Your mobile phone is a radio transm itter and receiver. It is designed and manufac tured not to exceed the lim its for exposure to radiofrequency (RF) energy recommended by The Council of th e European Unio n. These limits are p art of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitt ed levels of RF energ y for the gener al population. The guidelines were developed by independent scientific organisations through perio dic and thorough evaluation of scien tific studies. The lim its include a su bstantial safety marg in designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for mobile phones emp loys a unit of measurement known as the Speci fic Abs orptio n Rate, or SAR. The SAR li mit re commen ded by Th e Counci l of the

All rights re served. 160 European Union is 2.0 W/kg.* Tests for SAR have been conducted using standard op erating positions with th e phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. A lthough the SA R is determined a t the highest certifie d power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while oper ating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the pho ne is designed to oper ate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a base station antenna, th e lower the p ower outp ut. Before a phone model is availabl e for sale to th e public, compliance with the Euro pean R&TTE directive m ust be shown. This di rective includes as one essential requireme nt the protection o f the health a nd the safety for the user a nd any other per son. The highest SAR value for this mod el phone when te sted for complianc e against the standar d was 0.62 W/kg. While there may b e differences b etween the SAR levels of various phones and at var ious positions, they all meet the EU requirements for RF exposure. * The SAR limit for mob ile phones used by th e public is 2.0 w atts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over ten grams of tissue. The limit incorp orates a substantial margin of safety to give additional pro tection for the public an d to account for any variat ions in measurements . SAR values may vary depending on nationa l reporting requir ements and the net work band. For SAR informatio n in other regions please look under product information at www .nokia.com.
