Unplug t he charger from th e electric al plug and the devi ce when not in use. Do not leav e the b a tte ry co nne cted to a c h a rger . Ov erchargin g may sh ort en i ts li feti me. If left un used, a fully ch arged battery w ill lose its charge o ver time. If the battery is completely discharge d, it ma y take a few minutes before the charging indicator appears on the display or before any calls can be made. To prolong batte ry life of NiMh batteries, dis charge the ba ttery from time to time by leavi ng your device swit ched on un til it turns itself off. Do not atte mpt to discharge the battery by any othe r means. Use the batte ry only for its intended purpose. Never use any charger or battery that is damaged. Do no t short-circuit the batte ry. Acciden tal short-circ uiting can occur wh en a metalli c object such as a coin, clip, or pen causes direct conne ction of the positive ( ) and negative (-) te rminals of th e battery. (These look like metal strips on the battery.) This might happen, for e xample, when you carry a spare battery in your poc ket or purse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the co nnecting object. Leaving the battery in hot or cold plac es, such as in a closed car in summer or wint er condition s, will redu ce the ca pacity and life time of th e battery. Alw ays try to kee p the batte ry between 15ðC and 25 ðC (59ðF a nd 77ðF). A device with a ho t or cold batt ery may not w ork temporarily, even wh en th e bat tery is ful ly charge d. Batte ry performance is pa rticularly limite d in tempera tures well below free zing. Do not di sp ose of batteries i n a fire as they may exp lo de. Batteri es may also ex plode if damaged. Dispose of batteries according to local regul ations. Please re cycle when possible. Do not dispose batteries as household waste. 2128i.ENv1a_B IL_9240270.fm Page 65 Wednesday, February 8, 2006 10:05 AM

Additional safety information 72 â Cer ti ficat io n in form at ion (SA R) This mob ile device meets guidelines for exposure to radio waves. Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits recomm ended by in ternational guideline s. These guideline s were developed by th e independent scientific org anization ICNIRP and include safet y margins de signed to assu re the prot ection of all person, regardless of age and health . The exposure guide lines for mobile devices employ a un it of measurement know n as the Specific Abs orp tion Rate or SAR. Th e SAR limit set by ICNIRP is 2 .0 watts/ kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Tests for SAR a re conducted using standard operating pos itions with the dev ice trans mitting a t its highest certified pow er level in all teste d frequency bands . The actual SAR leve l of an operating devic e can be well below the maximum value because the device is designed to use only th e power required to reach the network. That amount changes depending on a num ber of fact ors such as how close y ou are to a network base station. The highe st SAR value when tested according to intern ational testin g procedure s for use at the e ar is 0.72 W/kg . Use of device accessories and enhanc ements may result in different SAR values. SAR values may vary depe nding on national reporting and testing requ irements and the netw ork band. Additional SAR information may be provided unde r product inform ation at www.nokia.com . Your mobile device is als o designed to meet th e requirements for exposure to radio waves established by the Federa l Communic ations Commission (USA) and Industry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6 W /kg average d over one gram of tissue. The highest SAR valu e reporte d under t his standard du ring product certific a tion for use at the ear is 1.21 W/kg and when prope rly worn on the body is 1.17 W/kg. Information about this device can be found on the FCC's we bsite at http://www.f cc.gov/oet/fccid by searching th e equipment authorization system using F CC ID: QM NRH -71. 2128i.ENv1a_B IL_9240270.fm Page 72 Wednesday, February 8, 2006 10:05 AM
