7 General info rmation ■ Access codes The security c ode supplied with the phone prot ects your ph one aga inst un authoriz ed use. The prese t code is 12 345. The PIN code, supplied with the SIM card, prot ects the ca rd against unauth orized use . The PIN2 code, supplied with some SIM cards, is required to access certain services. If you enter the PIN or PIN2 code incorrectly, three times in succession, you are asked for the PUK or PUK2 code. If you do not have them, contact your local service provider. The mo dule PIN is re quired to acce ss the inf o rmati on in the secu rit y module of yo ur SIM card. The si gn ing P IN m ay be r equire d fo r t he dig it al sign atur e. The re stri ctio n p asswor d is req uired when us ing the call res triction serv ice. Select Menu > Settings > Security to set how your phone uses the access c odes and security settin gs. 1. Get started ■ Install the SIM car d and battery Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. For availabilit y and inform ation on using SIM card servic es, contact your SIM card vend or. This may be the service provider or oth er vendor. This phon e is intended for use with a BL-4B battery. Not e: Always switch off the power and disconnect the charger and any other device before remov ing the cover. Avoid touching electron ic components wh ile changing the c ove r. 8 2. To remove the ba ttery, lift it a s shown. 3. Carefully lift the S IM card holder f r om the fing er grip of the phone, and open t he flip cover. 4. Ins ert the SIM card, so tha t the bev elled corner is on the upper left side and the gold-colored con tact area facing d ownward. 5. Close the SIM card holder, and press it to lock it into place. 6. Ins ert the batte ry into the battery slot. 7. Align the back cover with the back of the ph one. Slide and push it tow ard the bottom of the phone t o lock it. ■ Charge the ba ttery Check th e m odel nu mber o f any charg er before us e with th is device. This device is intended for use when supplie d with power from an AC -3 charger. Warn ing: U se only batteries, chargers, and enhancements approv ed by Nok ia for use with this particular mode l. When you disconnect the power cord of any enh ancement, grasp and pull the plug , not the cord. 1. Con nect the charger to a wall outlet. 2. Lift the cover at the top of the phone . 3. 10 ■ Sta ndby mode When the phone is ready for use, and you have not entered any characters, the phone is in the standby mode: 1 — Network signal strength. 2 — B atte ry char ge l evel . 3 — Network nam e or the operator logo. 4 — Fun ction of the left sele ction key is Go t o , which is used to vie w the function s in your personal s hortcut lis t. To answe r a call when the keyguar d is on, press the cal l key. When you end or de cline the cal l, the keypad remains locked. To unloc k, selec t Unlo ck and press * quickly. Select Menu > Se ttings > Phone > Automa tic ke ygua rd > On to se t the keypa d to lock automatically after a preset time delay when the phone is in the standby mode. When the keypad lock is on, ca lls may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your de vice. 3. Call functions ■ Ma ke and answer a call To make a call, enter the phone numbe r, including th e country code and are a code, if necessary. Press the ca ll key to call th e numbe r. Scroll right to inc rease, or left to decre ase, the volume of the earpiece or headset during th e phone call. To answer an incoming c all, press the call ke y. To decl ine the cal l without ans wering, press the en d ke y or clos e th e fold. 11 ■ 1-touch dialing To assign a nu mber to a 1-touc h-dialing k ey, select Menu > Contacts > 1- touc h dialing , scroll to the desired 1-tou ch-dialing num ber, and select Assi gn . Enter the desired phone numbe r, or select Fin d to choose a phone number from your phone book. To switch the 1-touch dialing function on, select Menu > Se ttings > Call > 1-tou ch dialing > On . To make a ca ll using the 1-touch -dialing ke ys , in the standby mode , press and hold the desired num ber key. ■ Loudspe aker If available , you may s elect Lo udsp. or Normal t o use the loudsp eak er or t he earpiec e o f the phone during a call. Warning: Do not hold the devic e near your ear when the l oudspeak er i s in u se, bec ause t he volume may