BA CKU P COPI ES Remember to make backup copies of all im portan t data. W A TER-RESI ST ANCE Y our Nokia Image F rame is not wa ter-res istant . K e ep it dry . Im port ant: Only use chargers in dry conditions . Never su pply power to the device with a charger when the device or charger or th eir parts a re damp or wet. If the d evice has been exposed to salt water , wipe it immediately with a cloth dampened with fresh w ater to avoid corrosion. The device must th en be carefully wip ed dry . Do not point the IR (infrared) beam at anyone's eye or allow it to interfere with other IR devices. This de vice is a Class 1 Laser product.
2 Introduction The Nokia Image Frame SU-4 is an enhancement product, which enables you to view the digital images taken or received by your Ir DA-enabled Nokia phone or other compatible devices. The Nokia Image Frame can communicate with other compatible devices via infrared (IR). Y ou can place the Nokia Image Fr ame on a table and view the ima ges either one- by-one or as a slide show . The Nokia Image Frame comes supplied with three pre-loaded images, and you can conveni ently add new images from a compatible device and delete old images. Read this u ser’ s guide care fully before using th e Nokia Image Frame. • P OWER SUPPLY Check the mod el number of any charger used to sup ply power bef ore us e with th is device. Th e Nokia Image Fra me is inten ded for use with the ACP-12 char ger . Wa r n i n g : Use only chargers approved by the manufacturer for use with this particular en hancem ent. The use of any oth er types will invalidate any approval or warranty applying to the enha nce ment, a nd may b e da nge rous. For availability of approved chargers, please check with your dealer . When you disconnect the power c o rd of any en hancement, grasp and pull the plu g, not the cor d.

The image resolution in these ma t erials may appear different. • Ope rat ing t empe rat ure: 32 o F to 1 04 o F (0 o C to 40 o C) • Compatibility: The Nokia I mage Frame SU-4 is compatible with phones and other devices that support image sending over infrared (IrDA). Note that if image sending cannot be activated f rom the phone (Ir DA Send feature) , the Nokia Image Fram e can pull the images from the compatible Nokia ph one when the phone’s IR connection has been activated. • IrDA standards: IrOBEX 1.3 receive/ s end, IrT ranP receive • Supported image format: J PEG and GIF (not animated GIF) • Supported im age size: max 1 0 2 4 * 768, up to 200 kB. Due to different te chniques of image processing, possibly up to 1 MB. • IMAG E FORM AT The Nokia Image Fr ame converts all the received im ages to JPEG form at with the 320x240 pixel resolution. If the resolution of t he received image diff ers from this resolution, the N okia Image Frame scales the image so that it fits optimally on the di splay . When you send im ages from the Nokia Image Frame, th ey are sen t with the JPEG format, since the Nokia Im age Fram e does not st ore the original formats of the received images. Y ou should th erefore remember to make backup copies of you r original images.
4 1O v e r v i e w The Nokia Image Frame has the following main parts: 1 Display 2 Inf rared ( IR) port 3 Control keys 4 T able su pport Y ou can us e the Nokia Image Frame through the control keys on top of the device. T he control keys are: 1 P ower on /off key 2 Show/Brightn ess key 3 Rotation key 4 Three-position switch : • Slide show mode • Image vie w mode • Edit mode 5 Up ke y 6 Down key 7 Mark ke y 8 IrDA k ey Ther e are th ree ways to press the keys. These are as follows: • Pre ss briefly - press a key for less than on e second • Pres s - press a key for at least one second • Pres s an d ho ld - press and hold down the key for at least three seconds
Over view 5 INDIC ATORS ON THE DISPL AY This indicator shows that the im age has been marked for viewing. The mem ory in the Nokia Image Frame is fu ll, 5 0 images are stored in the Nokia I mage Frame. I f the mem ory becomes f ull in the midd le of image tr ansfer , the rest of th e images are disc arded. The Nokia Image Frame is rotating the image 90 o clockwise. The Nokia Image Frame is switching to the next image. The Nokia Image Frame is s witching to the previous image. Confirms that the image has been successfully deleted. This indicator blinks when th e Nokia Image Frame attempts to establish th e IrDA connection. When the connection is established and the N okia Image Frame is sending or receiving an i mage, th e indicator is displayed continuously . Confirms that th e images have been successfully received or sent (the re ce iving device has confirmed the im ages as r eceived). The image is not supported by the Nokia I mage Fr ame. It is, for example, too large or not in the com patible format. An error occu rr ed dur ing t he i mag e tra nsfe r . This indicator shows h ow many images have been marked for viewing and h ow many images in total have bee n stored. Th e maximum number of stored images is 50. The progress bar is shown while the Nokia Image Frame processes the received images.
