Power Supply Power to the ACL uni t s are supp l ied thr ough an AC conne ctor at the rear panel of the pow er sup ply . T he ACL unit’ s power is normal ly co ntrolled fro m the graphi cal user inte rface (GU I) touch screen; howeve r , a manual p ower d isconnect switch, l ocated at the rea r of the po wer sup ply may also be used. Robotics The A CL t ape drive’ s robotics co nsist of a cartridge shuttle, motor hardw are, moto r dri ves, and othe r support electro nics. Th ese robotics a re capabl e of pi cking and pla cing t apes throughou t the tap e dr ive and the t ape cartri dge magazi ne. T o setup t he ra ckmount mod el: 1. Ensure that you have adequate sp ace available in the rack. 2. Use the temp late tha t is shippe d with the uni t t o mark the l ocation o f the moun ting hardw are on the mounting r ails of th e storage ca binet. Push back the ta bs in th e top of the templ ate and place them in the correc t hol es in the mounti ng rack. M atch up the hol e patte rn indicated o n the sides of the tem plate with the ho le patter n in th e mo unting rack. b. Make sure to b egin m easuri ng in t he correct p lace. If a unit is al ready i nstal led im mediat ely below th e planned po sition of the new unit, th en place the templ ate agai nst the front o f the mounti ng ra ck and rest i t o n top of the previousl y in sta lled unit. c. Use t he fr ont of the te mplate to m ark th e attachm ent point s for mounti ng bracket s, rails, comp onents, or ca ge nuts o n the back of the sto rage cabinet . d. Use the ba ck of the temp late to mark the atta chment point s for the mou nting bracket s, rails, comp onents, or ca ge nuts o n the back of the sto rage cabinet . 3. Remove the t emplat e. 4. Push the middle sl ide mem ber as far as po ssible to the fr ont of the slide member assembly . 8. Instal l the two clip nu ts on each of th e rack’s fr ont v ertical r ails. 9. Confirm that the b earing carri er is in the retai ned p osition. 10. Lif t the unit and visually align the inner a nd mid dle slide m embers. 1 1. V erify the b all bear ing slide mem bers are lo cated in the front p osition. 12. Slide the u nit completely into the rack un til the fr ont p anel touch es the rack. 13. Reserve the clea ning car tri dge slot. S ee the section o n “S etting up Reser ved S lot s” in Chapter 3 for more information . 2. Inst all a clea ning cartridg e in th e rese rved slot. 3. Select the Cl ean On e Drive menu o ption f r om the Maintena nce submenu on the front p anel disp l ay . Note that the Sour ce wind ow d e faults to th e cle aning slot (Cln'g Slo t 0). 4. Replacing a Cleaning Cart ri dge in a Reserved Slot When the cle aning ca rtr idge ha s been used u p, a message appe ars on the f ront p anel disp lay indicati ng that the cleaning car tridge has e xpired . Ex amine the un it’s S tatus screen to make su re tha t the cleaning car tri dg e has be en unlo aded fr om t he t ape drive. If not, th en unload it u si ng the Move Media menu option from the ACL S ta tus scre en. Replacing a Cleaning Cartridge i n the Right Magaz ine 1. Select Ma gazine Access from the ACL S tatu s scree n. 2. Remove the magazi ne fro m the ACL. 3. Remove the e xpired cleaning cartridge from the last slot. Ma rk it EXPIRED and then prop erly disp ose of it . 4. Place a ne w cleaning cartridge i n the last slot of th e ma gazine. 5. Replace the right ma gazine.
