These guideli n es were developed by t he independent scientific organization ICNIRP an d include safety m argins designed to assure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unit of measureme nt known as the Specific Absorption Rate o r SAR. The SAR limit stated in th e ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Tests for SA R are conduc ted using standar d operating positions with the device trans mitting at its highest ce rtified power level in all tested frequency band s. The actu al SA R level of an op eratin g device can be below t he ma ximum v alue b ecause the device is designed to use only the power required to reach the ne twork. That amoun t changes depending on a number of fac tors such as how close you are to a netw ork base station. The highest SAR value u nder the ICNIRP guidelines fo r use of the device at the ear is 0.85 W/kg. Use of device accessories and enhancements ma y result in different SAR values. SAR va lues may vary depending on national reportin g an d testing requirements and the network band. Additional SAR information may be pr ovided under produ ct information at www.n okia.com . Your mobile device is also designed to meet the requirements for exposure to radio waves established by th e Federal Commun ications Commi ssion (USA) and Industry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg averag ed over one gram of tissue. The highest SAR value r eported under this stand ard during produc t certif ication for us e at the ear i s 1.43 W/kg and when properly worn on the body is 0.75 W/kg. 2600_ENv1_9211380.fm Page 33 Thursday, August 7, 2008 2:47 PM