be e xtrem ely l oud. 4. Write text You can en ter text in pred ictive text ( ) and traditiona l text ( ) input. To use tradition al text input, press a number ke y (1 to 9) repea tedly until the desired char acter appears. To turn predictive text input on or off when writ ing, press and hold # , and select Prediction on or Prediction off . When usi ng predict ive text input, press each key once for a sing le letter. If the d isplayed word is the one you want, press 0 to add a space, an d write the next word. To c h ange the word, press * repeatedly until the word you wa nt appears. If ? is displayed after the word, the w ord is not in th e dictiona ry. S elect Exi t or Bac k to e xit the current leve l of menu. Press th e end ke y to return to the standby mode direct ly. To chan ge th e menu v iew, selec t Menu > Opt ions > Main menu vi ew > List or Grid . ■ Me ssaging The message services c an only be used if they are s u pported by your network or service provider . Select Menu > Me ssaging > Message setting s > M ultimedia m sgs. and from the following: MM S crea ti on mo de > Re str ic ted — t o se t th e ph on e to no t allow t he type of c on ten t tha t m ay not be supported by the network or the receiving dev ice in a multimedia message. Select Free to allow such contents, but the rec eiving device may no t receive the message properly . Image size (restricte d) or Image size (free) — to defi ne the s ize of the im age you may insert into a mu ltimedia me ssage when MMS creation mode is set to Restr icted or Fre e . Allow multimedia rec eption — Se lect No , Ye s , or In home network to u se the mu ltimedia service . Allow adve rtisements — to choose whether you allow the receptio n of message s defined as adve rtisemen ts. This settin g is no t shown if Allo w mult imedia rec eption is se t to No . Configu ration settings — to select the default serv ice provide r for retrieving multimedia message s. Select A c count to see the accounts provided by the servic e provider and to select the one you wa nt to use. 13 Text mess ages Your device supports the sending of text messages beyond the character limit for a single message. L onger messages ar e sent as a seri es of two or more messag es. Your service provider may charge accordingly. Characters that use accents or other m arks, and characters from some language options, take up mo re space, limiting the num ber of characters that can be sent i n a sin gle mess age. An indicator at t he top of the display shows th e t otal number of characters left an d the num ber of messages needed for se nding. For example, 673/2 means that there are 673 charact ers left and that the message will be sent as a series of two message s. The blink ing indicates that the me ssage me mory is full. Before you can re ceive new messages, de lete some of your old m essages. Multi m edia messages (MMS) Only de vices tha t have com patible features ca n receive and dis play mu ltimedia me ssages. The appearance of a message may vary depending on th e receiving device. Th e wirel ess n etwork may l imit t he si ze of MMS messag es. If the ins erted pi ctur e ex ceeds this limi t, the devic e may ma ke it smaller so th at it can be sent by MMS . A multime dia messa ge can contain text, pictures , and sound clips. Create text or multimedia message Select Menu > Me ssaging > Create mess age > Me ssage . To add re cipients, scroll to the To : field, and enter the reci pient’s number, or select Add to sele ct recipient s from the available options. To add Cc o r Bc c recipients, se lect Options > Add recipient > Cc or Bcc . To en te r mess age text, scr oll to the Text : fiel d, an d enter t he te xt. To add a subj ect fo r the mes sage, sel ect Opti ons > A dd subject , and e nter th e subject . To attach content to th e mess age, sele ct Option s > Inse rt and the desired type of attachment. To se nd the message, press the call key. The message type is c h anged automatically dependin g on the cont ent of the message. En el modo de demostración, es posible que se pu eda llamar a los números de emergencia oficiales programados en su dispositivo. ■ Bloqueo de teclado (bloqueo de teclas) Seleccione Men ú y pul se la tecl a * rápidamente para bloquear el teclado para evit ar la pulsación accidental de las teclas.
