Int rodu ction 6 Intro duction The Nokia Image Frame SU-7 is an enhancement product, which enables you to view the digital images ta ken or received by your IrDA- enabled Nokia phone or oth er compatible devices. Y ou can connect th e Nokia Image Frame to the devices u sing its infrared (IR) port. If you insert a SIM card to the Nokia Image Fr ame, you can als o receive ne w images as MMS m essages. Y ou can place the Nokia Image Frame on a table and view the images either on e-by-one or as a slide show . The Nokia Image Fram e comes supplied with three p re-loaded images, and you can conveniently add new images from a compatible device and delete old images. Read this user’ s guide carefully before u sing the Nokia Image Frame. ■ P owe r supply Check the m odel number of any charger u sed to supply power before use with this device. The Nokia Image Fram e is inten ded for use with the ACW-5 A charger . War ni n g! Use on ly chargers approved by the manufacturer f or us e wi th th is par ti cula r en ha nce m en t. The us e of any o the r types will invalidate any approval or warrant y applying to the enhancement, an d may be dangerous. For avai lability of approved charger s, please check with you r dealer . Introduction 7 Engl ish • Operating temperature: 0 o C to 40 o C • Compatibility: The Nokia Image Frame SU-7 is com pa tible w ith phones an d other devices tha t support imag e sending over infrared (IrDA). Note that if image sending can not be activated f rom the phone (IrDA Send feature), the Nokia Image Frame can pull the images from th e compatible Nokia phone when the phone’ s IR connection has been activated. The Nokia Ima ge Frame can also receive images over MMS from most MMS-enabled phone s. • IrDA standards: IrOBEX 1.3 receive/send, IrTr anP r eceive • Supported image format: JPEG and GIF (n ot animated G IF) • Supported image size: max 1 0 24 x 7 68, up to 200 kB . Due to different techniqu es of image pr ocessing, even up to 1 MB. ■ Image format The Nokia Image Fra me converts all the received images to JPEG format with the 320 x 240 pixel resolution. If the resolution of the received image differs from th is resolution, th e Nokia Image Fr ame scales the image so that it fits optimally on the display . When you send im ages from th e Nokia Image Frame, they a re sent with the JPEG for mat, since the Nokia Image Frame does not store the original formats of the received im ages. Y ou should therefore remember to make backup copies of your original images.     !"

These are as follows: • Pre ss brie fly - press a key for less tha n one second • Press - press a ke y for at least one secon d • Pre ss a nd hol d - press and h old down the key f or at leas t three seconds In dica tors on the disp lay This indicator shows that the image has been marked for viewing. Th e memory in the Nokia Image Fram e is full, 50 images are stored in the Nokia Image Fra me. If the memory becomes ful l in the middle of image transfer , the rest of the images are discarded. The Nokia Image Frame is rotating the image 90 o clockwise. The Nokia Image Frame is s witching to th e next ima ge. The Nokia I mage Frame is switching to the previous image. Confirms that the image h as been successfully deleted.  &   !"
Over view 10 This indicator blinks when the Nokia I mage Frame attempts to establish the Ir DA connection. W hen the connection i s established and the Nokia Image Frame is sending or receiving an image, the indicator is displa yed continuously . Confirms that the images have been successfully received or sent (the receivin g device has confirmed the images as rece ived) . The image is not supported by the Nokia Image Frame. It is, for example, too large or not in the compatible format. An error occurr ed during the image transfer . This indicator blin ks when the Nokia Image Frame is downloading an incoming MMS messa ge. W hen the message has been stored to the Nokia Image Frame, the indicator is displayed continuously until you check the messa ge and either accept it or delete it. The network connection has been esta blished. When the connection has not been established, there is a / mark acro ss the i con. GPRS service is available. When the service is not a vailable, there is a / mark across the icon. This indicator sh ows how many ima ges have been marked for viewin g and how ma ny images in total have been store d. The max imum nu mber of stored ima ges is 50. The progress bar is shown while the Nokia Image Frame processes the received images.     !"

T o avoid damage to the SIM card, do not install, move or remove the SIM car d if the power supply is con nected to an AC wall outlet. 1. If you want to be able to r eceive images over MMS, you have to insert a SIM car d into th e Nokia Im age Fram e. 1. With the di splay of the Nokia Image Frame facing you, detach the cover on the back of the Nokia Image Fram e by push ing it down forwar d. 2. Insert the SI M card to the SI M card holder so that the contact surface of the SIM c ard is up an d the bevelled corner of the card is on the r ight and facing away from you . 3. Put the cover ba ck on the Nokia Image Fram e.     !"
