Introd uction 5 1. Introduction With the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-7 02 you ca n make and receive calls while on the move and use your mobile device hands free. You can use the headset with compatible devices that support Bluetooth wireless technology. Read this user guide carefully before using the headset. Also read the user guide for your mobile device, which provides important safety and maintenance information. Keep the headset and its accessories out of reach of small children. â Bluetooth wireless technology Bluetooth wireless technology allows you to connect compatible devices without cables. A Bluetooth connection does not require that the mobile device and the headset be in line of sight, but the maximum distance between the devices is 1 0 meters (33 feet). The closer the mobile device and the headset are to each other , the better is the performance. The optimal operating range is shown in dark grey in the picture. The connection is subject to interference from distance and obstructions (shown in light grey ) or other electronic devices. <10m
Introd uction 6 The headset is compliant with the Bluetooth Specification 2.0 EDR supporting the following profiles: Headset Profile 1.1 and Hands-Free Profile 1.5. Check with the manufactu rers of other devices to determine their compatibility with this device. There may be restrictions on us ing Bluetooth technology in some locations. Get started â Overview The headset contains the following parts: ⢠Earpiece (1) ⢠Indicator light (2) ⢠Charger connector (3) ⢠V olume key (4) ⢠Microphone (5) ⢠Earloop (6) ⢠Multifunction key (7) Before you can start using the headset, you must charge the batte ry and pair the headset with a compatible device. P arts of the headset are magnetic. Meta llic mat erials may be attracted to the headset. Do not place credit cards or other magnetic storage media near the headset, because information stored on them may be erased. â Chargers and batteries Check the model number of any charger befo re using it with t his headset. The headset is intended for use with the AC-3, AC-4, and DC-4 chargers. 6 7
Get started 8 War n in g: Use only b atteries and chargers approved by Nokia for use with this particular enhancement. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or wa rranty , and may be dangerous. When you disconnect the power cord of an y enhancement, grasp and pul l the plug, not the cord. â Charge the battery The headset has an internal, nonremov able, rechargeable battery . Do not attempt to remove the battery from th e headset, as yo u may damage the headset. 1. Connect the charger to a wall outlet. 2. Connect the charger cable to the charger connector . The indicator light is red while charging. It may take a while before charging starts. If charging does not start, disconnect the charger, plug it in again, and retry. Charging the battery fully may take up to 2 hours. 3. When the battery is fully charged, the indicator light turns green. Disconnect the charger from the headset and the wall outlet. The fully charged battery has power for up to 6 hours of talk time or up to 160 hours of standby time. However , th e talk and standby times may vary when used with different compatible Bluetooth devices, usage settings, usage styles, and environments. When battery power is low , the headset beeps at regular intervals, and the indicator light flashes red.
Get started 9 â Switch the headset on or off To switch on, press and h old the multifunction key until the headset beeps and the indicator light turns on. When the headset tries to connect to a paired device, the indicator light flas hes green slowly . When the headset is connected to a paired device and is ready for use, the indicator light flashes blue slowly . If the headset has not been paired with a device, it automatically enters the pairing mo de (see âÂÂP air the headset,â p . 9). To switch off, press and hold the mult ifunction key for at least 5 seconds until the indicator light turns red. â P a ir the headset 1. Ensure that your mobile device is switched on. 2. To pair the headset if it has not been previously paired with a device, switch on the headset. The headset enters the pairing mode, and the indicator light starts to flash blue quickly . To pair the headset if it has be en previously paired with another device, ensure that the headset is switched off, and press and hold the multifunction key until the indicator lights starts to flash blue quickly . 3. Activate the Bluetooth feature on the mobile device, and set it to search for Bluetooth devices. See th e user guide of your device for instructions. 4. Select the headset (Nokia BH-7 02) from the list of found devices. 5. Enter the passcode 0000 to pair and connect the headset to your device. In some mobile devices, yo u may need to make the connection
Get started 10 separately after pairing. See the user guide of your device f or details. Y ou only need to pair the he adset with your device once. If the pairing is successful, the head set appears in the menu of the mobile device where you can view the cu rrently paired Bluetooth devices. Disconnect the headset To disconnect the headset from your mobile device, switch off the headset, or disconnect the headset in the Bluetooth menu of your devic e. Y ou do not need to delete the pairin g with the headset to disconnect it. Reconnect the headset To connect the headset to your mobile device, make the connection in the Bluetooth menu of your device; or sw itch on the headset, and press and hold the multifunction key for about 2 to 3 seconds until you hear a short beep. Y ou can set your device to connect with the headset automatically when the headset is switched on. To do this in Nokia devices, change your paired device settings in the Bluetooth menu. â Tr oubleshooting If you cannot connect the headset to your mobile device, do as follows: ⢠Ensure that the headset is charged, switched on, and paired with your device. ⢠Ensure that the Bluetooth feature is activated on your device.
