up period before the monitor will return to its normal operating mode. Refer to your computer manual for instructions on setting energ y sa ver features (sometimes calle d po wer management features). â The abov e ener gy sa ver feature only works when connected to computers that ha ve ener gy sa ver features. By selecting settings in the monitorâ s Ener gy Sa v er utility , you can also program the monitor to enter into the reduced po wer state at a predetermined time. When the monitorâ s Ener gy Sav er utility causes the monitor to enter the reduced po wer state, the Po wer light blinks amber .

This feature allo ws the monitor to operate on input v oltages between 100-120V or 200-240V . The po wer cord set (flexible cord or w all plug) recei v ed with the monitor meets the requirements for use in the country where you purchased the equipment. If you need to obtain a po wer cord for a dif ferent country , you should purchase a po wer cord that is appro ved for use in that country . The po wer cord must be rated for the product and for the v oltage and current marked on the product's electrical ratings label. The v oltage and current rating of the cord should be greater than the v oltage and current rating marked on the product. In addition, the cross-sectional area of the wire must be a minimum of 0.75 mm² or 18A WG, and the length of the cord must be between 6 feet (1.8 m) and 12 feet (3.6 m). Use r Guide Dâ1 D L CD Monitor Q u alit y and P ix el P olicy The TFT monitor uses high-precision technology , manufactured according to HP standards, to guarantee trouble-free performance. Ne vertheless, the display may ha ve cosmetic imperfections that appear as small bright or dark spots. This is common to all LCD displays us ed in products supplied b y all vendors and is not specif ic to the HP LCD. These imperfections are caused by one or more defecti ve pix els or sub-pixels. â A pixel consists of one red, one green, and one blue sub-pixel. â A defecti ve whole pix el is alw ays turned on (a bright spot on a dark background), or it is alw ays of f (a dark spot on a bright background). The f irst is the more visible of the two. â A defecti ve sub-pix el (dot defect) is less visible than a defecti ve whole pix e l and is small and only visible on a specif ic background. The HP display does not ha ve more than: â 3 bright dots. â 5 dark dots. â 5 total bright and dark dots. â No more than two adjacent (less than 25 mm edge-to-edge) defecti ve pix els.

Adjust only those controls that are cov ered in the operating instructions. If your monitor is not operating properly or has been dropped or damaged, contact your HP authorized dealer , reseller , or service pro vider . â Use only a po wer source and connection appropriate for this monitor , as indicated on the label/back plate of the monitor . â Be sure the total ampere rating of the products connected to the outlet does not exceed the current rating of the electrical outlet, and the total ampere rating of the products connected to the cord does not exceed the rating of the cord. Look on the po wer label to determine the ampere rating (AMPS or A) for each de vice. â Install your monitor near an outlet that you can easily reach. Saf ety and Maintenance Guidelines Use r Guide 2â3 â Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for v entilation. These openings must not be blocked or co vered. Ne ver push objects of any kind into cabinet slots or other openings. â Do not drop your monitor or place it on an unstable surface. â Do not allo w anything to rest on the po wer cord. The inputs can be selected through the On-Screen Display (OSD) feature or by pressing the â b utton (to enable D VI signal input) or the b utton (to enable VGA signal input) on the monitor front bezel. The video mode supported by the D VI-I connector is determined by the video cable used. F or digital operation, use the D VI-D signal cable provided. These mounting holes are spaced 100 mm apart and are compliant with the V ideo Electronics Standards Association (VESA) standard for mounting flat panel displays. 4. Use r Guide 4â1 4 O peratin g t h e Monitor Soft w are and Utiliti es The monitor includes a CD that contains two f iles you can install on your computer: â an .INF (Information) f ile â an .ICM (Image Color Matching) f ile Adobe Acrobat Reader is supp lied on this CD and can be installed from the menu. â If the monitor does not include a CD, the .INF and .ICM f iles can be do wnloaded from the HP m onitors support W eb site. See âDo wnloading from the W orldwide W ebâ in this chapter . Th e I nfo r m a t i on Fi l e The .INF f ile enables the computer to communicate with the monitor and use all the monitor features. The .INF f ile defines monitor resources used by Microsoft W indo ws operating systems to ensure monitor compatibility with the computerâ s graphics adapter . This monitor is W indows Plug and Play compatible and the monitor will work correctly without installing the .INF f ile. Monitor Plug and Play compatibility requires that the computerâ s graphic card is VESA DDC2 compliant and that the monitor connects directly to the graphi cs card. Plug and Play does not

