For common user s, Express Installation pro vides WA C700 âÂÂs standard PC connection. Express Installation IMPOR T ANT! â When using a router , keep it at least 0.5 meter aw ay from W A C700 Center . Prepar ation for installation On W A CS700: 1 Check you ha v e finished the Wi-Fi connection between WA C 700 Center and WA S 700 Station . (See Quick Start Guide , Step A) 2 Check your WA C 700 Center is switched on or to standby mode On y our PC or existing PC netw ork: 1 Switch on the PC with administr ator's pr ivileges. 2 Close all the applications on your PC , including the internet connection 3 Connect the supplied Ethernet cable (str aight cable) to Centerâ s ETHERNET por t 4 Inser t the installer CD into y our PC and select y our desired language Tips: â Y ou can also star t up the installer CD by running WA C_installer . ex e on the CD-R OM driver . Option 1: Direct connection Choose this option if y ou want to connect Music Center to a Standalone PC without LAN/Wireless Netw ork 1 In Softwar e Installation page , click to select Music Center connect to Standalone PC , no LAN/Wireless Network 2 When prompted by the installation wizard, ensure the supplied Ethernet cable (str aight cable) is connected to Centerâ s ETHERNET por t 3 Follow the screen instructions to finish the PC connection. â The screen shows: âÂÂThe connection to your Music Center has been establishedâ 4 Click Next to star t DMM installation. â The icon appear s on your computer desktop after DMM installation is finished. Express Installation Tips: â If your PC is also connected to Internet via XDSL modem, use a wir ed router or wireless access point and follo w the installation steps of Option 2 and Option 3. Otherwise, manually change your PCâ s IP from its orginal one to IP address: 192.168.107. 20, Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 or vice versa. To configure your IP , go to Star t menu - Settings - Control P anel - Network Connections â Properties . Scroll to Internet Pr otocol (TCP/IP) . Option 2: Wireless connection Choose this option if y ou want to con- nect Music Center to a wireless. Router/ wireless Access P oint or an e xisting wir eless netw ork 1 Check the wireless router/access point is working proper ly . Write down its SSID and also the WEP or WP A key if it is enabled in the router/access point 2 In Softwar e Installation page , click to select Music Center connect to Wireless Network 3 When prompted by the installation wizard, ensure the supplied Ethernet cable (str aight cable) is con- nected to Centerâ s ETHERNET por t 4 When the screen on the r ight appear s, a . Input the SSID y ou wrote down in the abo ve step 1 b. In WLAN mode, click Infrastructure mode c. Input the WEP or WP A key you wrote do wn in the abov e step 1 5 Follow the screen instructions to finish the PC con- nection. â The screen shows: âÂÂThe WiFi settings of Music Center hav e been changed. ...... â Tips: â It is recommended that WEP k ey encr yption be used for better network perf ormance and security. â In Infr astructure mode, Channel is assigned automatically by the r outer/access point. Express Installation 6 To apply new settings on W A CS700, you need to let both Center and Station enter Installation Mode . On Center : a . Select HD. b. Press MENU c. Use the navigation controls 3 or 4 and 2 to enter Station Mgnt menu d. In Station Mgnt menu, use the na vigation controls 3 or 4 and 2 to select Add New Station e. Press ST OP àto exit Installation Mode when Center has found all the stations On Station: a . Select AUX . b. Press MENU. c. Use the navigation controls 3 or 4 and 2 to select Installation Mode 7 Click Next to star t DMM installation. â The icon appear s on your computer desktop after DMM installation is finished. 8 Disconnect the supplied Ethernet cable from your PC and Center ., and then, connect your PC to the wireless router/access point. Option 3: Wired connection Choose this option if y ou want to connect Music Center to an exist- ing wired netw ork with wired r outer 1 Check the wired router is working proper ly and enable its DHCP . 2 In Softwar e Installation page , click to select Music Center connect to Wired Network 3 When prompted by the installation wizard, ensure the supplied Ethernet cable (str aight cable) is con- nected to Centerâ s ETHERNET por t. 4 When the screen on the right appear s, select â Obtain an IP addr ess automatically âÂÂ. 5 Follow the screen instructions to finish the PC connection. â The screen shows: âÂÂ......The connection to your Music Center has been established...... â 6 To apply new settings, you need to po wer off WA C700 Center , and then power it on again. 7 Click Next to star t DMM installation. â The icon appear s on your computer desktop after DMM installation is finished. 8 Disconnect the supplied Ethernet cable from your PC and Center ., and then, connect your PC and Center to the wired router . Notes: â If you are Windows 98 SE/ME user , you will be prompted to r estar t your computer before star ting DMM installation. â If you are Windows 2000 user , chec k Ser vice P ack 2 is installed. â Select PCâ s network adapter that connects Center via the supplied Ethernet cable , if you have installed more than one network adapter on your PC â In Option 3: Wired connection, avoid assigning the IP address manually as: IP address: 169.254.xxx. yyy; Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0. Suc h an IP address will cause conflict with the WiFi network of WA CS700 Center and Station, resulting in Centerâ s disabled Ethernet por t. Digital Media Manager (DMM) Digital Media Manag er (DMM) contains necessar y soft- ware components for y our PC to work with W A C700 Center . 1 Double click on your computer desktop to launch DMM. 2 Follow the screen instr uctions for y our operation To learn more about DMM, click Help â Digital Media Manag er Help IMPOR T ANT! â When tr ansferring music fr om PC to Center via DMM, do not remo ve Centerâ s power plug from the w all outlet within 15 minutes after the music tr ansfer is completed. Custom Installation Change Network Settings 1 Restore your W A C700 Center to its factor y settings (see Chapter Reset in the User Manual). 2 Follow the steps under Custom Installation to change your netw or k settings. DMM/Custom Installation Glossar y Access point: communication hub for the connection between a wireless device and a wired LAN. Ad-hoc mode: a networ king framewor k where devices communicate with each other directly , without access point. DHCP: stands for D ynamic H ost C onfiguration Protocol. It is a protocol for assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a networ k. Infrastructure mode: a netw or king framewor k where devices communicate with each other via an access point IP addr ess: computer or device identifier on a TCP/IP network SSID: stands for S er vice S et IDentifier . The same SSID must be used for all the access points and all the devices if you tr y to connect them to a specific WLAN. Subnet Mask: It ser v es to decide what subnet an IP address belongs to WEP : stands for W ired E quivalent P r ivacy . It is a secur ity protocol for wireless local area network WLAN: stands for W ireless L ocal A rea Network. In such a networ k, high-frequency r adio wav es are used for comm unication WP A : stands for W i-Fi P rotected A ccess. It is a Wi-Fi standard aimed to improv e WEPâ s security features. It wor ks with an existing WEP-enabled Wi-Fi products. Gracenote and CDDB are registered trademarks of Gracenote. Notes: â If you are Windows 98 SE/ME user , you will be prompted to r estar t your computer before star ting DMM installation. â If you are Windows 2000 user , chec k Ser vice P ack 2 is installed. â Select PCâ s network adapter that connects Center via the supplied Ethernet cable , if you have installed more than one network adapter on your PC â In Option 3: Wired connection, avoid assigning the IP address manually as: IP address: 169.254.xxx. yyy; Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0.
