T o disconnect, press the "O" button to "0FF" position, then r emov e plug from electrical outlet. Remov e plug by gripping the plug body and pulling it fr om the outlet. Nev er yank or twist the cord to unplug.
13. Mak e sur e the motor and the blades completely stop turning befor e putting on or taking off par ts. 14. K eep hands, hair , and clothing, as well as spatulas and other utensils out of blender jar and a wa y fr om sharp blades while blending to pr ev ent the possibility of sev ere injur y to persons and/or damage to the Blender . If scraping, f olding, etc ., is necessar y , Blender must be turned off and unplugged, and only use a rubber spatula. 15. Blades ar e sharp . Handle car efully and with caution. 16. T o r educe risk of injur y to persons, nev er place mixing blades on base without blender jar pr operly attached. 17. Scr ew on blender jar bottom firmly . Injur y can r esult if moving blades become exposed. 18 Alwa ys operate Blender with lid in place and in "closed" position. 19. Alwa ys hold blender jar while pr ocessing. If the jar should turn when the motor is switched "ON", switch Blender "OFF" by pr essing "O" button immediately and tighten blender jar in thr eaded container bottom. 20. Do not fill the blender jar with ingr edients hotter than 140ºF/60ºC . 21. T o a void spillage, do not fill blender jar abov e the maximum le vel indication (5 cups/1.25 liters), par ticularl y when blending liquids. Alwa ys inser t stopper into the lid befor e y ou begin processing. 22. Nev er let the appliance run unattended. 23 . When blending hot liquids, remov e the stopper from the two-piece co ver . DO NO T fill bey ond 5 cups/1.25 liters lev el. Alwa ys begin pr ocessing at the lowest speed setting. K eep hands and other exposed skin a wa y fr om the cover opening to pr ev ent possible burns. 24. The blender jar is made of glass and ther efore br eakable . Do not drop the glass container on a floor or hard surface. A v oid extreme temperatur es. If the glass container is v er y cold, rinse it w ell with luk ewarm water bef ore pouring in hot liquid. 25. If the glass jar cracks, discontinue use . 26. Alwa ys mak e sur e that the rubber sealing ring is
in the corr ect position befor e y ou use the Blender . 27. The blender base is intended for use onl y with this blender jar . Do not substitute an y other blender jar . 28. This Blender has been equipped with an automatic safety cut-out which cuts off the po wer suppl y in case of an ov erload. In this case , the pin at the bottom of the Blender will pop out. If you push the pin back into the appliance, it will star t again. 3 Important: • Read the instructions carefull y and look at the illustrations before you start using the appliance. • Failure to pr operly insert filter ma y cause damage to filter unit from cutting blades. • Do not fill the blender jar with ingredients that ar e hotter than 140°F/60°C. • T o a void spillage, do not fill the jar above the maxim um level indication (5 cups/1.25 liters), particularly when you ar e blending liquids. Alwa ys inser t the stopper into the lid befor e you start processing. • NEVER use your hand, fingers or any other object in the blender jar while the appliance is turned on. If necessar y , use a rubber spatula to remo ve food fr om the wall of the blender jar after you ha ve turned the Blender off. • Befor e you start using the Blender , be sure that the blender jar is seated firmly or lock ed into position on motor base . Do not place jar onto base while motor is running, or in the “ON” position (see ‘Preparing the Blender for Use’). • Alwa ys make sure that the lid is in “closed position” when processing ingr edients. • The blender jar is made of glass and therefor e breakable. Do not drop the jar on a har d floor . Also a void extr eme thermal shocks. If the blender jar is very cold, rinse it well with luk ewarm water befor e pouring in hot liquid. • When blending solid ingredients, cut into 1 -inch pieces first. • Alwa ys pour liquids into blender jar before adding solid ingredients. • T o add ingr edients while you are alr eady in the process of mixing, remo ve the stopper fr om the lid and inser t ingr edients through the hole. • Nev er pour boiling liquid into the blender jar . Fruit Filter • Do not use the filter to process hot ingr edients. • Mak e sure that the filter has been pr operly inserted before you switch the appliance on.
