P ow ering y our camcor der Y our camcorder has a built-in USB rechargeable batter y . T o char ge , switch on y our computer . Detach the USB co v er . Connect your camcorder DIRECTL Y to your computer's USB por t. Char ge your camcorder until the P ow er le v el indicator lights up and stops blinking (appro ximately 3 hour s). Keep y our computer switched on dur ing char ging. Disconnect saf ely after charging completes. (See page 15 for more inf or mation) IMPOR T ANT! Look through the Viewfinder to fr ame your subject. 3 Keep the camcorder steady and press the Shutter halfway do wn to test picture conditions. For best results, check the status of all indicator s on the camcorder when y ou take a picture . (See page 11 for more inf or mation) 4 Press the Shutter fully do wn to take y our pictures. Y our camcorder will conf ir m the capture by a brief picture playback. DO NO T tur n the Mode dial until the Memor y indicator stops blinking. TIP Y our camcorder automatically po w er s off if there is no oper ation within 60 seconds. For best results, check the status of all indicator s on the camcorder when y ou capture . (See page 11 for more information) 4 Press the Shutter again to stop captur ing. Y our camcorder will conf ir m the capture by sa ving the captured file . DO NO T tur n the Mode dial until the Memor y indicator stops blinking. Make sure y ou sa v e the f ile(s) in a folder on y our computer . Unzip them before y ou install the upgrade . 2 Connect your camcorder to y our computer . Copy the extracted fir mware f ile into the root director y of your camcorder . After f ile tr ansfer completes, disconnect camcorder safel y from y our computer by clicking on the task bar to a v oid file error . WINDO WS 98SE users : there is no icon. Simply disconnect camcorder after f ile tr ansfer completes. 3 Press and hold Shutter and tur n the Mode dial to power ON. Y our camcorder will star t upgr ading.