Getting started 12 2. Connect the lead from the char ger to the socket at the back of the N oki a Image Fr ame (1 ). 3. Connect the charger to an AC wall socket. 4. Set the N okia Image Frame on the table with th e control keys on the top. If most of yo ur im age s are in the upright position, you can turn the Nokia Image Frame upright so that the control keys are on the r ight side of th e display . Note: All ra dio transmitting devices s end signals that may cause interferen ce in different electronic devices (PC, television, etc.). T o avoid in terference, place the Image Frame far enough from other electronic devices. Y ou can turn th e table support at the back to change the position angle of the N okia Image Fr ame (2). ■ Switching the power on and off Press to switch on the Nokia Image Fram e. Note that if the SIM card is inserted and you switch the Image Frame on, the Image Frame automatically connects to the mobile network. Do not switch the Image F rame on when the SIM ca rd is in serted, if the use of mobile devices (such as mobile phones) is prohibited. Press to switch of f the power . Note that if the SIM card is full, it can take up to a minute before the Nokia Image Frame tur ns on an d s hows the firs t image . Getting started 13 Engl ish ■ K eying in the PIN code If the PIN query is activated on the SIM ca rd, the Nokia Image Frame displays the PIN qu ery when the power is switch ed on. Note : If you want to deactivate the PI N query , insert th e SIM card to your phone and deactivate the PIN q uery as instructed in your phone’ s user guide. 1. Press briefly or until th e correct first number of the PIN code is highlighted. 2. Pre s s briefly to select the number . The * char acter appear s on the displa y to indicate that the f irst numb er ha s bee n sel ect ed. 3. Select the rest of the numbers as in steps 1 and 2. 4. If the PIN code is correct, the Nokia Image Frame displays the icon. If the PIN code is in correct, the icon is displa yed, and you have to key in the PIN code a gain. ■ Configuring the MMS settings If the MMS settin gs are preloaded to the Nokia Image Frame, you can skip this section u nless you want to reconfigure the MMS settin gs. Check with your dealer if the MM S settings have been preloaded. If th e settings are no t preloaded and you want to receive images over MM S, you can con figure the MMS sett ings by an over-the-air (O T A) message or S MS messages, as explained further bel ow . Note that many operators also offer a we b-bas ed OT A ser vice for MMS settings. Check w ith your operator if this service is available. If the configuration s ucceeds, the Nokia Image Fr ame displays the icon. If the con figuration fails, the icon is displayed, and you have to send the con figuration messages again .     !"
Getting started 14 O T A message Y ou can configure th e MMS sett ings by an O T A message if you r operator of fers th at serv ice . Not e: Before r eceiving the settings, set the Nokia Image Frame to the edit mode by slidin g the three-position switch to . Send a text message 9 1 <serv ice_number> <operator_ specific_text> from your mobile phone to th e phone n umber of th e SIM card you inserted to the Nokia Image Frame. For example, 9 1 1234 5 mms . For the exact con tent of the message, co ntact your operator . The N okia Image Fram e u ses th at me ssage to se nd an other mess age to the operator’s O TA service. When the Nokia Im age Frame receives a reply containing the settin gs, it stor es them a utomatically . SMS mess ages If your operator does n ot offer the O TA service, you can send the settings to the Nokia Image Frame yourself using SMS m essa ges. Note : Before sending the settings, set th e Nokia Image Fram e to the edit mode by slidin g the three-position switch to . Y ou have to send the SM S commands listed below to the phone number of the SIM card you inserted to the Nokia Image Frame. For the exa ct values needed in th e commands, con tact your service provider . • 3 1 < acce ss_p oi nt_na me> Command for setting the G PRS access point name. • 32 <URL_ address> Command for settin g the MM S Center a ddress. • 41 < u s e r n a m e > Command for setting the user name for the MMS connection. • 42 <pass word> Comm and fo r set tin g the pa ssw ord fo r the MM S con ne cti on. • 33 <IP_a ddress > Command for setting the gateway IP address.  #   !"