6 2 Getting starte d • SETTING UP TH E NOKIA IMAGE FRAME 1 Connect the char ger to an A C wall socket. 2 Connect the lead from the charger to the socket at the back of the Nokia Im age Frame (1). 3 Set the Nokia Image Frame on th e table with the con trol keys on the top. If m ost of your images a re in th e upright position, you can turn the Nokia Image Frame upright s o that the control keys are on the r ight side of the display . Y ou can turn the table support (2) at the back to change the angle of the Nokia I mage Frame display . • SWITC HING THE POWER ON AN D OFF Press to switch on the Nokia Im age Frame. Press to switch off the power . Unplug the Nokia I mage Fra me when not in u se.
Using the Nokia I mage Frame 7 3 Using the Nokia Image Fr ame • VIEWING THE IMAGES If the re is only on e image in the Nokia Image Fr ame, it is displayed when you switch on the power . If there is more than one image in the Nokia Image Frame, you can set the Nokia Image Frame to show just one image, or several images in r ot ation as a slide show . SETTING NOKIA IMAG E FRAME TO SHOW ONE IMAGE: 1 Slide th e three position switch to . 2 Press briefly or to scroll through the images and select the image you want to view . If you press an d hold or , the images scroll automatically at 3-second intervals. Y o u c an scroll through all the marked images. For more information about marking the images, see “Editing the images” on page 7. SETTING NOKIA IMAG E FRAME TO SHOW THE SLIDE SHOW: • Slide th e three position switch to . The Nokia I mage Frame displays all the marked images in rotation so that each image is s hown for 30 seconds at a time. For more info rmation about marking the images, see “Editing the images” on page 7. • EDITING THE IM AGES When th e power is switched on and the edit m ode activated, you can delete the images an d mark the images you want for viewing. DELETING IM AGES: Remember to make backup copies of you r images by , f or example, sending and saving them to another compatible device. 1 Slide th e three position switch to . 2 Press brief ly or until the N okia Image Frame displays the image you want to delete. 3 Press and hold and until the icon is di splayed.
8 MARKING THE IMA GES FOR VIEWING: 1 Slide the three position switch to . 2 Press briefly or to scroll the images. 3 If you want to be able to view an image, mark it by pressing briefly while the image is di splayed. The No kia Image Frame di splays the icon for all marked images. I f you want to unmar k an image, press briefly while the marked image is displayed. When the Nokia I mage Fra me receives n ew images , it autom atically marks them. If you do n ot want to vie w the new images, u nmark them as explained above. ROTAT ING IMAGES: Y ou can rotate the images both in the edit mode and when you are viewing the images. When the image you want to rotate is displayed, press to rotate the image 90 o clockwise. The Nokia Image Frame stores the or ie nta tion o f th e image, and the ne x t time the Nokia Image F rame displays the im age, it uses the new orientation . • SWITCHING THE SCREENSAVER ON AND OFF Y ou can activate the screensaver , if you want to turn off the display without t urning off the device. Press and hold to activate th e screensaver . Y ou can turn the display back on by pressing any control key . The Nokia Image Frame activates th e screensaver automatically if no keys have been pressed for up to 1 8 hours. • MODIFYING THE DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS When the power is switched on, you ca n modify the brightness of the display by pressing briefly . There are five brightness levels, and each time you pr ess , the level is raised by one. W hen the highe st brightness level is used a n d you press , the Nokia Image Fra me returns to the lowest brightness level.
Using the Nokia I mage Frame 9 • SENDING AN IMAGE FROM T HE NOKIA IMAGE FRAME When th e power is switche d on, select the image you want to send on the display of th e Nokia Image Frame. 1 If nee ded, activate the I R port of the device to whi c h you want to send an image . 2 Direct the IR ports of the Nokia Image Fr ame and the r eceiving compatible device toward each other , and ensure that there are no obstructions betwee n the devices. T he maximum allowe d distance is up to 4.9 ft (1.5 m) an d the transmission angle 15 o . 3 Press and to send the image. T he icon bl inks while the N okia Image Frame attempts to establish a connection to t he receiving de vice. During the im age transfer the icon stops blinking. When the image is successfully sent, th e Nokia Image Frame displays the icon. • RECEIVING IMAGES WITH THE NOKIA IMAGE FRAME When th e power is switched on, the N okia Ima ge Fra me can receive im ages. No te that the No kia Image F r am e converts the received images to display t hem. For more in formation, see “Imag e format” on page 3 . The image receivin g procedure differs depe nding on the sending device. If the sending device can send images over IR , you can sen d the selected images from the device while th e Nokia Im age Frame is in the passive IR re ception mode. If im age sendin g cannot be acti vated fro m the sendin g device, the N okia Image Frame can pull all the images from the sending device’ s default image folder using the ac tive IR reception mode. RECE IVIN G IMA GES OVER IR : 1 If you w ant the images in the Nokia Image Frame to be in a certain order , press briefly or to scroll to the image after whi c h you want to store th e new images.
