Welcome Congratulations on the purchase of your new HP Wireless USB Keyboard and Mouse. This guide will provide you the n ecessary steps to installing and maintaining your keyb oard and mouse. Installation Software Installation Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. If the setup program does not appear, click Start, th en click Run. Type <drive letter>:\setup. Click Ok. (For exam ple, if the disk is in drive D, enter D:\Setup.) Follow the onscreen i n stru cti ons. Y ou will be asked to reboot your PC. Hardware Installation STEP 1 - Power on your system. STEP 2 - Connect the USB receiver to any available USB port or hub connected to your computer. STEP 3 - Continue on to the User Setup on Page 7. - 5 -
Battery Installation Mouse STEP 1 - Press the battery compartment release located on the bottom of the mouse to open the battery compartment. STEP 2 - Install the two batteries into the compartment paying close attention to proper polarities. STEP 3 - Close the battery compartment cover. Keyboard STEP 1 - Press the battery compartment release located on the bottom of the keyboard to open the battery compartment STEP 2 - Install the two batteries into the compartment paying close attention to proper polarities. User Setup By default your keyboard and mouse shou ld work immediately. If not, the receiver and the keyboard and mouse must be synchronized and you need to perform the following procedure. - 7 - STEP 3 - Press the Connect button located on the receiver again. STEP 1 - Press the Connect button located on the receiver. STEP 2 - Press the Connect button located on the bottom of the keyboard. STEP 4 - Press the Connect button located on the bottom of the mouse.
Configuration Customize your keyboard settings using “ Contro l Panel ” Windows XP – Category View Click on Start, select Settings / Control Pane l / Printers and Other Hardware / Keyboard, to customize your keyboar d setting s. Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 and XP – Classic View Click on Start, select Settings / Control Pa nel / Keyboard, to customize your keyboard settings. - 8 -
Configuration continued Customize your keyboard’s special keyboard buttons Once the software is corr ectly installed, you can customize your keyb oard’s speci al keyboard buttons. To a ccess the config uration screen, click on the icon in your system tray. On this screen, you can change the preset actions of your keyboard’s special keyboard buttons. To change a preset button, click on the button you wish to change, then select the function you want the keyboard to do. You can even customize the buttons to perform combination key shortcuts, such as ALT F 4 to close the currently sel e ct ed window. There is also an internet link to the support site on the configuration screen. Clicki ng on the link will open your default internet browser and display the support page. - 9 -

Special Keyboard Buttons Continued Office Hot Keys This keyboard fea tures 12 integrated Of fice Hot Keys along the row of the F1 through F12 keys. This feat ure is toggled b y the key. When you press the key the Office Key s feature is activated. To turn off the Office Keys feature, press the key again. F1: New Creates a new file in the application yo u are using (new e-mail for instance). F2: Forward Forwards the selected email in Mi crosoft Outlook or Outlook Express. F3: Reply Replies to the select ed email in Mi crosoft Outlook or Outlook Express. F4: Reply All Replies to the select ed email to all in Microsoft Outlook or Outl oo k Express. F5: Undo Reverses the last command or delet es the last entry you typed or action. F6: Redo Reverses the action of the Undo command. F7: Save Saves the active file with current fi le name, location and file format. F8: Send Sends the selected email in Micros oft Outlook or Outlook Express. F9: Cut Removes the selection f rom the active docu ment and copies it to the clipboard. F10: Copy Copies the selection to the clipboard. F11: Paste Pastes the previously cut or copi ed items from the clipboard. F12: Spell Starts the spelling-check prog ram in the active document. - 13 -

P Volume Control Volume knob: Increa se speaker vol ume when turn ed clockwise and decreases when turn ed counterclockwise. It can be turned indefinitely, even after maximum sound has bee n re ach ed. Q Mute Mute sound. Push again to turn the mute off. *Note: To change your default media player, open “My Computer”, then click on “Tools” and go to “Folder Options”. In the “Folder Options” screen , click on the “File Types” tab, and then select “MP3” from the list. Once you have sele cted “MP 3”, you will see that the lower portion of the window will say “Details for ‘MP3’ extension”. Clic k on the button that says “Change” and you will have a choice of which programs to open your MP 3s with. You can also right click on the file you wish to open, and choose “Open With” and select th e “Choose Program” option. To make it so the file always opens with that application, select the application and c heck mark the box that says “Always use the selected program to ope n this kind of f ile”. - 14 -