Th e I m a g e C o l o r M a t c h i n g Fi l e The .ICM f ile provides accurate color representation. The .ICM f iles are data files that are used in conjunction with graphics programs to provide consistent color matching from monitor screen to printer , or from scanner to monitor screen. The .ICM f ile contains a monitor color system profile. This f ile is activ ated from within graphics programs that support this feature. â The ICM color prof ile is written in accordance with the International Color Consortium (ICC) Prof ile Format specif ication. Installin g t h e .I NF an d .ICM Files After you determine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM f iles from the CD or do wnload them. Installin g from t he CD T o install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the computer CD-R OM driv e. The CD menu displays. 2. V iew the âINF and ICM Readmeâ f ile. 3. Select âInstall INF and ICM Files. â 4. Follo w the on-screen instructions. 5. After the INF software has been installed, restart W indo ws.

T o access the OSD, do the follo wing: 1. If the monitor is not already on, press the Po wer switch to turn on the monitor . 2. Press the Menu b utton on the monitorâ s front panel to launch the OSD Main Menu. 3. T o navigate through the OSD Menu, press the (Plus) b utton on the monitorâ s front panel to scroll up, or the â (Minus) b utton to scroll in re verse.
4â6 User Gui de Oper ating the Monitor 4. T o select an item from the OSD Menu, use the or â buttons to scroll to and highlight your selection, then press the Menu b utton to select that function. 5. Adjust the item using the or â b uttons on the front panel to adjust the scale. 6. After adjusting the function, select Sa ve and Return, or Cancel if you donâ t want to sa ve the setting, then select Exit from the Main Menu. â If the b uttons remain untouched for 10 seconds while displaying a menu, ne w adjustments will be di scarded and the settings will re vert to the pre vious settings and exit the menu. T o access the Basic OSD Menu, press the menu button on the monitor's front panel. T o access the Advanced OSD Menu, press the menu b utton again, or select Adv anced Menu from the Basic OSD Menu. â After selecting the Adv anced Menu from the Basic Menu, the Adv anced Menu remains the default OSD on subsequent po wer -ups of the monitor until the Basic Menu is selected or Factory Reset is applied. The Adv anced OSD Menu has up to three suble vels and can be vie wed in one of se ven a vailable languages. 4â10 Use r Guide Oper ating the Monitor Adjus ting S c reen Qu alit y Allo w the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before performing the follo wing procedures. The Auto-adjustment feature automatically f ine-tunes the image quality each time a ne w video mode is utilized. If additional improv ement is desired, press the Auto adjust b utton on the front bezel. For more precise adjustments, use the adjustment pattern provided on the CD-R OM, and adjust the clock and phase settings (accessed from the OSD menu) as described in the follo wing section. Optimizin g A nal og Video This monitor contains adv anced circuitry that allo ws the flat panel screen to function like a standard monitor . T wo controls in the on-screen display can be adjusted to improv e image performance: Clock and Clock Ph ase. Use these controls only when the auto-adjust function does not provide a satisf actory image. â The Clock must f irst be set correctly since the Clock Phase settings are dependent on the main Clock setting. â ClockâIncrease/decrease the v alue to minimize an y vertical bars or stripes visible on the screen background. â Clock PhaseâIncrease/decrease the v alue to minimize video distortion or video jitter . â When using the controls, you will obtain the best results by using the adjustment pattern application provided on the CD-R OM.