10 2 Direct the IR ports of the N o kia Image Frame and the compatible sending device tow ard each other , and ensure that there are no obstructions between the devices. The maximum allowed distance is up to 4.9 f t (1.5 m) and the tran smission angle 15 o . 3 When the se nding device starts to send the image s, the Nokia Image Frame enters the passive IR reception mode and d isplays th e icon. For m ore information on how to initiate sendin g from the other device, refer to the user’s guide of that device. 4 Dur ing the imag e tra nsf er , the N oki a Im age Fr am e dis pla ys th e icon and the received images one by one. 5 After the ima ges have been recei ved, the Nokia Image Frame retu rns to the previous mode, and the images are stored as the next images after t he currently displayed image. If you w ant to edit the new images, see “Editing the image s” on page 7. PULL ING IMA GES OVE R IR: The Nokia Im age Frame pulls all th e images from the im age source device’s default directory . The m aximum number of images in the Nokia Image Frame is 5 0. If this limit is reached during the image transfer , the transfer is disconnected so that only 50 images in total ar e stored to the Nokia Im age Frame. 1 If you want th e images in the Nokia Im age Frame to be in a certain order , press briefly or to scroll to the i mage after w hich you want to store th e new images. 2 Direct the IR ports of the N o kia Image Frame and the compatible image source device towar d each other , and ensure t hat the re are no obstructions between the devices. Th e maximum allowed distance is up t o 4.9 ft (1.5 m) and the transmission angle 15 o . 3 Activate the image s o urce device’ s IR connection. For more information on how to do this, r efer to the user’ s guide of that device.
Using the Nokia I mage Frame 11 4 Press to enter the active IR re ception mode. The Nokia Image Frame displays the icon. 5 Durin g the ima ge transfe r , th e Nokia Im age Frame d isplays the icon and the received images on e by one. 6 After all the images have been re ceived, the Nokia Image Frame return s to the previous mode, and the images are stored as the n ext images after the cu rrently displayed image. 12 Care and maintenance Y our Nokia Image Frame SU-4 is a product of superior design and craftsmanship and should be tr eated with care. The suggestions below wi ll help you to fulfil any warranty obligations and to en joy this product for many years. • K eep all e nhancements out of the reach of sm all children. • K eep Nokia Image Frame dry . Precipitation, h umidity and all types of liquids or moisture can contain minerals that w ill corrode electronic circuits. • Do not use or store Nokia I mage Frame in dusty , dirty areas. Its moving parts can be damaged. • Do not sto re Nokia Image Frame in hot areas. High temperatures c an shorten the life of electronic d evices, damage batteries, and warp or melt certain plastics. • Do not store Nokia Image Frame in cold areas. When it warms up (to its normal temper ature), moisture can form inside, which may damage electronic circuit boards. • Do not attempt to open Nokia Image Fra me. Non- expert handling may damage it. • Do not drop, knock or shake Nokia Image Fr ame. Rough h andling can break internal circuit boards. • Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean Nokia Image Fram e. • Do not paint Nokia I mage Frame. P aint can clog th e moving parts and prevent proper ope ration. If N okia Image Frame is not w orking properly , take it to you r nearest qualified service facility . The personnel t her e will assist you and, if ne cessa ry , a rra nge for serv ice. For environmentally sound recycling; contact your local Nokia service point or che ck local regulations for correct disposal o f household electronics.
