Phone a t a glanc e 10 ■ Phone menus Phone feature s are grouped according to func tion and are access ed through th e ma in me nu s ( Get It Now , Messagi ng , Contacts , Recent Calls , Sett i ngs & T ool s ). Each main menu contain s submenu s and lists from which you ca n selec t or view items and customize your de vice features. To access these menu s and submenus, enter the nu mber ass ociated with that option . You ma y also use the scroll method. The le ft, right an d cente r selec tion k eys are a lso calle d soft keys . The funct ion associated with the soft keys can change for each phone menu and depends on each s electe d feature. Some features may not be available, depending on your netw ork. For more inform ation, cont act your wire less service provid er. ■ Scroll method You ca n use th e naviga tion key to move up, down, left, and right through the optio ns. To improve the signal streng th on y our ph on e, ex te nd the ante nn a. An internal GPS ante nna is activated whe n you place an em ergency call or when you sele ct t he Loca t i on mode from the Me n u > Setting & Tools > System me nu. See "Loc at ion, " p. 4 5. Hold th e device as you would any othe r telephone with the antenna area pointe d up and over your shoulder. Not e: As wit h any ot her ra dio tr ansmi t ting devi ce, d o not tou ch th e antenna unneces sar ily when th e device i s swit ched on. Set up your phone 12 Remove the back cov er 1. With the back of the dev ice facing you, slide the rele ase but ton up (1 ). 2. Use th e s ide gr ips (cir cled ) to lift the back cover from the de vic e (2). Repl ace t he back co ver 1. Set th e back cover o n the device so that th e metal ta bs on the batte ry align wi th the tabs in the device. 2. Lower the base of the back cover o nto th e de vice (1 ) and press the top down (2) u ntil it sna ps se cure ly i n plac e. Impo r ta nt : Do not remove the front cover of this device . Attempts to remov e the front cove r may dama ge the device. If you r dev ice requires se rvice, co ntact the Nokia Care Conta ct Ce nter. Ch arge th e bat ter y 1. Plug t he AC-10 04U charger transf ormer into a st andard ac out let.

Your ph one w ill not ify you when the ch arge is c omplete . The char ge time varies depending on the battery le ve l. T he m axim um char ge time for a fully discharged, standard battery is approxim atel y 3.5 hours. ■ T urn your phone on or off To turn your phone on or off, press and hold the power key. Th e cover does not have to be open to tu rn on your phone . ■ Connect the headset You ca n plug a compatible h eadset, such as a standard 2. 5 mm plug he adset, into your device to allow h ands-free operation. Warn in g: When you use the h eadset, y our ability to hear outs ide sounds may be affe cted. Do not use the head set where it can end anger you r safet y. 1. Ope n the he adset con nector port ( 1).

From the standby mode, enter the num ber yo u wan t to ca ll , and press the se n d key . Se e "C onta ct s," p . 35, to u se the con tacts menu and to e nter con tact nu mbers. This is a netwo rk featu re. Use the ke ypad Enter the phone number (inc luding the are a code if necessary), and press the send key. To dele te a charac ter to th e left of the curs or, press the cle ar (CLR) key. Press the end key to end the call. This is a network feature . Use re cent ly di aled num ber s In the standby mode, press the send key once to display the latest numbers dialed, received, or misse d. Press the send k ey again to dial the l ast num ber you dialed, or scroll to select the number (or name) you wish to redial, and press the send key . This is a network feature. Speak er ph on e To use the speak er phone whe n in a call, press and hold the voic e recognit ion key locat ed on th e left side of th e phon e. The icon is displ ayed. To turn the speaker phon e off, pr ess and hold the voice rec ogniti on key again. This is a n etwork feature . Voice r ecognitio n You c an u se voic e comm ands to mak e calls , look u p c ontact inform ation, address message s, ope n ap plica tions , and ch eck t he ph one statu s. This is a netw ork feature . Say one of the following commands: Call followed by the contact name, location, or nu mber with area code— To dial a con tact or number. Send text followed by the contact name or number with area code—To open the T XT messa ge sc ree n. Lookup follow ed by the contact name— To open a contact file. Go to followed by an application name —To open an application. Che ck [status ] —To display phone coverage, signal strength, and battery level. Adjust the earp iece vol u me The volume keys are located on the left side of your de vice. To adjust the volume whe n in a c all, pre ss the volu me up key or volume dow n key. When y ou ad just th e volum e, a bar ch art is displaye d to indicate volu me leve l. Caller ID To disp lay both th e name a nd num ber of t h e per son call ing you, th e ca ller’s iden tity must be st ored in Con ta ct s . If the calle r is not in the conta ct list, the num ber is display ed, o r it is sh own as R ESTRICT ED or UNAVA ILABLE. T he date and tim e wh en the in comin g ca ll arrives is always dis playe d.
