A new battery's ful l performance i s achieved only after t wo or three complet e charge and discha rge cycles! The battery can be ch arged and discharged h undreds of times but it will eventually wear ou t. When the ope rating time (talk-time and stand-by time) is noticeably shorter t han normal, it is tim e to buy a new ba ttery . When a charger is not in use, disconnect it from the power source. Do not leave the battery conn ected to a ch arger for longer th an a week, since overcharging may s horten its lif e. If left unused a fully charged battery will discharge itself over tim e. For good operation times, disc harge NiMH batteries from time to time by leaving y o ur ph one switched on until it turns itself off (or by using th e battery discha rge facility of any approved accessor y available for your phone). Do n ot attempt to discharge th e battery by any other means. T emperature extremes will affect the ability of your battery to charge: allow it to cool down or warm up f irst. Always try to keep t he battery be tween 59 ° F and 77 ° F (15 ° C and 25 ° C). A phone with a hot or cold battery may temporarily n ot work, even when the bat tery is fully charged. NiMH batteries performance is par ticularly limited in tem perature s below 14 ° F (-1 0 ° C ). Li-Ion batteries performance is particularly limited in temperatures below 32 ° F (0 ° C).