13 Nokia One-Y ear Limited W arranty Nokia Inc. (“Nokia”) warran ts that th is cellular phone (“Product”) is free from defects in m aterial and workmanship that result in Product failure during nor mal usage, according to the f ollowing terms and con ditions: 1. The lim ited warranty for the Product exten ds for ONE (1) year beginning on the date of the purchase of the Pr oduct. This one year period is extended by each whole day that the Pr oduct is out of your possession for repair under this warranty . 2. The lim ited warranty extends on ly to the original purchaser (“Consumer”) of the Product and is not assignable or transferable to any su bsequent purchaser/end-user . 3. The limited w arranty extends only to Consu mers who purchase the Product in the U nited States of America. 4. During the limited warranty period, Nokia will repair , or replace, at Nokia’s sole option, any defective parts, or any parts that will not properly ope rate for their intended use w ith new or r efurbished replacement items if such repair or replacement is neede d because of product malfunction or f ailure during no rmal usage. No charge will be made to the Consumer for an y such parts. Nokia will also pay for th e la bor c harg es in cu rre d by No kia in rep air in g or rep la cin g the de fec tive parts. The limited warranty does n ot cover defects in appearance, cosmetic, decorative or structural items, including framing, and any non-operative parts. Nokia’s limit of liability under the limited warranty shall be the actual cash va lue of the Product at the time the Consumer returns the Product for repair , determine d by the price paid by the Consumer for the Pr oduct less a reasonable amount for usage. Nokia shall not be liable for any other losses or damages. These remedies are the Consumer’s exclusive remedies for breach of warranty . 5. Upon request from Nokia, the Consumer must prove the date of the original purchase of the Product by a dated bill of sale or dated itemized r eceipt.
14 6. The Consumer shall bear the cost of shippin g the Product to Nokia in Melbourne, Florida. N okia shall bear the cost of shipping the Product back to the Consumer after th e completion of service under this limited warranty . 7. The Consumer shall have no coverage or benefits un de r this limited warranty if any of th e following conditions are applicable: a) The Product h as been subjected to abnormal use, abnormal cond itions, im proper stor age, expo sure to moistur e or dampness, unauthorized modifications, un auth oriz ed connections, unauth orized repair , misuse, negl ect, abuse, accident, alte ration, improper installation, or other acts wh ich are not the f ault of Nokia, including d amage caused by shipping. b) The Product h as been damaged from e xternal causes such as collision with an o bject, or fr om fire, floodin g, sand, dirt, windstorm, lightning, earthqu ake or damage from exposure to weather conditions, an Act of God, or battery leakage, theft, blown fuse, or improper use of any electrical source, damage caused by com put er or internet viruses, bugs, worms, Trojan Horses, cancelbots or damage caused by t he co nn e ction to other products not recommended for interconnection by Nokia. c) Nokia was not advised in wri ting by th e Co nsumer o f the al leged defect or malfunction of th e Product within fourteen (14) days after the expiration of the applicable limited war ranty period. d) The Product serial number plate or the enhancement data code has been removed, defaced or altered. e) The def ect or damage was caused by the defective function of the cellular system or by inadequate signal reception by th e externa l antenna , or viru ses or othe r soft ware probl ems introd uced into the Pr oduct. 8. Nokia does n ot warra nt uninterru pted or error -free oper ation of the Prod uct. If a probl em dev elops duri ng the limite d warrant y period, the C onsumer shall take the follow ing step-b y-step pro cedure : a) The Consumer shall return the Product to the place of purchase for repair or replacement processing.
15 b) If “ a” is not conve nient because of distan ce (more t han 50 miles) or for other good cause, the Consumer shall ship the Product prepaid and insured to: Nokia Inc., Attn: Repair De partment 795 W est Nasa B lvd. Melbourne, FL 3290 1 c) The Con sumer shall include a return address, daytime phone numb er and/or fax nu mber , complete de scripti on of the prob lem, proof of purchase and service agreement (if applicable). Expenses related to removing the Product from an installation are not cover ed under this limited w arranty . d) The Con s u mer will be bille d for any parts or labor charges not covered by this lim ited warranty . The Consumer will be resp onsible for any expen ses related to reinstallation of the Product. e) Nokia will repair the Product under the limited warranty within 30 days after receipt of the Pr oduct. If N ok i a cannot perform repairs covered u nder this limited warranty within 30 days, or after a reasonable number of attempt s to repair the same def ect, Nokia at its option , will provide a replacement Product or refund th e purchase price of the Product less a reasonable amou nt fo r usag e. In so me state s th e Cons umer may ha ve th e right to a loaner if the repair of th e Product takes more than ten (1 0) days. Please contact the Customer Service Ce nter at Nokia at the te lephone number listed a t the end of th is warranty if you need a loaner and the repair of the Product has taken or is estimated to take more than te n (1 0 ) days. f) If the Product is returned du ring the limited warranty period, but the proble m with the Product i s not cove red unde r the ter ms and conditions of this limited warranty , the Consumer will be notified and given an estimate of the charges the Consumer must pay to have the Product rep aired, wit h all shippin g c harges billed to the Consumer . If the estimate is refused, the Product will be returned freight collect. If the Product is retur ned af te r the e xpiration of the lim ited warranty per iod, Nokia’ s no rmal service policies shall a pply and the Consumer will be re sponsible for all shippin g charges.

The used components com ply with Product performance and reliability specifications. 1 0 .
