University of South Australia Mobile Teleph one Procedures – Nokia 6230i Page 3 Document Summary This document will detail how to send and view your email and how to synchronize yo ur calendar, contacts, to do list and notes. It will also cover instruction on how to use the phones inbuilt web browser Activating GPRS To send/view email your phone sim card will need to have GPRS activated on it. To do this you will need to contact the telephone helpdesk with the following details: • Name • Phone number • Statement saying you need GPRS activated on your Sim card The telephone facilities can be contacted via the following: • Phone ext. 25040 • Email telephone.facilities@unisa.edu.au Telephone facilities will send you an email wi thin two business days. This will contain a message that you will need to SMS to Optus. The current message for the Nokia 3230 is ‘Set Nokia buswap2 gprs’ and needs to be sent to the number 8888. Optus will reply to the message with a SMS. *Please note: if a message from Optus is n’t received contact telephone facilities . When the settings are received the follo wing message will pop up on your phone: “Configuration settings received Optus BusWAP” This message needs to be saved. To save the message do the following: 1. open the message by selecting “Show” 2. select save enter password of ‘1234’ 3. select “yes” to activate saved configuration settings 4. select “Done” Your phone and sim card now have GPRS access.
University of South Australia Mobile Teleph one Procedures – Nokia 6230i Page 4 V iewing and Synchronizing your Calendar Required Items To synchronize your calendar you need the following: • Nokia PC Suite Software availa ble from the Nokia website here http://www.nokia- asia.com/nokia/0,,81557,00.html#download • a way to connect the phone to your computer e.g. Bluetooth, USB Cable or infrared Steps to Synchronize 1. install Nokia PC Suite Software 2. open Nokia PC suite 3. select connection method Bluetooth, U SB Cable or infrared and follow the prompts (remember to switch Bluetooth to on in the phone settings, go to ‘Connect.’ on the main menu and select ‘Bluetooth’)

University of South Australia Mobile Teleph one Procedures – Nokia 6230i Page 8 V iewing and Sending email To access your email you need to make a GPRS connection and go to the following site: • https://my.unisa.edu.au/oma The easiest way to this is to make a bookmark of the site above. Steps to create a bookmark for th e UniSA O utlook Web Access pa ge 1. Open the menu and select “Web” 2. Scroll down and select “Bookmarks” 3. Select “Options” 4. Scroll down and select “New bookmark” 5. Enter the address “https://my. unisa.edu.au/oma” and select “OK” 6. Enter a title for the book mark e.g. UniSA Web Email To connect to the website 1. Open the menu and select “Web” 2. Scroll down and select “Bookmarks” 3. Scroll down and select “UniSA Web Email” 4. Press “OK” 5. Enter your User name and press “OK” 6. Enter your Passw ord and press “OK” 7. If an error message pops up saying that your phone isn’t supported simply scroll down and select ‘Ok” or “Ok, and do not warn me again” You have now connect to UniSA’s OMA email system
University of South Australia Mobile Teleph one Procedures – Nokia 6230i Page 9 The base menu When you are connected to the website a web page will open stat ing that the device type you are using isn’t supported and to press ok to continue, simply select either option depending on whether you want to see this message again or not. Once past the error screen you will see a screen with the following options displayed using plain text: • Inbox • Calendar • Contacts • Tasks • Find Someone • Compose New • Preferences • Mail Folder Tree • About Viewing and reply ing t o a n e mail To view email select ‘Inbox’, t he first ten subject lines of y our messages will be displayed, to view the next ten select ‘Next’, to view an email select the corresponding subject line. To reply to an email scroll down to the end of the message and select ‘Reply’. The options at the bottom of the email function very similar to t heir counterparts in Outlook. Sending email To send an email select ‘Compose new’, then se lect ‘Email’, then fill in the fields like a normal email. When you have finished composi ng the email scroll down and select ‘Send’. Accepting/Rejecti ng a meeting/ap pointment request From the base menu select ‘Inbox’ and open the request, you can then scroll down and accept/reject the request. Acc epting the request will only update your outlook calendar not your phone calendar. Opening folders other than t he inbox From the base menu select ‘Mail Folder Tree’. This will give you a folder view of your inbox. You can open the folders by selecting them and view more folders by selecting ‘Next’.

Type in the URL of the web site you want to go to Creating a Bookmark Follow the steps from the sect ion ‘Steps to create a bookmark for the UniSA Outlook Web Access page’ except fill in the fields with t he details of the URL you want to bookmark. Known Issues Appointment Problems – D a ylight savings Please be aware that re-occurring appointment s that span a change in daylight savings may become up to an hour out in your phone calendar.
