INTRODUCTI ON To obtain access to W A P serv ices ⢠you must be within the cov erage of a network w hich supports data calls, ⢠a data service must be activ ated for your SIM card, ⢠you must have obtained a W A P access point from a W AP service provider, and ⢠you must have entered the proper WAP settings. Before you can use the W A P services, you need to configure your WAP settings. Your W A P service provider will provide you w ith the exact values for the W A P settings. Follow the instructions carefully. You can use this information to define and edit the settings manually. Also, your service provider may be able to send some, or all, of the required se ttings to you via a special short message called an Over The Air (OTA) message. After you hav e received the settings, you can start usin g the W AP application o r edit the settings as described below . Note: The necessary settings for WAP configuration are provided by your WAP Service Provider. Depending on your service provider, you may not need to fill in all o f the setti ngs 2. W A P A CCESS POINTS 2.1 DEFINING WA P A CCESS POINTS To set up a new WAP access point, open Int ernet star tup under the Extras application, and select WAP access (a shortcut to Internet startup can also be found in the Desk application). 2/2 1. Open Inte rnet star tup from Desk or from under Extras. 2. Select WAP access and p ress Ope n. 3. Fill in the f ollow ing settings. Contact your WAP serv ice provider for the correct se ttings. ⢠Name - Create a name for the access point tha t you can recognise easily . ⢠Secure connection - Choose w hether to Use secure connec tion , according to your service provider's instructions. ⢠Interne t access â From a selection list, choose the Internet Access Point (IAP) you want to use for this connection. If you have no configured IAP's, you can c reate a new one by pressing New Internet acces s . ⢠Gateway IP address - Type in the IP address that the W AP gateway uses. 4. Press Close to ex it the WAP access poi nt set tings. 2.2 SETTING A HOME PA GE 1. Press the Internet button and open the W A P application. 2. Press the Menu key, and open the Setti ngs dialog under the Tools menu. 3. To activate the Home page tab, press the M enu but ton. 4. Type in the W A P home pa ge URL. 5.