Set up your phone 16 Picture ID You can assig n a pict ure to di splay with inco ming calls from yo ur co ntacts. See "Assign picture I D," p. 2 1. Silen t mod e To turn sounds off, press and hold the volume down key until -SO UNDS OFF- ACTIVA TED is displayed. To turn sounds back on, press and hold the volume up key until -NOR MAL MODE - ACTIVA TED is displayed. T ext entry The Nokia 6 305i phone offers seve ral methods for entering te xt and num bers: T9Word (sentence , all cap s, and lowerca se), Abc , ABC , 123 , and Symbols . • P re ss the cl ea r key to back spac e th e cur sor and del et e a chara cter. • Press and hold the clear key to backspac e contin uously an d delete all cha racters . • Pr ess # to en ter a space, th ereby acce pt ing a complet ed wor d, when in the subject or text area of a message, or entering a contact or group name . • Press 1 to enter the symbol m ode, when in the subject or text area of a m essage. • Pr ess * to switch betwe en sente nce ca se, upp er case and lo wer cas e whe n in T9Word or Abc mode when in the text area of a message, or entering a contact or group name. Press and hold * each time to sw itch be twee n T9 Word , Abc , and 123 modes when i n th e text area of a message, or ente ring a contact or group name. • Press the entry mode soft key, and select Symbols to insert spe cial charac ters into your me ssage. Depen ding on whic h screen you are vie wing, this may be either the left or right select ion key. The entry mode soft key will displa y the current ly sele cted en try mode ( T9W or d , Abc , AB C , 12 3 , or Symbols ). Symbols are not allowed in contact or group nam es. ■ T9Word (T9) mode T9 mo de allo ws y ou to writ e me ssages qu ickly u sing you r keypa d and the built-in dictionary. T9 mode is much faster than the standard mode method because you only press the correspon ding key on your keypad once for each le tter. Press a key once to insert the first letter on the key, twice for the secon d letter, etc. If you paus e br iefly, th e last lett er in th e disp lay is ac cepted a nd your device aw ait s the ne x t ent ry. ■ Numbers (123) To switch to number mode from any other mode, press the entry mode soft key, and sel ect 12 3 .
Get It Now 19 4. Get It Now Ge t It No w allows you to download tune s, ringtones, pictures, videos, news, information , and games. You can also find location in formation for restaurants , ATMs, etc. With Ge t It N o w you c an personalize you r phone to your own life style an d taste s. This is a netw ork feature. Ge t It No w c a n b e u s e d a n y w h e r e o n t h e V e r i z o n W i r e l e s s n e t w o r k , a s l o n g a s your phon e has a digital signal available. This feature shares m emory space w ith ot her fe atures. ■ V CAST V CA ST is a multimed ia service availa ble through Get I t No w that de livers a streaming m obile video experience with increased download speeds, higher qua lity pictures, bet ter sound, and longer clips . With V CAST you can strea m video clips ( up to 5 m inutes long) of t he hottes t enterta inment , sports h ighlights, news and breaking weathe r to your Nokia 6305i phone . Cont acts 37 ■ Caller groups You can add con tact list entries to caller groups. A contact can only be assigned to one caller group at a time. Th e default caller groups are Family , VIP , Friends , and Business , but new caller grou ps can be created. Assign or crea te n ew cal ler group s Caller groups can be create d or modified in multiple wa ys. You can create or update caller groups and assign contact list entries to the groups. You can also add or modify indiv idual contact list entries by adding them to caller groups. Create or modif y caller groups 1. Se le c t Me nu > Con ta ct s > Group . 2 .
