© 2000 Nokia Mobile Phones. All rights reserved. Reference information 124 • Your phone is powered by a rechargeable battery . • Note that a new battery's fu ll performance is achieved only after two or three com plete charge and discharge cycles. • The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out. When the operating time (talk-time and stand-by time) is noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a new battery . • Use only batteries approved by the ph one manufacturer and rech arge your battery only with the chargers approved by the manufacturer . • When a charger is not in use, disconnect it from the power source. Do not leave the battery connected to a charger f or longer than a w eek, since overcharging may shorten its life. If left unused a fully c harged battery will discharge itself over t ime. • Temperature extremes will af fect the ability of your battery to charge: allow it to cool down or warm u p first . • When the battery is running out of power and only few minutes of talk time remain, a warning tone is heard and Battery low is briefly displayed. W hen no more talk time is left, Battery empty is displayed and a warning tone is sounded and the phone switches itself off. Usin g the batt erie s • The battery must be kept dry . • Use the battery only for its intended purpose. • Never use any charger or battery which is dam aged or worn out. • Do not short-circuit the battery . Short- circuiting the terminals m ay damage the battery or the connecting object. • Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery . Always try to keep th e battery between 15 º C a nd 25 º C (59 F and 77 F). A ph one with a hot or cold battery may temporarily not work, even when the battery is fully charged. Li-Ion batteries performance is particularly limited in temperatures below - 0 º C (32 F). • Do not dispose of batter ies in a fire! Batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly . Must not be disposed of in municipal waste!
