Battery information Copyr ight © 2007 No kia. All righ ts rese rved. 23 5. Battery information ■ Chargi ng and disc harging Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after tw o or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and disc harged hundreds of times, but it w ill eventually wear ou t. When the talk an d standby ti mes are noticea bly shorter th an normal, replace t he battery. Use only Nokia approved batteries, and recharge your battery only with Nokia approved chargers designated for this de vice. If a replacement battery is b eing used for the fi rst time or if the battery has not been used for a prolonged period, it may be necessary to conn ect the cha rger and then disconnect an d reconnect it to sta rt the chargin g. Unplug the charger from t he electric al plug and the device when not in use. Do not leave fully charged batt ery connected to a charger, since overcharging may shorten its lifetime . If left unused, a fully charged batt ery w ill lose its charge over time. 9251000_ 1110i_en _apac.fm Page 23 Monday , March 26, 2007 5:53 PM
Battery information 24 Copyr ight © 2007 Nokia. All rights re se rved. If the batt ery is completely di scharged, it may take a few minutes before the charging indicator appears on the display or before any calls can be made. Use the battery only for it s int ended p urpose. Never use any charger or battery that is damaged. Do not s hort-ci rcui t the battery . Accidental short-circuit ing can occur when a metallic ob ject such as a coin, clip, or pen causes direct conne ction of the positiv e ( ) and neg ative (-) terminals of the battery. (These look like me tal strips on the battery.) This might happen, for examp le, when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the co nnecting object. Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions , will reduce t he capacity and lifetime of the battery. Al ways try to keep the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). A device with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily, even when t he battery is fully charged. Battery performance is particularly limited in temperature s well below freezing. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode if damaged. Di spose of batteries according to local regulations. P lease recycle when possible. Do not dispose as household waste. 9251000_ 1110i_en _apac.fm Page 24 Monday , March 26, 2007 5:53 PM

To check t hat you are getting an ori ginal Nokia battery, purchase it from an authorized Nokia dealer, look for the Nokia Original Enhancements logo on the packaging and inspect t he hologram label using the following steps: Successful compl etion of the four steps is not a total assurance of the authenticity of the batter y. If you have an y reason to believe that your battery i s not an authent ic original Noki a battery, you should refrain from using it, and take it to t he nearest authorized Nokia s ervice point or dealer for assistance. Your authorized Nokia service point or dealer will inspect the batte ry for authenti city . If aut henti city ca nnot be v erified , return the battery to the place of purchase. Authenticate hologram 1. When looking at the hologram on the label, yo u should see the Nokia connecting hands symbol from one angle and the Nokia Original Enhancements logo when looking from another angle. 9251000_ 1110i_en _apac.fm Page 25 Monday , March 26, 2007 5:53 PM

All rights re se rved. ■ Certification info rmation (SAR) THIS DEVICE MEETS INTERNATIONAL GUI DELINES FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WA VES Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) recommende d by international guidelines (ICNIRP). T hese limits are part of comp rehensi ve guidelines and establish permitte d levels of RF energ y for the general populat ion. The guidelines were de veloped by independent scienti fic organi zations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scienti fi c studi es. The guidel ine s include a substantial safety margin design ed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The expos ure standard for mobile de vices employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit s tated in the intern ational guide lines i s 2.0 wat ts/ kilogram (W/kg)*. Tests for SAR are conducted usi ng standard operat ing positions with the device transmit ting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Althoug h the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR of the device while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the device is designed to operat e at multiple pow er leve ls so as t o use only the power 9251000_ 1110i_en _apac.fm Page 40 Monday , March 26, 2007 5:53 PM

In general, the closer you are to a base station, the lower the power output of the device. The highest SAR value for this device when tested for use at the ear is 0. 78 W/kg . SAR values may vary depending on national reporti ng and testing requirements and the network band. Use of device accessories and enha ncements may result in different SAR values. Additional SAR inform ation may be provided und er product informat ion at www.nokia-asia.com. * The SAR limit for mobile devices used by the public is 2.0 W/ kg averaged over 10 grams of body tissue. The guidelines incorporate a s ubstantial margin of safety to give add itiona l protection for the public and to account for any variations in measurements. SAR v alues may vary depending on national reporting requireme nts and the network band.
