Potentially explosive environments Switch off your device in any area with a potent ially explosive atmos phere, for example near gas pumps at service s tations. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosio n or fire resulting in bodily injury or death. Observe r estrictions in fuel service stations, storage, and dist ribution areas; chemical plants; o r where blasting operations are i n progress. Areas with a potentia ll y explosive atmosphere are o ften, but not always , clearly ma rked. They include areas where you would be advised to turn off your vehicle engine, below deck on boats, chemical t ransfer or storage facili ties and where the air conta ins chemicals or parti cles such as grain, dust, or metal powders. Certification informa tion (SAR) This mobile device meets guidelines for exposure to ra dio waves. Your mobile devi ce is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not t o exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves recommended b y international g uidelines. Thes e guidelines were developed b y the i ndepend ent scien tific orga nisatio n ICNIR P and include safety margins designed to assur e the prot ectio n of all person s, regardless of age and hea lth. The exposure guidel ines for mobile devices employ a unit of me asurement known as the Specific Absorption Rat e or SAR. The SAR limit stated i n the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Tests f or SAR are conducted using standa rd operating positions wit h the device tr ansmitting at its highest certified power level in all te sted frequency band s. The actual SAR level of an operati ng device can be below the maxim um value because t he device is desi gned to use only the power required t o reach the network. That amount changes depending on a number of factors such as ho w close you are to a network base station. The highest SA R value under t he ICNIRP guid elines for us e of the device at the ear is 1.00 W/k g. Use of device accessori es may result in differe nt SAR values. SAR values m ay vary depending on national r eporting and testing requirements and th e network band. Additional SAR information may be provid ed under product information at www.nokia.com. 42 Product and safety information