The method is normal (1) or secure (2). • 46 <1_o r_2> Command for settin g the session mode. The mode is temporary (1 ) or perman ent (2). • 22 <on_o r_off> Command for activating or disactivating th e PIN query . • 99 Command for restoring the factory settings. T he Nokia Image Frame has no MMS settin gs by default. • 9 Command f or checking the cu rrent setting s. The Nokia I mage Fra me sends back t he settings to the number from where the command was sent . Y ou can either send the commands one by one, or combine several commands in one mes sage. If you combin e the comm ands, you h ave to separ ate each command with a comma (no spaces ). For exampl e, 31 AP N1,43 on,44 1 . If you send an y erroneou s commands, you can send them again with the correct values. If the settings ar e correct but the Nokia Image Frame is not receiving im ages over MMS, contact your ope rator for troubleshooting.      !"
Usi ng th e Nokia I mage Frame 16 3. Using the Nokia Image Frame ■ Viewing the images If there is only one image in the Nokia Image Frame, it is displayed when you switch on th e power . If there is more th an one ima ge in the Nokia Image Frame, you can set the Nokia Image Frame to show just one image, or several images in rotat ion as a slide show . Set ting Noki a Image Fr ame t o show on e i mage: 1. Slide the three position switch to . 2. Press briefly or to scr oll through the images a nd sele ct the image you wa nt to view . If you press a nd hold or , the images scroll autom atically at 3 -second intervals. Y ou can scroll through all th e marked images. For m ore information about marking the im ages, see ” Editing the image s” on page 16. Sett ing Nokia Im age Frame to show the slid e show: • Slide t he three position switch to . The Nokia Im age Frame displays all the marked images in rotation s o that each image is shown f or 30 secon ds at a time. For more information about ma rking the images, see ”Editing the images” on page 16. ■ Editing the i mages When the pow er is switched o n and the e dit mode activated, you can delete th e images and mark th e images you want for viewing. Del eti ng im ages: Remember to make backup copies of your images by , for example, sending and savin g them to a nother compatible device. 1. Slide the three position switch to . 2. Press briefly or un til the Nokia Image Frame displays the image you wa nt to delete. 3. Usin g t he N o ki a Imag e Fra me 17 Engl ish Marking the ima ges for viewi ng: 1. Slide the three position switch to . 2. Press briefly or to s croll the images. 3. If you want to be able to vie w an image, mark it by pressing briefly while the im age is displayed. The Nokia Imag e Frame displays the icon for all m arked images. If you wan t to unmark an image, press briefly while the marked image is displayed. When the Nokia I mage Frame receives new images, it automatically mark s them. If you do not want to view the new images, un mark them as explained above. Rota ting im age s: Y ou can rotate the images both in the edit mode and when you a re viewing the images. When the image you want to r otate is displayed, pr ess to rotate th e image 90 o clockwise. The Nokia Image F rame stores the orientation of the image, an d the next time the Nokia Image Frame dis plays the image, it uses the new orientation . ■ Switching the screensaver on and off Y ou can activa te the scr eensaver , if y ou want to tu rn of f the dis play without turning o ff the device. Press and hold to activate the scre e ns ave r . If th er e ar e un ch eck ed MMS i ma ges in the Nok ia Ima ge Frame, the icon continu es to be displayed even when the screensaver is activated. If a new MMS image is downloaded while the screensaver is on , the icon appears on th e screen. Y ou can turn the display back on by pres sing any control key . The Nokia Im age Frame activates the screensav er automatically if no keys have been pressed for 18 hours.     !"
Usi ng th e Nokia I mage Frame 18 ■ Modifying the display brightness When th e power is switched o n, you can modify the br ightness of the display by pr essing briefly . There are five brightness levels, and each time you press , the le vel is raised by one. When the highest brightness level is us ed and you press , the Nokia Image Fram e returns to the low est brightness level. ■ Sending an i mage from the Nokia Image Frame When the power is switched o n, select th e ima ge you w ant to s end on the display of th e Nokia Image Frame. 1. If needed, activate the IR port of the device to which you want to se nd an im age . 2. Direct the IR ports of the Nokia Image Frame and the r eceiving compatible device toward each other , and ensure that there are no obstructions between the devices. The m aximum allowed distance is up to 1.5 m a nd the tran smission an gle 15 o . 3. Press and to sen d the image. The icon blinks wh ile the Nokia Image Frame attempts to establish a connection to the receiving device. During the image tr ansfer the icon stops blinking. When th e image is successf ully sent , the Nokia Im age Frame displays the icon. ■ Receiving images with the Nokia Image Frame When the power is switched o n, the Nokia I mage Frame can re ceive images. Note that the Nokia Image Frame converts the receive d images to display t hem. For more inf ormation, see ” Image format” on page 7. The image receiving procedure differs depending on the sending device. If the sending device can send images over IR, you can send the selected images from the device wh ile the Nokia Image Frame is in the passive IR reception mode. If image sending cannot be a ctivated from the sending device, th e Nokia Image Frame can pull all the images fr om the sending device’s default image folder using the active IR reception mode.  %   !"

