2 Inser t 6 x 1.5V R14/UM-2/C-cell batter ies with cor rect polarity ( /-) as indicated. 3 Close the batter y compar tment. Tip If y ou want to sa ve batter y life , use the supplied pow er cord. • Connect A C pow er W arning Risk of product damage! Ensure that the pow er supply voltage corresponds to the voltage • pr inted on the back or the under side of the product. Risk of electr ic shock! When y ou unplug the A C adaptor , always pull the plug from the sock et. • Never pull the cord. Note Install the unit near the pow er supply socket and where the A C pow er plug can be easily • reached. 1 Connect the pow er cord to the A C MAINS~ socket on the CD Soundmachine and to the pow er supply socket. T o switch the CD Soundmachine off completely , disconnect the pow er cord from the • pow er supply socket. Tip T o sav e ener gy: After use , set the source selector to • OFF . T o tur n off the CD Soundmachine , disconnect the plug from the pow er supply socket.
4 Use y our CD Soundmachine Pla y a CD Note Y ou cannot play CDs encoded with cop yr ight protection technologies. • Y ou can play commercially a vailable audio CDs: CD-Recordables (CD-R) • CD-Rewr itab les (CD-RW) • MP3-CDs • 1 Switch the source selector to CD . 2 Lift the lid of the CD compar tment. 3 Inser t a CD with the pr inted side facing up . 4 Close the CD lid gently . The total number of tracks is display ed. » 5 Press to star t play . » [ ] is display ed. T o pause CD play , press • . T o resume CD play , press • again. T o stop CD play , press • . Select a track 1 Dur ing pla y , press / to select a tr ack. Select an album For MP3-CDs only . 1 Dur ing pla y , press ALBUM /- to select an album.
Find a passage within a track 1 Dur ing pla y , press and hold / . The CD is play ed at high speed and with reduced volume. » 2 Release / to resume nor mal pla y . Tip When search reaches the end of the last tr ack, the CD stops. • Select pla y modes Repeat pla y Y ou can repeat a tr ack, an MP3 album, a disc , or a progr am. • [ ] – plays the current tr ack continuously • [ ALB] – plays the current album continuousl y • [ ALL] – repeats the entire CD/progr am 1 Dur ing pla y , press MODE repeatedly until the display sho ws the repeat icon. Repeat one tr ack. • Repeat an album. • Repeat a progr am. • T o stop repeat play , press • MODE repeatedly until the repeat icon is no longer displa yed. Shuf fl e pla y Y ou can play all tr acks in random order .

Pr ogram pla y sequence Y ou can store up to 20 tr acks in the desired sequence . 1 In stop mode , press PR OG to star t to progr am pla y sequence . » [PR OG] and [P01] are display ed. 2 Press ALBUM /- to select an album. This step is only applicab le for MP3-CDs. 3 Press / to select a tr ack. 4 Press PR OG to store the tr ack. » [PR OG] and [P02] are display ed. 5 Repeat steps 2 to 4 to select and store all tr acks. When all 20 tr acks are stored, no more tr acks can be selected and the displa y shows » [PR OG] and [ --- ] . 6 T o play progr am, press . In stop mode , press • PR OG repeatedly to bro wse stored tr acks. T o cancel progr am, press • twice . Tip When progr am pla y stops, the CD Soundmachine retur ns to normal play . T o play program • again, repeat steps 1 to 6. Listen to radio 1 Switch the source selector to TUNER . 2 Switch B AND to FM or MW . 3 Tu r n TUNING /- to fi nd a station.
Tip T o improv e FM reception, you can extend, incline or tur n the telescopic antenna for best • reception. No pow er Ensure that the pow er cord is connected securely . • Ensure that there is pow er at the pow er supply socket. • Ensure that the batter ies are installed correctly . • No sound Adjust the volume. • Ensure that the tr ack pla yed is of a compatib le format. • Displa y does not function properl y ./No r eaction to operation of an y of the controls. 1 Disconnect the A C pow er cord. 2 Connect the A C pow er cord after a few seconds. Cannot pla y disc Ensure that the disc label is inser ted with the pr inted side facing up . • Wipe the disc with fi bre cleaning cloth from the centre to the edge in a str aight line . • This disc may be def ective . Pla y another disc . • Ensure that the CD is a fi nalised CD/CD-R/CD-RW . • Ensure that the laser lens is clean. • Ensure that the CD is not encoded with cop yr ight protection technologies. • The CD skips tracks