Get started 11 ⢠Ensure that the headset is within 1 0 meters (33 feet) of your device and that there are no obstruct ions between the headset and the device, such as walls, or other electron ic devices.
Basic use 12 3. Basic use â Place the headset on the ear The headset is provided with an ear loop that you can use for a better fit on your ear . To use the headset with the earloop on the right ear , insert the earloop into the headset (1). Slide the earloop over your ear (2), and gently plug the earpiece into your ear . Push or pull the earloop to set its length. Set the headset so that it points toward your mouth (3). Basic use 13 â Call handling To make a call, use your mobile de vice in the normal way when the headset is connected to it. The blue indicator light flashes slowly during the call. If your device supports last number redialing with the headset, press the multifunction key twice when no call is in progress. If your device supports voice dialing with the headset, press and hold the multifunction key for about 2 to 3 seconds until the mobile device starts voice dialing, and proceed as describe d in the user guide of the device. V oice dialing cannot be used during a call. When you receive a call, the indicator light flashes blue quickly , and you hear a ringing tone through the headset. To answer the call, press the multifunction key , or use the keys of the mobile device. To reject an incoming call, press the mult ifunction key twice, or use the keys of the mobile device. To end a call, press the multifunction key , or use the keys of the mobile device. â Adjust the headset volume Press the volume key up to increase or down to decrease the volume during a call, or use the keys of th e mobile device. To adjust the volume quickly , press and hold the volume key in the desired direction.
Basic use 14 â Mute or unmute the microphone To mute or unmute the microphone during a call, use the respective function in your mobile device. â Switch the call betwee n headset and mobile device To switch the call between the head set and a connected mobile device, press and hold the multifunction key for about 2 to 3 seconds, or use the respective function in your device. â Clear settings or reset To clear all the pairing settings from the headset, press and hold the multifunction key and the volume key up until the indicator light alternates red, green, and blue twice. After the settings are cleared, the headset enters the pairing mode for about 5 minutes (the indicator light flashes blue quickly). To reset the headset if it stops funct ioning, although it is charged, plug the charger into the headset while you press and hold the multifunction key . The headse t switches off. To us e the headset, reconnect it to your mobile device. The reset does no t clear the headset settings.
Battery information 15 4. Battery information Y our device is powered by a rechargeable battery . The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it wi ll eventually wear out. Recharge your battery only with Nokia approved ch argers designated for this device. Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when not in use. Do not leave a fully charged battery connected to a charger , since overcharging may shorten its lifetime. If left unused, a fully charged battery will lose its charge over time. Never use any charger that is damaged. Leaving the device in hot or cold places, su ch as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifet ime of the battery. Always try to keep the battery between 15ðC and 25ðC (59ðF and 77ðF). A de vice with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily , even when the battery is fully charged. Battery performance is particularly limited in temperatures well below freezing. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode if damaged. Dispose of batteries according to local regulations. Please recycle when possible. Do not dispose as household waste.
