How ever , if y our car has different requirements, make the corresponding adjustment. If y ou hav e any questions regarding installation kits, consult your Philips car audio dealer . Caution This unit is designed for negative ground (ear th) 12 V DC operation only . Always install this unit in the car dashboard. Other locations can be dangerous as the rear of the unit heats up during use . T o av oid shor t-circuit: before you connect, ensure that the ignition is off. Ensure that you connect the y ellow and red pow er supply leads after all other leads are connected. Ensure that all loose leads are insulated with electrical tape . Ensure that the leads do not get caught under screws orin par ts that will mov e (e .g. seat rail). Ensure that all ground (ear th) leads are r un to a common ground (ear th) point. 12 Connector Connect to 1 Black wire A metal surface of the car Fir st connect the black ground (ear th) lead, then connect the yello w and red pow er supply leads. 2 Blue wire The electric antenna contr ol lead or power supply lead of the antenna booster If there is no electr ic antenna or antenna booster , or it is manually operated telescopic antenna, it is not necessar y to connect this lead. 3 Y ellow wire The 12V car batter y which is live at all times . 4 Or ange/ White illumination switch . 5 Red wire The 12V pow er terminal which is live in the accessor y (A CC) position of the ignition switch If there is no accessor y position, connect to the 12V car batter y ter minal that is alwa ys live . 13 Attach the fr ont panel 1 Attach the tr im plate . 2 Inser t the left side of the panel in the chassis until it is cor rectly engaged. 3 Press the r ight side of the panel until it is locked into place. 14 4 If the car does not ha ve an on-board dr ive or na vigation computer , disconnect the negative terminal of the car batter y . If you disconnect the car batter y in a car that has an on-board dr iv e or na vigation computer , the computer may lose its memor y . If the car batter y is not disconnected, to a void shor t-circuit, ensure that bare wires do not touch each other . 5 Connect the supplied mounting bolt to the unit. 6 Place the supplied r ubber cushion o ver the end of the mounting bolt. • • 2 Remov e the mounting sleeve with the supplied disassembl y tools. 3 Install the sleeve into the dashboard and bend the tabs outward to fi x the sleeve. 24 Replace fuse If there is no pow er , the fuse may broke and need to be replaced. 1 Detach the front panel and take out the unit. (see ‘Remove the unit’ on page 24 ) 2 Check the electr ic connection . 3 Buy a fuse that matches the voltage of the damaged fuse (15A) 4 Replace the fuse . If the fuse is broken again after replacement, there might ha ve inter nal malfunction. 27 10 T r oubleshooting Caution Never remo ve the casing of this unit. • T o keep the war r anty valid, never tr y to repair the system yourself. If you encounter prob lems when using this unit, check the follo wing points before requesting ser vice . If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips web site (www .Philips.com/suppor t). When you contact Philips, ensure that your unit is nearby and the model number and serial number are a vailable (see ‘Get star ted’ on page 10 ) . No power or no sound. Car engine is not on. T urn the car engine on. Cable is not correctly connected. Check connections . Fuse is burnt. Replace fuse (see ‘Replace fuse’ on page 24 ) . V olume is too low . Adjust volume (see ‘Adjust volume’ on page 20 ) . If the abov e solutions cannot help, press the RESET button. Noise in br oadcasts. Signals are too weak. Select other stations with stronger signals.