4 Befor e Use Befor e using the Philips Blender for the first time, wash the stopper , lid, fruit filter and blender jar in luk ewarm soap y water to remov e any dust fr om packaging. NO TE: Never clean accessories or par ts in the dishwasher . The motor unit can be cleaned with a moist cloth. Do not use abrasives, scourers, alcohol, etc. C Y ou can store excess po wer cord b y winding it around the base of the appliance. Preparing the Blender f or Use The Blender has been equipped with a built-in safety lock that pr events it from functioning if the blender jar has been assembled incor rectly or has not been placed in base. NO TE: Nev er tur n the appliance ON or OFF (O) b y removing or engaging the glass jar! C 1 Put the rubber sealing ring on the inner edge of the blade unit. C 2 Mount the blender jar onto the blade unit and turn it in the direction of the ar row until it is pr operly lock ed in place. Alwa ys make sure that y ou scre w the jar onto the blade unit in such a wa y that the lev el indications on the blender jar align with notches on the blade unit. C 3 Mount the blender jar with blade unit onto the motor unit and turn in the direction of the ar row until it is pr operly lock ed in place. C 4 After putting the ingredients in the blender jar , place the lid onto the jar by pr essing it down and turning it.
5 C 5 Insert the stopper into the opening in the lid. When finished, mak e sure that the siev e of the lid is positioned in the spout to pour liquids. C 6 Alwa ys make sure that y ou remo ve the blender jar fr om motor unit with the blade unit still attached to the jar . Nev er touch the blades of the blade unit while the appliance is connected to the pow er source. T o disassemble the blender , follow steps in r ev erse order . Using the Blender 1 Place the Philips Blender on a flat, dry , clean surface. Rubber feet will grip typical countertops to prev ent walking. NO TE: Mak e sure that the appliance is plugged in and the blender jar has been properl y locked in place bef ore y ou switch the appliance on. 2 Plug cord into 120V A C electrical outlet. C 3 Select the speed that is most suitable for the ingr edients you want to process: 1 light pr ocessing of mainly liquid ingredients, e.g. chocolate milk 2 hea vier processing of a combination of liquid and solid ingredients 3 hea vy processing of mainl y solid ingredients • If you are not sure which speed to select, y ou can always use the highest speed (speed 3). C 4 For quick pr ocessing needing only a fe w moments at a time , press the M button and then r elease it immediately . Y ou may also press the M b utton to get a momentar y pow er bur st while blender is operating on any of the other speeds. Once y ou release the M button the b lender automatically stops. NO TE: Do not press the M button for longer than a fe w seconds at a time.