T o restore the factory settings, select Y es from the Factory Reset menu in the on-screen display . Id entif ying Monitor Con ditions Special messages will appear on the monitor screen when identifying the follo wing monitor conditions: â Input Signal Out of Rangeâ Indicates the monitor does not support the input signal because the resolution and/or refresh rate are set higher than the monitor supports. Set the resolution and refresh rate for 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz. Restart your computer for the ne w settings to take ef fect. â Monitor Going to Sleepâ Indicates the screen display is entering a sleep mode. â Check V ideo Cableâ Indicates the video cable is not properly connected to the computer . â OSD LockâThe OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu b utton on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the w arning message âOSD Lockâ displays for ten seconds. â If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu b utton for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD. â If the OSD is unlocked, press and hold the Menu b utton for 10 seconds to lock the OSD.
4â12 Use r Guide Oper ating the Monitor Sleep Tim er Mode The Sleep T imer mode is an energy-sa ving feature that enables you to set a time for the monitor to po wer on and of f at the same time e very day . This also extends the life of the backlight b ulbs in the monitor . The Sleep T imer has fi ve settings: â Set Current T ime â Set Sleep T ime â Set On T ime â T imer: On/Off â Sleep No w T o set the timer: 1. Press the Menu b utton on the monitor front panel to display the Adv anced Menu. 2. Scroll do wn and highlight Management. 3. Press the Menu b utton to select Management. 4. Scroll do wn and highlight and select Sleep T imer > Set Current T ime. â Y ou must set the current local time before you reset the time for Sleep T ime or On T ime. Note that the time is displayed in a 24 hour clock format. For e xample, 1:15 p.m. displays as 13 hours 15 minutes. 5. Press the Menu b utton once to enter the adjustment mode for hours. 6. Press the - (Minus) or (Plu s) b uttons to adjust the hour . 7. Press the Menu b utton again to enter the time for minutes. 8. Press the - (Minus) or (Plus) b uttons to adjust the minutes.

Repeat steps 6 through 9 to set Sleep T ime. 11. If you do not want to set Sleep T ime, press the Menu b utton twice, then select Sa ve and Return to e xit the menu. 12. After setting Sleep T ime, the highlight automatically skips to Set On T ime hours. Repeat step s 6 through 9 to set On T ime. 13. Set the T imer mode to On to activ ate the Sleep T imer settings. 14. When you are f inished, select Sav e and Return to exit the menu. The f ifth selection, Sleep No w , turns the monitor backlights off immediately and stays in sleep mode until the next On T ime acti v ates or a monitor b utton is pressed. sRGB Su p por t The monitor is designed to support sRGB for color management, which adapts to the color standards used in the image technology industry . T o take adv antage of the sRGB support, you will need to change your monitorâ s color temperature to sRGB and install the sRGB color prof ile (ICM) file. â The sRGB color temperature preset will improv e the color accuracy of sRGB images on the computer monitor , b ut some color v ariation may still occur .

Bâ6 User Gui de T echni cal Spec ific ations Energy Sav er Feature When the monitor is in its normal operating mode, the monitor uses less than 40 watts of po wer and the Power light is green. The monitor also supports a reduced po wer state. The reduced po wer state will be entered into if the monitor detects the absence of either the horizontal sync signal and/or the vertical sync signal. Upon detecting the absence of thes e signals, the monitor screen is blanked, the backlight is turned of f, and the Power light is turned amber . When the monitor is in the reduced po wer state, the monitor will utilize less than 2 watts of po wer . There is a brief warm up period before the monitor will return to its normal operating mode. Refer to your computer manual for instructions on setting energ y sa ver features (sometimes calle d po wer management features). â The abov e ener gy sa ver feature only works when connected to computers that ha ve ener gy sa ver features. By selecting settings in the monitorâ s Ener gy Sa v er utility , you can also program the monitor to enter into the reduced po wer state at a predetermined time. When the monitorâ s Ener gy Sav er utility causes the monitor to enter the reduced po wer state, the Po wer light blinks amber .

This feature allo ws the monitor to operate on input v oltages between 100-120V or 200-240V . The po wer cord set (flexible cord or w all plug) recei v ed with the monitor meets the requirements for use in the country where you purchased the equipment. If you need to obtain a po wer cord for a dif ferent country , you should purchase a po wer cord that is appro ved for use in that country . The po wer cord must be rated for the product and for the v oltage and current marked on the product's electrical ratings label. Ne vertheless, the display may ha ve cosmetic imperfections that appear as small bright or dark spots. This is common to all LCD displays us ed in products supplied b y all vendors and is not specif ic to the HP LCD. These imperfections are caused by one or more defecti ve pix els or sub-pixels. â A pixel consists of one red, one green, and one blue sub-pixel. â A defecti ve whole pix el is alw ays turned on (a bright spot on a dark background), or it is alw ays of f (a dark spot on a bright background). The f irst is the more visible of the two. â A defecti ve sub-pix el (dot defect) is less visible than a defecti ve whole pix e l and is small and only visible on a specif ic background. The HP display does not ha ve more than: â 3 bright dots. â 5 dark dots. â 5 total bright and dark dots. â No more than two adjacent (less than 25 mm edge-to-edge) defecti ve pix els.