The maxim um allowed distance is up to 1.5 m an d the tr ansmission an gle 15 o . 3. When the sending device starts to send the images, th e Nokia Image Frame enters the passive IR reception mode and displays the icon. For more information on how to initiate sending from th e other device, refe r to the us er’ s guide of that device. 4. During the image transfer , the Nokia Image Frame displays the icon and the received images one by one. 5. After the images have been rece ived, the Nokia Image Frame returns to the p revious mode, and the i mages are stored as the next images after the c urrently displayed i mage. If you want to edit the new im ages, see ”Editing the images” on page 16. Pu lling ima ges ov er IR: The Nokia I mage Fram e pu lls all the images from the image source device’ s default directory . The m aximum number of im ages in the N okia Image Frame is 50. If this limit is reached during the image transfer , the transfer is dis connected so that only 5 0 images in tota l are stored to the N oki a Imag e Fr ame . 1. If you want the images in the No kia Image Frame to be in a certain order , press briefly or to scr oll to the image a fter which you want to store the n ew images. 2. Dire ct the IR ports of th e Nokia Im age Frame and th e compatible image source device tow ard each other , and ensure that there are no obstructions between th e devices. Usi ng th e Nokia I mage Frame 20 3. Activate the image source device’ s IR con nection. For more information on how to do this, refer to the u ser’ s guide of that device. 4. Press to enter the active IR reception mode. The Nokia Image Frame displays the icon. 5. During the ima ge transfer , the Nokia Image Fra me displays the icon and the r eceived images one by one. 6. After a ll the ima ges have bee n rece ived, the Nokia Image Frame return s to the previous mode, and the imag es are stored as the next images after the cu rrently displayed image. If you want to edit the n ew images, see ”E diting the images” on page 16. ■ Receiving images over MMS with the Nokia Image Frame Note : Y our Nokia Im age Frame m ust be con nected to the mobile network to use th is function. Do no t connect the Nokia Image Frame to the mobile network when wireless p hone use is prohibited or when it may cause interference or danger . When the pow er is switched on and the Nokia Image F rame is connected to the mobile network, it can receive images over MMS. Note th at the Nokia Image Fram e converts the received images to display them. For more information, see ”Image format” on page 7. If th e incoming MMS message contain s sound or text, on ly the image is stored. The incoming ima ge makes the Nokia Imag e Frame enter the MMS reception mode an d display the icon . While th e image is downloaded, the icon blinks and the image on the displa y does not change even if th e Nokia Image Fr ame is in th e slide show mode. When the download is finished, the icon stops blinking. If you turn the power off from the Nokia Image Fram e during the image download, all the incompletely downloaded images are discarded. The downloaded image is not displayed before you ch eck the image. The icon is di splayed until you have checked and accepted or deleted the image. If more than one image has been downloaded, th e number of downloaded i mages is shown next to the icon.     !"

If you want the images in the No kia Image Frame to be in a certain order , press briefly or to scr oll to the image a fter which you want to store the n ew images. 2. Pre s s briefly to view the oldest u nchecked image in the memory . If the phone number of the sender is known, it is displayed on the screen with the downloaded image. 3. If you want to store the image, press briefly . The image is stored as the n ext image after th e previously displayed im age. The phone numb er is not stored . If you w ant to delete the image immediately , pr ess and hold and until th e icon is displayed.     !"

Precipitation, humidity and all types of liquids or mois ture ca n con tain min erals tha t wi ll corrode e lectronic circuits . • Do not use or store Nokia I mage Frame in dusty , dirty areas. Its moving parts can be damaged. • Do no t store Nokia Image Frame in hot areas. High t emperatu res can s horte n the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and warp or melt certain plastics. • Do no t store Nokia Image Frame in col d areas.
