Other usage could invalidate an y approval given to this apparatus and might be da ngerous. Wa r n i n g : When you purc hase batter ies, ch argers , and access ories for your phone, use only batteries, chargers, and accessories th at have received appr oval from the ph one’s manufacturer . The use of any other type of p hone-related hardware will in validate any approval or warranty applying to the phone, and could also be dangerous. For availability of approved batter ies, chargers, and accessories, check with your dealer . • When the battery is fully charged, the indicator will tell you that the battery is f ully charged. • When you are not u sing a charger , disconnect it from th e power source. Do not leav e the battery connected to a ch arger for more than a week , since overcharging could shorten its lifespan. If left u nused, a fully charged battery will discharge itself over time. T emperature extremes ca n affect t he ability of your battery to charge. Therefore, allow it to cool down or warm u p before tr ying to charge it. When the battery is running out of power and your phone only has a few minutes of talk time remaining, a warning tone sou nds and the Batte ry low message appears briefly . Accid ental sho rt-circ uiting c an occu r when a metallic object, like a coin, a clip, or a pen causes a direct conn ection o f the and - term inals of the battery , which are metal strips on the end of the bat tery . An example of short-circuiting could occur if you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse, where the battery cou ld come in to contact with such objects as a coin. Short- circuiting could dam age either the battery or the con necting object. Leaving the bat tery in hot or cold places, su ch as in a c lo sed car in either summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery . Always tr y to keep th e battery between 15° C and 2 5° C ( 59° F an d 7 7° F) . A phone with a h ot or cold battery might not work temporarily , even if the battery is fully charged. The performance of Li-Ion batteries is particularly limited in tem peratures below 0° C (32° F). The following list p rovides guidelines th at you can foll ow: • When the operating tim e (talk time and standby time) is noticeably short er than no rmal, bu y a new batter y . • Use the battery only for its in tended purpose. • Never use an y charger or battery that is damaged and/or worn out. • Batteries mu st be recycled or disposed of pr operly . Do not dispose of batteries by putting them in fire! • When you disconnect the power cord of an y accessor y , grasp and pu ll the plug, n ot the cord.

18 [ 128 ] Certification Information THIS MO DE L PHO NE MEE TS THE GOVER NMENT ’S REQ U IREM ENTS FO R EXPOSURE T O RADIO WA VES. Y our wireless phone is a r adio transmitter and receiver . It is designed and manufactured not to exceed th e emission li mits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. G overnment. These limits are part o f comprehensive gu idelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines are based on standar ds that we re developed by in dependent scientific organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. The standards include a substantial safety margin designed to assure th e safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for wireless mobile ph ones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FC C is 1.6W/kg.* Tests for SAR are conducted u sing standard operating pos i tions accepted by the FCC with th e phone transmitting at its highest certified powe r level i n all tested f requency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified pow er level, the actual SAR level of the phone wh ile operating can be well be low the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to op erate at multiple power levels so as to use only th e power required to reach th e network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station an tenna, the lower the p ower ou tput. Before a phone mo del is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does not excee d the limit established by the governm ent-adopted requirement for safe ex posure. The tests are performed in posi tions and locations (for example, at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. The h ig hest SAR value for this model phone as reported to the FCC when tested for u se at the ear is 1.17 W/kg, and when w orn on the body , as described in this user guide, is 0.9 0 W/kg. (B ody-worn measuremen ts differ among ph one models, depending upon available accessories and FCC requireme nts.)

The FCC h as granted an Equipment Authorization f or this model phone with all repor ted SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guide lines. SAR in formation on this model ph one is on f ile with the FCC and can be f ound under the Display Grant section of http ://ww w .fcc. gov/ oet/ fccid after searching on FCC ID LJ P NPM -2NX . When carrying the phone while it is on, place the ph one in the specif ic carrying case that has bee n tested for compliance. Use of other access ories m ay not ensure compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines. *In the United States and Canada, the SAR li mit for m obile phones used by the public is 1 .6 watts/kg (W/kg) averaged over on e gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a substan tial margin of safety to give additional protection for the public and to accoun t for any variations in measurements.