C 5 T o switch the appliance off, when using speed 1, 2, or 3, press the “O” button. Helpful Hints 1 The stopper ma y be used as a measuring cup by placing the stopper upside down in the lid. C 2 The opening in the lid can be used for adding ingr edients while the motor is running. 3 Do not let the appliance run for longer than 3 minutes at a time. If you ha ve not finished pr ocessing after 3 minutes, switch the appliance off (O) for one minute befor e you let it run again. C 4 Pre-cut meat and other solid ingr edients into smaller pieces befor e putting them into the blender jar . 5 For optimal blending of solid ingr edients, feed a series of small amounts into the jar rather than processing a large quantity at once. 6 If the ingredients ar e still too large or chunky , switch the Blender to off (O) position and then let it run briefly a couple of times by pr essing the M (momentar y/pulse) button, or turn the appliance off (O), wait until blades stop turning and stir the ingredients with a rubber spatula or r educe the contents of the blender jar and process smaller amounts at a time. 7 T o crush ice cubes drop them onto the blades thr ough the opening in the lid while the motor is running. Remove the crushed ice when the blender jar is 1/2 full. Y ou ma y find that using the M (momentar y/pulse) button w orks best. NO TE: Hold lid in place with one hand while processing ice cubes. 8 If you ar e processing solid and liquid ingr edients at the same time, first put the liquid ingredients in the blender jar . Ad d the solid ingredients while the Blender is running . 6
Using the Fruit Filter With this filter you can mak e delicious fresh fruit juices and cocktails. All pits, skins, and seeds will remain behind in the filter . How ev er , large hard pits (e.g. peach, nectarine , a vocado , etc .) should be remo ved befor e adding fruit so as not to jam the blades. 1 Assemble the blender jar . C 2 Place the filter in the assembled blender jar . Mak e sure that the bottom of the filter is connecting with the internal bottom of the blender jar . IMPOR T ANT: Failure to proper ly inser t the filter my cause damage to the filter from cutting b lades. C 3 Put the lid in place and turn it to lock the filter into position. C 4 Put the ingredients thr ough the hole in lid into the filter . Alwa ys put dr y/solid ingredients first. NO TE: The filter should nev er be filled abo ve the metal screen level! 5 Add water or another liquid (e.g. for cocktails). 6 Put the stopper in place and switch the appliance on. Select the highest speed (3). Let the Blender run for 40 seconds. C 7 Switch the Blender off by pr essing the “O” button. Pour out the drink through the spout of the blender jar . 8 For optimal r esults, put the jar with the remaining ingr edients back onto the appliance and let it run for a f ew more seconds. 9 Pour out the r est of the drink. 7
IMPOR T ANT: Do not remo ve the f ilter before you ha ve poured all liquid out of the Blender . If you do , the contents of the filter will fall into the remaining liquid in Blender Jar . Helpful Tips Using the F ruit Filter Particularly when you ar e processing large quantities, w e advise that you do not put all the ingredients in the filter at the same time. Start processing a small quantity , let the Blender run for a moment, switch it off by pr essing the “O” button and then add another small quantity . Repeat this procedur e until you ha ve pr ocessed all the ingredients. For So y Milk A maximum of 2 oz./50g of dry soy beans can be processed with max. 2 cups/ 500 ml water . Soak soy beans for 4 hours befor e processing them. For Fruit J uices and Cocktails For best r esults, add appr oximatel y 1 1/4 cup/300 ml water (or other liquid for cocktails, etc .) to 5 oz./150g fruit. Cleaning 1 Cleaning of the Blender parts and the accessories is easiest if done immediately after use. 2 Nev er clean the accessories or the par ts in the dishwasher . 3 The motor unit ma y be cleaned using a moist cloth. Never immerse motor base in water . 4 Rinse and dr y each piece thor oughly . CAUTION: Handle the cutting blades with extreme care and caution. They are shar p and may cause injur y . 5 Do not use abrasives, scourers, alcohol, etc . Blender Jar 6 Nev er clean the glass jar with water hotter than 140ºF/60ºC . 7 Quick c leaning: assemble the blender jar on motor unit and pour luk ewarm water and a few dr ops of dishwashing liquid into the blender jar . 8 Assemble the lid and the stopper . C 9 Let the appliance run for a f ew moments by pr essing the “ M ” Pulse/Quick Clean button, then immediately release this button. Repeat a couple of times. 10 Press the OFF (O) button. 8
11 Alwa ys wait until the motor is off and the blades hav e stopped moving. 12 Unplug the appliance. 13 Remov e the blender jar and rinse it with clean water . 14 Thorough cleaning : remov e the blade unit and clean all par ts separately . Filter 16 T ak e the filter out of the blender jar . 17 Hold the filter ov er a waste bin and gently shake out the contents of the filter . 18 Rinse the filter under the tap . 19 It ma y be necessar y to soak the filter in warm water for a f ew minutes befor e rinsing clean. 20 If needed, the screen of the filter ma y be cleaned by using a very soft brush.
